EA Invite Hints at Battlefield 4 Reveal

EA Invite Hints at Battlefield 4 Reveal
Interestingly, the invitation includes a familiar color palette that’s extremely similar to the box art for Battlefield 3. Given that Battlefield 4 was recently shown to retailers and has yet to see an official announcement, could this be when EA will finally reveal the sequel?

For now, no details have been confirmed, but look out for more info at the end of this month once the event has taken place. At last year's GDC, EA revealed Medal of Honor Warfighter as well as Battlefield 3's Close Quarters content.

The Game Developer’s Conference will take place in San Francisco from March 25th through 29th. The event will begin immediately after this year’s PAX East, where Blizzard and Capcom have also teased new announcements.

What do you think EA will announce? Let us know in the comments below.

Slydice.
You cant please everybody, I got the premy edition and my friend got the premium code for free. I brought my bedroom tv up front to celebrate.

TreacherousDarklord1.
its amazing that EA can blind you with simple little trinkets in their game and make give them $50. 1. The new game modes are only playable on the new maps so what is the point. If I want to play CTF, I can only play it on 4 maps out of the more than 20 that are in the game. Plus games like Halo, CoD, and others add new game modes all of the time FOR FREE. 2. New camos? So a handful of paint patterns on your gun adds to the justification of $50? Why would you ever expect to pay for cosmetic changes outside of a F2P game? 3. New Guns. Why would you even need new guns let alone to pay for them? BF3 already has a ton of guns and guess what! They all work the same. All ARs work the same. All bolt action snipers are used by sitting back. All shotguns kill close range. Etc. when you get a new gun, you are really just getting a reskin with thinks like damage and RoF tweaked. It's not like they add a weapon that works completely different from all of the rest and alters the way you play. 4. New assignments. Really? These are just things you need to do to unlock the guns and what not. Why did you even list this? You are happy to pay for this? 5. Dog tags. Again, another useless, cosmetic addition that doesn't change anything, but we'll gladly pay for it! 6. Double Xp events. This is shameful. If you want double XP you have to pay for it. Gears, CoD, Halo, Uncharted, Killzone, and TONS of other games have double XP events ALL OF THE TIME. Gears 3 had a 31x XP even for Halloween. No comparison. Now, I like Battlefield as much as the next guy, but the price they charge for these map packs, along with Call of Duty's and others', are ridiculous. Why does a handful of map packs cost almost as much as the game did. Games like Tribes Ascend, Counter Strike, and Left 4 Dead get all new maps and game modes for FREE. Do you think as much work went into the maps as did the game itself? Nope, not even close. So why do they charge a massive amount of money for such little effort. I am proud to say I STOLE premium using an exploit because it is a massive rip-off.

Mr.Bramwell.
If you really compare the price and content of BF3 Premium to other game's DLC, it's a deal.

Bowin.
Exactly 4 bf maps are equal to about 50 cod. CS or other fps games not only in scale but how to balance them considering it has vehicles. As far as redundant new guns to unlock perhaps they are pointless. But could still have different rates of fire recoil not just dmg. Even if they are redundant some people just like unlocking stuff. Gamer score and trophies are pointless but many people like to accrue them.

MUgeN2904.
Agreed !! $50 for elite...withn only a fraction of the maps put out by EA/DICE!! Yet ppl didnt complain. And they bitch bout this!!

or buy the premium edition for 40 bucks.

Erndog2k.
some people right.

TreacherousDarklord1.
It's $60. Sale prices may be $40, but do sales last forever? Nope.

RX0BANSH33.
You douche, buy the Premium edition of the game for a little bot more.

angerissues1.
Yo should have bought the premium edition but I guess it's easier to blame EA instead of yourself.

TreacherousDarklord1.
Premium edition is still $60. So that turns an $18 used game into a $60 forced-new game. Value? No...

KK_74.
Premium stupid...

Bowin.
So late in the games cycle I see that being an issue. I would defiantly jump on bf day one. It's worth every penny.

I know a lot of people hate EA but they've never done anything wrong by me. They made me get an origin account but i never use it. Need for speed was awesome, last years madden was good, crysis runs well for me and battlefield 3 has allowed me to play one of the best shooters on the market. Everyone has their own opinion but I like EA. Can't wait for bf4 on ps4.

Grayle.
I'm still blaming them for pushing out the unfinished Mass Effect 3. i can be cranky that way.

UneedAthong.
BF3 had some issues on the PS3 though, where you would jump play and couldn't see or shoot your gun! It was horrible for a few of us.

ksmith0213.
It's just the decisions that they make on some of their games/forcing devs to push out unfinished or untested products. I know now to never buy an EA game on launch day and to wait at least a few weeks if I ever play on playing its multiplayer haha

Slydice.
Ya'll can hate EA all you want they have a stable of thoroughbred games. I havent once fell prey to their money grubbing tactics. This will be the first EA purchase I get for the ps4, 64 player online ftw!!!!

KevanMann360.
I'm still very much getting SimCity because it looks like an absolute blast, but I'll have to wait a week or two until they sort out the launch issues.

EA: simcity's not working? uh, here guys BattleField 4! Us: yeah we still know u screwed us over EA: damn it!

Nhalxx.
Oh man, seems im moving on to the Call of duty franchise... Such a waste, forgot about the micro transactions announcement...

llinsane1ll.
I really want things to change, and I will voice myself with my money, and sad to say, I won't be buying any EA related games until something changes for the better. The only way I will is through pre-owned.

Jounochi.
Yeah... this did seem a little... well... very well timed.

Grayle.
Especially since their stock took a full percent drop with the SimCity thing, you know they're going to do anything to cover that baby up and try and recover from it. Stockholders get really crabby when their pockets take a hit.

