The original screenplay is written by Jonathan Nolan. But Christopher Nolan will probably write his own version of Jonathan's script which will probably be the final production draft. That's how they did it with The Dark Knight Rises.

And that's why I think TDKR was just short of greatness. Don't get me wrong, I love Chris Nolan, but by him adding more stuff kind of made the movie suffer a little bit. I thought there was a too many unnecessary characters and some MINOR plot holes. Story wise, I rank the the trilogy like this: 1.) Batman Begins 2.) The Dark Knight 3.) The Dark Knight Rises Now mind you, I said, "STORY WISE". I am also a big fan of Heath's performance (I don't need angry fanboys yelling at me because I put TDK second). For me Batman Begins BARELY edges out The Dark Knight for story.

It was not the case just for TDKR, that's how they seem to have worked on all their movies, starting from Memento. I love Batman Begins and Batman Begins was the reason I watched The Dark Knight. But The Dark Knight is my favorite one of the trilogy. I love the set up in Batman Begins. Their spin on the origin story is the best one we have seen til now. The story explores so much, tragedy and struggle and anger and fear, it's amazing. But I like the story of The Dark Knight even more, the themes it explores... I could talk about that for thousands of words so I won't get into it. But I understand how Batman Begins can easily be better than TDK in another person's opinion, it is one of my favorite movies of all time. Certainly the most under appreciated one of the trilogy.

Nice to see this officially confirms Nolan's next project, they seem to bee aiming the film towards Oscar season, and it's release in IMAX suggests it will be visually striking as his other films. I already cannot wait, I loved what he did for Batman but it's always his original works such as Memento, Prestige (wildly different from the book) and Inception that made me obsessed with his work.