NightmareXxX.
they are going to do a lot of covering up. simcity is a mess right now.

samuelsargunam.
dice is not ea

Bobby1302.
Neither is Maxis.....whats your point? It's still EA who publishes both...

samuelsargunam.
sure but this kid seems to think that dice is inherently bad, but infact they make amazing gamer...just ea rushes them to compete against cod and the game comes out half broken, or an entire franchise is destroyed by some shitty endings being rushed...bioware is still awesome, Citadel dlc as proof, but ea ruined their cred...

drcmessiah.
Battlefield 4 releases December 2013, December 2014, the game actually works. January 2015 Next battlefield announced.

rhcpshunsui.
Why should I care about a game that I will not play because needs to be online.

Zombiecowmeat.
Come onnn I wants more DRM and more browser based server browsersssss

mob_zter.
Actually now Simcity servers are getting really stable.

Mattcoxy.
Battlefield 4 will be completely single player.

teknology1010.
I think you're on to something

adastt_sk.
Save the date... thats when SimCity will actually be playable?

OBO786.
Hint: It's going to have DRM issues.

ElazulHP.
And micro transactions!

OBO786.
MOAR micro transactions

Brodo789.
Nobody is forcing you to buy the micro transactions. They were just kit shortcuts in BF3. They game is literally the exact same without them, save for the fact that you have to unlcok everything through progression, which I'd rather do anyway.

crims0n_fart.
but you bought the game so you have the right to get what they are selling as micro transactions And bf3 kit shortcuts is pay to win that's disgusting

Brodo789.
In no way does that help you win. If you are good at the game you can own with any weapon. "Oh no, they got the m16 before me, I'm screwed :("

crims0n_fart.
Having a better weapon doesn't mean winning but it definitely is having an edge and you didn't earn it you bought it

Brodo789.
Ok, good for them. If they want to pay to get it, more power to them. If they want to rob themselves of the satisfaction of unlocking it, I couldn't give two shits. And the unlock didn't come out for MONTHS after the games release, at which point most people had everything unlocked anyway.

Bowin.
Not really pay to win but pay to be stupid.. Yes. Unlocking stuff is fun.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
As Cliffy B once said stop ur bitching u don't have to pay if u don't want to. At least thats what I read. The M16A3 is actually the cheapest gun in the game a casual gamer can pick it up and beat someone with a high tier weapon.

Chezzymann.
We need some sort of teaparty equivalent for protesting EA.

TheMaverickk.
Agreed.... it's just harder and harder to send a message that you aren't happy to companies these days. I enjoy EA's games, but I don't like their company practices (watering down good franchises, micro-transactions, day one DLC, and worst of all the Origin service which EA is shoving down all their fans throats despite it being a terrible service). I like a game, I want to support the developers of it. I don't like Origin, don't like day one DLC (still want to play it though.... so they screw you) and it's hard to get that message through to them. If I buy a game I'm saying I like that game, but simultaneously I'm also saying "I love what your doing as a company EA and enjoy being screwed out of content I should be playing on your below par service". Which is not the message I want to send either - _ -

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
I don't agree with some of EA's practises but at the end of the day they are just a company lots of other games have dlc in collectors edition or exclusive content that is nearly the same thing since EA offers the day one dlc in their collectors editions or on the side. Yes micro transactions are stupid but u don't have to buy them and just because someone does doesn't mean they have god mode enabled most games need some form of skill. Origin is shitty right now but now for a time steam wasn't that great either. Its just going to take some time for more people to use and eventually improve upon Origin. And yes DRM is also stupid because why should publishers try and have absolute control where it may impede upon the performance of a game. Music artist lose money because everyone around the world "steal"/"shares" songs. But if the artist make good music they shouldn't worry and they don't because fans still buy there content and go to their concerts. Publishers/developers shouldn't worry about that if u make an awesome game, people will buy ur games and tell other people about it. Again I don't love or hate EA its just stupid to hear people complain about things a company does even tho it doesn't affect them directly(micro-transactions). some also say "I'm never gonna buy a game from EA ever again". in a years time I can guarantee u will if not then congrats u stay true to your words.

TheMaverickk.
Well I've already gone two years with out buying an EA title. so I'd say I'm doing pretty good. I haven't purchased an EA game since Dead Space 2 (the last EA game I purchased). Years before that though I used to buy plenty of Sim titles and even Mass Effect. I don't think I own any EA title with a 3 in it though. Also right now it's EA, but I am just as peeved if other companies do day one DLC as well. Still the reason I'm harsher on EA .... they are a huge company that does set standards in the industry. If they get away with these business practices then other companies will follow. They see EA profiting from these crappy business models and want those same benefits. Origin has been around for a while now and has yet to really step up. It should've taken what Steam has done and at least matched it. Learned from what they did, and the issues they had back in 2003 when they first launched (in a time when developers weren't even interested in digital distribution). Also it's crappy now, so if I want to play games now I'm supposed to just put up with it. When there are other digital distribution services that work smoothly and incredibly well, which EA could put their content on (and used to for that matter). Not to mention I have to have to services running on my computer at the same time? have to build and keep track of two separate friend lists for online titles? It's annoying. Also the music and video game markets are also completely different. CD's don't ask you for DRM, or login codes in order to access content, or only give you half the album up front and then expect you to pay a second time over to hear the last few songs on the album. To compare the two really isn't the same. Also everyone knows that most musical artists profit through touring and selling merchandise where as the sales of their albums in stores and through online purchases barely reaches the actual artists. Again corporate labels taking the majority and passing on the scraps to the artists. So pirating effects different business' in different ways. Not to mention "sharing/stealing" is how a lot of people discover bands and then go and support them. I probably wouldn't be a fan of all the bands I love today if it weren't for pirating and peer 2 peer programs like LimeWire... and purchased all the albums for those bands and seen their shows to boot. Back on point... just saying EA won't listen to people who are fed up, and not buying their titles is the only way I can think of to send them a message. Hell they got "worst American company of the year" in 2012, and they haven't taken the hint.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
Its good in the least that u stay true to your word and refuse to buy EA products. And I do understand your concern for EA in regards of setting an example for the rest of the game industry. Origin is flawed right now and needs some serious work done to that (can't even pre-load games) but I'm willing to a bit more patience. I only used music as a BASIC example because the primary reason EA moved to DRM like Blizzard did with Diablo 3 was so people could steal their game or hack it. IF they don't want people to hack it then develop better security within the game and for stealing as I said before in my previous statement its going to happen but if u make a good game people will buy and support it. Telling EA to not make day one dlc or micro-transactions is like telling them to stop making money. And if u look at it from their point of view that sounds ridiculous. But from the customer point of view we say that because we want to make a fairer more developed industry for our games. I know EA won't listen to u and I commend u in ur cause of boycotting EA. Again I want to point out I don't say this approach to support EA I take this approach to support the games I love. Battlefield, Dragon Age, Dead Space, and Mass Effect. If EA didn't have these titles I wouldn't be writing.

TheMaverickk.
I do respect your stance, and understand if you feel what EA does is perfectly fine. Still there is one point I had to comment on. "Telling EA to not make day one dlc or micro-transactions is like telling them to stop making money." I understand that the idea of business is to make the most profit possible. What company doesn't want to make more money? Still that doesn't make the business practices right or fair to their consumer. It is possible for business' to be taking advantage of their consumer bases (and their fans for that matter). I'm sorry but even look at Dead Space 3 right now. The game came out a month ago, and in a few days they are releasing DLC.... which happens to be the actual conclusion of the Dead Space 3 story (so far as the advertising and staff have said). That to me is a little exploitative of fans. Why should a Dead Space fan who paid $60 up front for the game new.... who completed the game thinking that was the end.... now be told. Well if you want the real conclusion you now have to pay an additional $10. You don't see anything wrong with this sort of practice? You don't think that is a company taking advantage of it's fan base and extorting them for more cash then what was originally asked for. I'm all for supporting companies and games. Still it's these types of things that EA does a lot that have gotten on my nerves.

ElazulHP.
I'm all for protesting EA, but the Teaparty is just a bunch of loons. Associating yourself with them is just a bad idea.

Chezzymann.
As in the Boston Teaparty. Lol.

ElazulHP.
Ah ha! Ok, wasn't sure so just assumed the worst. My bad :P

I almost responded, but then I decided not to start a political war. So, I wrote this instead. You're welcome :P

HEAVEN_OR_HECK.
There are organizational lessons to be learned from them. Let the angels be as well organized as the demons.

MassEffect504.
Yeah. We should demand that EA reveal their birth certificate.

NightmareXxX.
we need are voices heard.i say we protest ea and square enix

Nhalxx.
Why Square enix...?

NightmareXxX.
the constant sequels to final fantasy 13 is my reason for protest.... but EA is worse though

Nhalxx.
Okay, well i can understand that. For me with the current titles they uphold they're quite outstanding for me. So, that's sort-of why i wondered.

64 Player maps on the Next Gen, or I'm really not that excited...

Mark01_8.
and 60fps!

Biscuits69.
Remember, the graphics card on the PS4 is good, but it isn't anything supper beefy. with graphics as beautiful as BF3 and 64 players; I'll gladly play at 30fps on consoles.

Bowin.
I would love 60 fps. Hard to do on such huge maps 64 player full size maps 60 fps and proper rendering at a distance would be nice.

Brodo789.
They already confirmed that months ago.

Jefy.
No can do EA. bioshock will occupy that day.

DBZSkyR1m.
I feel bad that DiCE has to work under EA. someone else needs to get them.

konstantinxy.
Don't worry they'll close them as soon as their games stop selling millions of copies. That's what EA does

DBZSkyR1m.
be cool. if.they make.a bad game. so.EA drops them. on then Dice Hoes independiente or a great company buys them.that be funny

bad_opinion_guy.
god forbids that activision picks up dice and have frostbite 2.5 on the next cod game.

buffalomike.
F*ck generic military fps, get something original in that genre.

bad_opinion_guy.

Both if possible

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
may god have mercy on your soul.

bad_opinion_guy.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
if the world blew up that would be bad too.

Darkness0690.
I'm pretty sure EA owns the Frostbite Engine as a proprietary engine. It would be cool if they licensed it to other developers, but it doesn't seem like that will happen.

DBZSkyR1m.
my spelling is bad cuz of broken keypad

konstantinxy.
Nope DICE is owned by EA , so far they only closed studios , never let go of them. So DICE would be gone , sure the people affected could open a new studio , but all the titles they spent their time and hard work on would be owned by EA so they'd have to start over from scratch.

Slydice.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
Bioware :' (

Darkness0690.
Why? The entire Battlefield franchise has been published by EA.

mva5580.
Great news, we're all so high on EA right now I'm sure this announcement will be positively received by the community as a whole.

static360.
As much as I love battlefield if EA is pulling all this s**t they have been pulling lately sadly I will not be buying battlefield 4

Lurk101.
After BF3 I have no excitement at all for this. I don't know why I just couldn't get into the game. Something got lost from the old BF games and even Bad Company, I just didn't find BF3 fun. Plus it is far to quick to be hearing about another BF, EA is milking this to hell. And I'm sure the micros in this game will only piss me off. Suppose ARMA 3 and Rising Storm for RO2 will have to give me my shooting fix.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
Arma 3 alpha is live on steam and it looks good unfortunately im broke so Im going to get it later.

Darkness0690.
No, it's not too quick, just on schedule actually. The Battlefield franchise has been on a 2 year schedule ever since the first game.

Lurk101.
Yes, but it just feels too quick for me. I had so many little gripes with BF3 that annoyed me to all hell. I hope the best for this, I love big scale shooters and I haven't missed a BF yet, and don't plan to anytime soon.

Darkness0690.
I would have preferred a sequel to 2142 to keep it fresh, but I'm sure BF4 will be awesome.

Brodo789.
It's been almost 2 years -__-

jayman109.
If they bring back buildings that collapse and smaller vehicles to quickly navigate the map, I'll be purchasing the game. Who am I kidding, I'll probably purchase it anyway.

HoodieAllen.
They already have buildings that collapse and small vehicles...Have you been playing bf3?

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
ya but in bad company 2 the whole build collapsed and it was epic if u were in it cause the game would tell u "GTFO its ah comin down". In BF3 u have the frame of buildings and some inner walls left standing.

Bowin.
Some buildings do fully collapse it depends on the framework if the building is steel framed it won't topple (kind of a shame at Times). Bad company 2 had many buildings that would not collapse also. It did seem like the destruction was toned back to much.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ.
EA did not develop Sim City nor Battlefield since they are a Publisher who just provides money and marketing. Get mad at the Developer, not EA!

NoLifeKing23.
They are just trying to generate some kind of positive buzz after a string of failures and the SimCity debacle. We know BF4 is coming next year, big deal. How about some positive news like, abandoning online DRM.

xProjectFenrirx.
EA? no thanks.

HEAVEN_OR_HECK.
R.I.P. SimCity. Dead on arrival in the domestic market. Never forget.

maxeljulio.
Please learn from your mistakes EA. Please don't screw up Battlefield 4.

Brodo789.
You sound like you're implying that bf3 was bad.

maxeljulio.
No I liked BF3. I just think EA has screwed up other series.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
suppression-field 3 could use some minor adjustments, need I say more?

Bowin.
Ea just publishes bf games. Dice makes the game and dice is awesome.

maxeljulio.
Oh well that's good to know. I didn't know how much influence they really have on that series.

Bowin.
At this point I'm sure ea rarely every looks over their shoulder. Especially considering dice digital illusions ce is in Sweden and has worked with ea for a decade. I imagine EA has faith in them by now.

Zephyius.
I can't wait for all the "OHMAIGAWD THIS WEAPON IS SO OVERPOWERED!" complaints.

Will this game also have a piss-poor launch?

If BF4 was coming out on the ps3 I wouldn't buy it. But since its coming out on PS4 I will give it a chance.

buffalomike.
It's EA. Don't get too excited. I have a bad feeling about this one....

Darkness0690.
It's DICE, you should get excited.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ.
Why? EA does not Develop Battlefield (This community is uneducated)

buffalomike.
They still have a hand in it though, and that's a fact.

Sitanoni.
It would be funny if the graphics were better than crysis 3. At this rate, by 2020 we will have near photorealistic games. LOL

Darkness0690.
It's possible, BF3 looks pretty damn good, even if it's not as good as Crysis 3.

Reydriel.
The original Crysis still looks better than many games coming out today :P

Falcon-X32.
Battlefield 3 pushed the limits of what I thought war games could be, I can't even imagine what they have in store for us next.

MassEffect504.
Nothing really, just more money for you to spread.

xSEINFELDx.
Kind of like Mass Effect?

Except Mass Effect was incredible. I just started 3.

That's to bad. Cause I love them.

Now with twice as much micro-transactions.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ.
They already denied that...

Shhhhh.... that's a joke ;) You can change it for twice as much DLC for unlockables if it makes it better for you :)

ElazulHP.
Phuck you EA!

JimmyC0341.
All set w/EA games. They can have their micro-transactions,always on DRM, Online Pass Codes, and over-priced half-finished,sub-par games. I seriously hope they crash and burn next gen.

haha, love how the bottom of the invitation says, "non-Transferrable". No refund for this; no refunds for any of EA's products!

finalmasseffect.
when a pc has 8GB of gddr 5 ram, then we'll talk. teraflops isn't as important for a console as ram. what game really needs 5 trillion calculations per second. 2 to 2.5 teraflops for a console would be the equivalent to 4-5 for a pc. but high speed ram and lots of it can hold much more and way more detailed textures and graphics in its memory and transfer it seamlessly to your screen. much more than say a gtx 680 with only 2 gddr 5 ram. so in reality, the ps4 is top of the line gpu in performance, and it will rival a hd7970 or gtx 680 or 690 and surpass it just because no gpu as of now can keep up with it and it's extra teraflops will remain unused. teraflops are meaningless, as no game needs 10 trillion operations per second. unless you are going for photorealism and 4k resolution. but at 1080p and 60 fps, the ps4 will rival and/surpass any pc for the next few years. the capacity to hold lots of detailed graphics in its memory and transfer it rapidly is much more important.

Battlefield is basically a multiplayer-only game, an always on DRM is redundant.

ShaneLopresti.
Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 are the only games that I can remember EA NOT fucking up with its publishing practices.

AUSTIOPOROSIS.
Battlefield yes Mass Effect debatable. it lost most of its RPG mechanics I loved in the first one.

ShaneLopresti.
I honestly didn't mind so much about that, seeing as I'm not a major player of RPGs. Mass Effect 3 was a fantastic experience for me, ending issues aside.

TheWidowMaker14.
Godamnit EA no one wants Battlefield 4 give me Bad Company 3 anyday

DBZSkyR1m.
No. want all. BF4,BFBC3,& 2143. PS4 all the way. Xbox getting ... Halo...

Brodo789.
Are you mental. I guarantee you it will be coming out for the next Xbox as well.

Darkness0690.
Battlefield and Bad Company are so similar (besides the campaigns) that it doesn't really matter.

Reydriel.
Actually it's a little different. The Bad Company games were made with the console in mind, with smaller maps and tight action for the lower player count. The normal BF's were like the PC's. Except BF3 started becoming console-ish now.

JohnnyPearl5.
It'll probably come DOA due to awful DRM

SoapUMP45.
Even if BF4 on PS4 doesn't look and function as good as BF3 on PC, it's still going to be a significant step up from what I found to be a frame rate issue ridden BF3 on Xbox360. It's fun, but holy cow is it jaggy and glitchy. I still love how the game plays, but I'm excited to see what next gen consoles can do with BF4... and man, do I wish it were BF:BC3

Ps4 and nextbox will kick Wii U and ninnetdo will go bankrupt

Playstationnet.
I hope its exclusivity only for the next Gen consoles because then the people can enjoy better graphics ( using all of frostbite 2 engine) and buy the ps4 and nextbox ( plz no WII U version, it will suck on the Wii U

Unbreakable_666.
Not sure where i read it but i red they said that BF4 WONT be using the frostbite engine because they don't have enough time to bring frostbite over to next gen so BF4 is using a different engine. Maybe full on Frostbite 2 will be for Battlefield 5. I guess we'll get the official word on the 26th.

Bowin.
Pretty sure that's someone posting bad info. Frostbite 2 should be very easy to port to ps4/720(rumored specs). They are Essentially pc's. They will probably be frostbite 2 ready on pcs max settings minus some toned down shading or effects. In essence frost bite 2/(2.5) with almost bf3 graphics meaning it will look amazing.. Unless you already played bf3 on pc. I'm excited because I stopped pc gaming and bfbc2 and bf3 on consoles looked like trash compared to a proper gaming rig.

Unbreakable_666.
I'm not a pc gamer. Was going to build a gaming pc this summer to finally start after seeing BF3 on max settings. I don't get why some pc games look like pure crap like dayZ. I hope BF4 is impressive but more importantly ships completed and not shipped unfinished like BF3 did.

RCslayer.
And all the trolls will run to pick it up on day one. EA blows

uhhh. BF3 disappointed completely. Shipping with 90% of the glitches that were pointed out in the beta, it still shipped while incomplete not to mention it took them almost a year to put in the "back" button for you to leave a lobby between games, that should've been there from the start. BF is not perfect in any way. I hope BF4 isn't being rushed and can rebuild the BF reputation.

we are finally going to see what the ps4 is truly capable of. to get an idea of how it will look on the nextbox, you'll have to wait until bf4 releases on the wiiu. pc gamers will have to start saving up and upgrade their rigs to at least an hd7970 or a titan to be able to play bf4 at ps4 resolutions and performance. maybe they'll surprise everybody and allow ps4 to join pc servers since the architecture is so similar, and settle the score. mouse vs. dualshock 4. no contest, dualshock 4 (21st century tech vs. ancient hardware.) graphics, no contest. ps4, as it will be the lead platform and no pc has 8GB gddr 5 ram. ps4 eyefinity 1080p projector on a curved widescreen with a 7.1 surround mega bass thumping system vs pc 3 monitor set up, no contest ps4, as the pc gpu will explode into a massive fireball while it competes with windows 8, java, youtube, Facebook, google, internet explorer, firefox, norton anti virus and bf4 for power. ps4 bf4 gamer vs pc gamer, no contest, pc gamers will wall hack, aimbot, lag switch and hack their way to victory and still lose, ps4 gamer.

Hmmm, I don't see how that invite implies BF4. I don't think of Battlefield when I see rain. And the lights look like brake lights and headlights to me. I hope I'm wrong though, BF is my favorite franchise.

so doesn't this make pc gaming cheaper? btw im not even a pc gamer

primalxconvoy.
If it's dirt cheap, then I'm interested. Otherwise, why else would anyone shop at the Walmart of videogame publishers?

sopranosfan.
You fooled me once EA but not again. You got my money on BF3 with the clever trash talking with Activision. Not charging for stat tracking which ironically you now do and COD doesn't. Even worse to me was the charge for server rentals which ruined the game for me. Not knowing the rules and getting kicked for winning was really annoying. I traded mine in within a couple weeks of the changes.

Sankha4296.
This confirms that whatever Premium video DICE is going to release for Battlefield 3 Premium members this March is none other than a sneak peek of Battlefield 4.Count on me I can read DICE's lips. So, better get ready for the Battlefield. Hooah!

Slydice.
Yeah codblops 2 was fun but by the time I got to rank 55 I was done. The sights and gadgets were cool, but it feels so closed in next to bf3's open maps. And bf3 seems to require more tactics than twitch.

justanotherpopsicle.
I hope their decision to keep the same art style and font doesn't carry over to keeping that ridiculous blue tint that turned BF3 - a beautiful looking game -into something quite ugly.

TreacherousDarklord1.
Or maybe it was the horribly muddy textures and short detail distance of the console versions.

tglendinning2.
Um... You clearly haven't played BF3 that much... There isn't a short detail distance on PS3... there is on Xbox. Sure it's not PC Ultra, but I haven't noticed it. I will say the old Fat Boys seem to process better than the slims and super slims. Interesting.

TreacherousDarklord1.
There is a short detail distance on both Xbox and PS3. Driving down a field and rocks and grass are randomly appearing in from of me. That's a short detail distance and happens on both. There is no need to start a fanboy argument.

tglendinning2.
Well I'll keep a watch for it, but I haven't seen it on my version... In multiplayer, that could also be attributed to internet speed? I run fiber optics hardwired in.

TreacherousDarklord1.
It's also very obvious when you're counter sniping someone in the distance and they are seemingly floating in the air because the mountain is too far away to render. (Operation Firestorm, Russian base.)

tglendinning2.
Well I just checked my version (PS3).. on my game, this does not exist. The mountains are there. The only glitch that exists for me is the sniper spot where you place your beacon and you can fall onto the tallest tower. If you personally saw this, you must have the Xbox version and if you do, did you install the 2nd texture disc that came with the game?

TreacherousDarklord1.
Yes I have installed it. And it is quite possible it has been patched. But none of this takes away from the fact that BF3 looks awful on consoles. Both consoles.

tglendinning2.
While of course the PC version triumphs... it is widely known that the Xbox version of BF3 is not visually as good as the PS3 version.

tglendinning2.
An unbias comparison without both our trolling. lol http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head-battlefield-3-analysis/

TreacherousDarklord1.
Well, by your statement, you're the only one trolling here. It's obvious you didn't even read the article nor take into consideration what I said. Not to mention, this comparison is of single player missions, not multi player which everyone plays. The comparison says the PS3 version has better AA, Post Pros. FX, and Z-fighting. None of which actually help with the overall look of either versions of the game. AA smooths out jagged edges caused by a low resolution. Post FX are annoying as hell and only add things like motion blur and lens flare, which I hate. And Z-fighting helps with the flickering of distant objects, NOT OBJECT POP-IN. And honestly, if you aren't going frame by frame like these guys are and are just playing and enjoying the game, you won't notice any of these differences. But I'd like to see a multiplayer comparison but the only thing anyone wants to do is single player, which no one plays.

tglendinning2.
It answers your question to why your mountain doesn't exist and mine does. That's all.

TreacherousDarklord1.
No it doesn't. Apparently you don't even know what you're talking about. Not a single thing they mentioned in the comparison would affect the rendering of distant polygons, or even closer objects, like rocks and grass, that appear before you as you drive through a field on maps. But as I said before, I haven't played BF3 in a while so it is quite possible, and most likely that it was just a glitch that has been fixed.

tglendinning2.
Have you played it on PC yet?

TreacherousDarklord1.
No. i was going to, but I've really grown to hate the game through people's over usage of ECM jammers. So i'll stick to better PC games

tglendinning2.
I will be stoked if Planetside 2 comes to PS4 (which according to people I know in Palo Alto, it is).

Slydice.
I've never noticed any pop up while playing bf3, and I've been playing all day. The only problem I ever had was when I first got armored shield was that the snow wouldnt load properly on the mountain map but after two rounds it never did it again. The frame rate never drops unless some is lagging which is a connection issue. I cant speak for the xbox version but even in endgame with the dirtbike on the snow map it runs smooth no pop up not frame rate issues. but now that I think about it sometimes if you go up to high in the choppers it does do it sometimes but that often.

TreacherousDarklord1.
If you don't notice it then you don't know what your looking for. It happens in all games, on all platforms, just less so on most PC games. It is method developers have to use to reserve system resources, and because consoles are less powerful, they have to lower render distances even more.

Slydice.
I know a bit about how games work, but bf3 is pretty good about hiding it. When I get on tonight Im prolly going to be lookin for it now, thanks lol.

justanotherpopsicle.
nope, it was the blue tint for me. I thought the console versions looked great, it was the frame-rates that were the main issue. Yes, it looks better on PC but that's a pretty redundant point to make given that consoles are 6-7 years old...

tglendinning2.
Yeah the console versions run at 30fps

Saphius.
You have all forgotten what's really important in this BF article... SimCity is a disaster and EA wants your souls.

PhunnyConflicts.
I have BF3 on my 360 and PC, and I can confirmed that BOTH has that stupid blue tint. And no, I won't forget about Sim City, EA >=(

I hate how EA makes you pay to play online. My buddy rented BF3 and he couldnt even play online with me he had to pay 10 dollars to play online he said F that and never played it. EDIT: Yall idiots saying its fair to pay to play online after you already paid full price or Used price for the game should get beat with a cricket bat by either Coach or Bill.

SinHasFlesh.
You would sound more threatening if you didn't use a cricket bat...

reagan_youth82.
Buy a new copy of the game instead of used and you can play online all you want.

metalgearkarwan.
buy a new copy and don't have to pay for online. It's fair because they still need to pay for those servers to be up but they don't get a penny to help keep them running for used game users. It sucks but they actually have a point here

skitzofits.
It's a used game which means it was already bought at full price and that person paid for server access for as long as the game is active.. now he no longer has the game so he already footed the bill for the guy buying it used. Online passes are a giant rip off and a slap in the face.

TheRandomnessXD.
Dude...support the industry. People worked hard on these games, and they deserve some money from whoever wants to play it. They're a business and businesses got to make money

skitzofits.
Dude... support your fellow consumer. The people that worked hard on the game got paid you think they do all that work for free then rely on game sales to get their paycheck? The publishers are greedy as shit. Every multi million/billion dollar company is ok with used sales except the games industry everyone else realizes it's ok and does not hurt their bottom line and is not gonna break their bank except the games industry. Pirating? (Not saying stealing is ok) Every big retail chain loses 60 to 100 thousand a year per store and they are still sitting pretty on a giant pile of money and Don't screw with consumers in an attempt to get that money back (always online drm and screwing with used merchandise). Publishers in the games industry are the greediest bastards ever.

DEagle88.
Thank you! I don't care to read all the responses to this, but this is spot on and it confuses me how people don't grasp it...Sure businesses function for the purpose of a profit, but all these major companies make PLENTY regardless of used games sales and even pirating, and it's no excuse to rip off the consumer...People counter with, "The guys that make these games work hard and deserve it!"...Correct! They do! But most are making well over the average income, more than policemen, and teachers!...But even that is not the point, it's the CEO's and top percent that are sucking it all up...You think when they nickel and dime us, that money goes straight to the guys behind the scenes?!...It reminds me of the episode of South Park about piracy...If you buy used games or pirate, some top EA CEO make have to trade in his G4 private jet for a G3

shockeastwood.
Do you have any idea how much is spent on just MARKETING a game alone?

shockeastwood.
Millions. Battlefield 3 cost $50 million just for marketing. My point is that your whole arguement that they're all just rich bastards who couldn't care less about losing a sale and that it's not hurting the industry is bullshit. Buying used games is the equivalent of buying stolen goods off the street, only it's not illegal.

skitzofits.
Wow buying used products is the equivalent of stealing? You have dumb founded me with your ridiculous ignorance that is the most ignorant thing I have ever read. You agreeing with companies raping consumers so that they can pull in 100 million straight profit over 95 million is flat out asinine your whole stance is asinine.

shockeastwood.
The fact that you can't see how used game sales is hurting the industry just to justify you being a cheapskate and claiming I'm ignorant when you refuse to see the truth that is being told to you is not only the definition of IGNORANCE itself but simply amazing. I don't agree with EA on pretty much ANYTHING, except this. I pretty much despise EA and all their greedy ways and the lengths they will go to profit off of destroying quality games, but EA and pretty much any other publisher deserve restitutions for used games sold in RETAIL FRANCHISE stores, and you're an idiot if you don't see how GameStop is STEALING from the Games industry.

skitzofits.
Could not give you an exact number but what does that have to do with ripping people off? Is them spending lots of money on advertising justifying abusing consumers?

WhaleTail.
I'll never give ea another cent. F them

ghostdog6891.
yes exactly, ea didnt have to pay to publish the used game

skitzofits.
There is that and as far as the server excuse goes that people like to use there is no increase to server load the players pretty much swap places and EA and other publishers don't pay out anymore for people who bought used then they did for the guy who paid full price. People that defend this crap are crazy I bet they would even justify publishers charging five bucks a month to use the servers.

shockeastwood.
Used games are whats causing all these stupid ideas by EA and every other Publisher. Because they're getting ZERO profit of what used games sellers like GameStop are making off of them so they decided to find another way to make up for the losses. GameStop makes %100 profit off of used games sales and refuses to pay the developers, plublishers, and manufactuers anything. Used games are the cause of all these new strategies to milk games for everything they're worth. So excuse me if I don't shed a tear that you have to pay $9.99 to play your game online when you probably spent half of what the game is worth.

skitzofits.
Everybody already made the money on the disk it's already been bought once. They don't deserve one cent on used merchandise. I guess family's buying from salvation army and goodwill should start paying cash out of pocket to the clothes and toy manufacturers to before their kids can use the clothes or play with the toys huh?

shockeastwood.
That's a terrible analogy aimed at trying to make me look like a douche, only it won't work. Donations to goodwill and used games are on two totally different plateaus, The Salvation Army isn't profitting off of the donations are they? No. Is GameStop? Yes. VERY much so. In one fiscal quarter alone they generated $38 million alone in profits and paid no restitutions whatsoever to the developers or publishersl. Basically that's like stealing your car, selling it for double what it's worth and paying you nothing. It's WRONG.

shockeastwood.
Used games are a giant rip off and a slap in the face to the industry.

Wessking1990.
Considering this series started as an online-only series (unless you're counting playing solo against incredibly terrible AI bots in the early games), that is fair that they would want to receive money for people playing their game.

TreacherousDarklord1.
They do recieve money for people playing their game! They get the money when the game is bought! EA loses no money on used game sales. They just don't get as much money as they want to so they cry about it!

Bowin.
Game developers and producers do lose $ when you opt to buy used rather than new. If you buy used they make nothing.

TreacherousDarklord1.
CoD Blops 2 has made over a billion dollars for Activision. Please explain to me how they loose money from me buying a disc in which they've already made their $60 on. They don't. Financially, a used game sale is no different from a sale that never would have happened. $60 was already spent on that disc. Do you think ford loses money on used car sales? How about Apple on used computer sales? Isn't it odd that the game publishers are the only ones complaining about used sales in their respective industry? "If you buy used they make nothing." This statement only supports my point that a used sale equates to a sale that would have never happened in the first place. If you buy used they make nothing. If you don't buy at all they make nothing.

Bowin.
That's my point if you opt for used they make nothing. If you buy it used from GameStop or some other used vendor, that vendor makes the $. That will Detour new game sales and take a HUGE bite out of profits. Less profit= less developers, programmers, testers, R&D equipment etc etc. Used games hurts the industry and its development to tackle bigger better projects multiple projects. Small dev teams doors are closing all around the world and a scary rate causing unemployment and stunting the industry's growth for AAA games and job Opportunities for new programmers to get the on the job experience to make the next big game. All because some cheap a$$ can save the equivalent of a few value meals. Stop being so cheap people.

TreacherousDarklord1.
I see you are still ignoring my point. Saying buying a game used hurts the company's potential profit is like saying not buying the game at all hurts their potential profit. "All because some cheap a$$ can save the equivalent of a few value meals.Stop being so cheap people." You honestly think used games are the reason studios are closing? No, they are closing down because they are making games no one wants, so no one will buy. It's is amazing how EA has tricked you into being so sympathetic. While they're still rolling around in tons of money.

Bowin.
I really don't have any feeling one way or another for ea. dice I love. I get some hate for ea and I will leave it at that. However if you think used games are not a contributing factor for developers closing doors your dead wrong. Ea, activision, ubi, are not going anywhere the big AAA parent companies are safe. It's the smaller guys and subsidiaries that make middle ground games games that make games that may not appeal to the the masses. Plenty of developers make games that will never score a 4-5 star review but still make decent games. Some of them of course do shut down because they suck that will always happen.

WhaleTail.
Good. I hate ea. wish I could pirate bf4

shockeastwood.
Yes. They do. Because if you choose to buy a game rather than buying it new, the they have just lost a sale. Not to mention that %0 of the sale goes to the Publisher. and with all the new sales going on nowadays, how many people do you think choose to wait until the game they want hits the pre owned shelves? Especially since it doesn't take long for them to end up there.

TreacherousDarklord1.
So if I give my game to a friend, I am depriving the publisher of sales? Get the hell outta here. If 1,000,000 people buy a game, 500,000 sell it, and those 500,000 get bought again, that is still only 1,000,000 people playing the game. No more, no less. A used game sale is equivalent to a sale that never would have happened in the first place. By your logic, renting games hurts game sales as well. So does letting people borrow games. And having a buddy come over to play deprives a company of precious profits. So we should ban game rentals. Ban the sharing of games. Ban friends playing the game together on the couch.

Slydice.
yeah they didnt do single player until bad company.

Bowin.
I wish they spent no time working on single player. Seems like wasted resources to me on a bf game.

ghostdog6891.
it dose not matter ea gets payed for the new disk sold, it dosent cost any thing to sell a used game, when you buy a used game you are buying the original buyers right to online play

Bowin.
Cod and most other games use your console as a server. Dice does not half ass this and has servers running 24/7 365. So I'm ok with them forcing you to buy the game or drop 10$.

TreacherousDarklord1.
Oh you're okay with that? That's funny because DICE isn't the only one that has dedicated servers. But BF is the only game with dedicated servers that charges you if you don't buy new. Hmmm, interesting. How can people can be so blind?

Bowin.
Yes I'm ok with that. I believe bf games are the pinnacle of fps games from 1942 to that latest games. I believe their hard work and dedication to dynamic multiplayer should be protected. It's how capitalism works. If every other shooter on the market was a free download with free dlc,s I would still skip over them and pay retail for BF. I'm not saying every other shooter is crap I have played them all I just prefer bf and I'm not a frugal person that only thinks every time you pay for something it's a company's way to screw the consumer.

renejr818.
If you choose to pay less for a used copy I don't see the problem. It's not like you have to play it right away. Buy it new or play something cheaper. I think online vouchers are a good solution for developers. I rather see developers make money than scam artists like GameStop. Always online is straight up retarded though..

TreacherousDarklord1.
Online passes don't benefit devs. Nor are they a decision of devs. They are thrown in by the publishers to squeeze every last undeserved dollar out of a game.

TheRandomnessXD.
No, a portion of every profit made goes to the developers as well.

TreacherousDarklord1.
Of course. You've got to pay the employees. But do you honestly think a guys and gals at DICE were thinking, hey, lets restrict the game to people who buy it used. Nope, it is most certainly derived from EA.

Bowin.
You just said they don't get benefits from online passes don't benefits the devs. Now you say of course they do. Clearly your are talking out of your behind.

TreacherousDarklord1.
And you are just trying to find a reason to reply. Yet you ignore half of what I said, in both comments. What I said was, of course a portion of the profits go to the devs, but the money coming from online passes, if they even get a slice of that money, who knows, is completely unneeded. And it is a decision of EA's to include online passes. Not the developer's.

renejr818.
It's their IP. I don't see what the problem is. If someone doesn't support a developer, the best thing to do is not buy their games.

TreacherousDarklord1.
Yet another blind idiot. Do you think Ford should charge you extra to reach 80mph on a used Mustang? Do you think Apple should charge you extra to access the internet on a used iPhone? People like you are the reason why the gaming industry is going do the crapper for the consumer. Constantly having always online DRM, and online passes forced down our throats. Don't you think it's fishy that EA is the ONLY publisher that continually complains about used games time and time again? Also the fact that these complaints have only just sprouted THIS GENERATION? How about you think for just one second. The developer has been supported. When $60 was originally paid for that one disc. If 1,000,000 people buy a game, and 500,000 people sell it, but those 500,000 copies are bought again, that is still only 1,000,000 people playing the game. Simple math lets you know that a used game sale is no different than a sale that simply wouldn't have happened. If I give an old game of mine to a friend, am I hurting the developer's profit? I mean come on. Think ahead a little bit before you sound like an idiot.

Bowin.
Your saying the parent company (ea) making money from sales a game dice made does not benefit the dev team? Even if its not a direct profit sharing (even though I know there is profit sharing) it still reflects one the team that made it. You don't have a clue man. You spout about things you don't understand because all you care about is being cheap and feel like a Victim.

TreacherousDarklord1.
Why, thank you for informing me on my thought process! I had no idea! How about you think a little bit about what you're replying to before you do so, because your ignoring a few key points.

renejr818.
A publisher markets the game and takes care of production, GameStop just robs children and their stupid parents.

TreacherousDarklord1.
You aren't telling me anything I don't already know. But things like DRM and online passes are obviously a decision of EA. It doesn't take a genius to realize it. And Gamestop has absolutely nothing to do with the statement you relied to.

PS3_RULZORS.
Well BF3 did :P

dsaunders1.
But it wasn't exclusively DRM

1Absolutebadass.
It was ridiculous for BF3 not to have an offline multiplayer option. If they want to compete with COD, they need at the very least to include the bare essentials.

renejr818.
I would rather DICE use development time for polishing the game rather than using it for specifying bot paths for each map that comes out. Call of Duty maps are tiny compared to BF3.

Gsxrguy.
It's funny how cod reintroduced the bot system, Which is what made classic multiplayer games on n64 an shiit even more fun. They didn't seem to bring back that nostalgia though. Lets stop bringing back old ideas and focus on integrating newer and actually better improvements.

1Absolutebadass.
On the contrary I think offline multiplayer is as important as anything else. To me BF3 could've been one of those classic games that you find yourself playing with your mates like a decade later, still appreciating it and having as much fun as ever, but in a few years the servers will all close and we won't have that choice.

Gsxrguy.
Which DRM is not

Reydriel.
(I thought you mean local split-screen multiplayer, but you know that's impossibel in BF) You mean like "Conquest with bots"? Because the bots would need to have incredible AI, something hard to make :/

hotrodCoracle.
I thought it was pretty fun in the other BF games. Must not have played those.

hoytoy1219.
Basically

Rafterman374.
That actually wouldn't make a difference for BF4.

Grayle.
Now that would be a pisser!

GAMINGGOD.
But It's EA!!! Be Careful!!! Because They Dump All Games One-By-One!!!

Leahmatters.
dont forget to charge twice for your game EA, oh wait you call it "extra maps" http://www.amazon.com/God-War-Ascension-Collectors-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXCQ6/?tag=thnenedo-20

Brodo789.
What are you talking about? It is extra maps. New maps, new game modes, new guns, new assignments, new camos, new dog tags, premium double xp events, all at a discounted price. And an even bigger discount if you buy the premium edition of bf3 which is only like $40. It's worth every penny. The fact they they are still adding new content to a game that is almost a year and a half old is awesome.
