What Is Assassin's Creed: Rising Phoenix?
BtG_Woody.
AC4 has been in development since Revelations came out in November 2011 and scheduled to be released in October 2013. Unless my math is wrong, that's less than two years, and definitely not "2/5-3."
Hoopstar245.
anyone can use the word "development" that means it could of taken them 1 year sitting around a table eating food and then randomly talking about ideas
BtG_Woody.
Very true. I imagine the first year was mostly design and concept work, and don't quote me on this, but it sounds like they didn't have a full team of developers building the game until after Far Cry 3 shipped.

no, it has been in development for 2 years which makes it not an annual development cycle, but an assassins creed game has been released every year since the franchise began so it is on a yearly release cycle. also you are correct there were many similarities between ac 2 and brotherhood and revelations, however i personally believe this to be a sign of consistency rather than "the same" the little differences made the games feel special but still like an assassins creed game. so yes ac3 had a very change in tone and it is quite different; it's fucking awful.
djml9.
ya, apparently every sequel of a game is supposed to introduce a new character, a new setting, and 100% new gameplay, but keep the same name. They seem to not understand that they are simply asking for a new IP, but when a sequel matching theyre desired scale of change comes out(e.g. starhawk), they completely ignore it. Starhawk was amazing, but Light Box Interactive suffered with low sales because it wasn't the same thing as the other games, so people didn't want it. People ask for change, then shy away from it.
juniorknoxville.
yeppers i agree, and they never seem to stick to any part of the narrative, they just shoe horn new characters and abilities in to sell them games rather than make a smart inclusion to the narrative as a whole, Connor as a character makes no sense and achieves nothing yet we couldnt focus on desmond for an entire game because that wouldnt sell to people.

Just like how cod started off. (the modern warfare and milking). They should have gone the GTA route and release them a couple of years later. Imagine assassins creed 3 with all the features of revelations and brotherhood included. It would have been as epic as AC2 was. But they are releasing new features each time and adding more. Finally we got a new engine with new animations so it looks much better because I was getting sick at looking at revelations. Cod has two studios doing the game each year (one for black ops and the other for mw). Ubisoft have plenty of studios all chipping in for AC and that's why it's always different but I will admit it got a bit stale by the time revelations came out. funny thing is people will still buy it and they will still milk it. Just look at COD; still making billion $s.

AC games are not developed by the same teams, so each game gets almost 3 years of development time ! the creative director of ac3 said it last year. That's 9 + 1. Project Legacy (FB) is almost a game, but is more of a Brotherhood tie-in. Also, there were three (?) iOS games as well (Multiplayer, Multiplayer: Rearmed, and Recollection). You're right. It looks cool. It's nice to get a series you enjoy every year rather than waiting years for every new instalment like the legend of Zelda.
buffalomike.
It's a trailer though... Every AC trailer has looked badass. Always wait for the gameplay trailer before judging.
gamesarefunn.
well the previews sound great, and i liked AC 3( when nobody else did), so i know i'll like this one
djml9.
If you saw the PS4 announcement, the AC4 trailer wasn't too far off from what they showed it was capable of.
buffalomike.
It's one thing to do CGI/cutscenes, it's an entirely entity to achieve that in gameplay. Graphics can be a fine and dandy house, but if the underlying foundation, the gameplay, is bad, the graphics don't. mean. sh*t.
djml9.
did you see Deep Down? I think PS4 can handle great gameplay and graphics simultaneously
buffalomike.
You're missing the f*cking point. Did I say it couldn't, or did I even question the PS4's graphical power or it's ability to have gameplay(Many are questioning Deep Down's legitimacy since it's technically one big scripted cutscene and the UI likes to vanish and reappear in the trailer, I trust the Unreal Demo over it personally)? No. I'm talking about the AC4 TRAILER, where we are looking at a pure CGI trailer just like the other games had, that was not created within the engine used for the game and does not feature actual gameplay what so ever. And I said, ya it can make a nice cutscene, but if ACIV lacks gameplay wise just like 3, then those nice graphics don't. mean. sh*t.
djml9.
AC3 lacked gameplay? and I was just sayin that a PS4 AC game could very well have those graphics, not that AC4 would. And don't people question everything's legitimacy. I thought it was gameplay because of the little hud in the corner showing what was equipped. A cutscene wouldn't have that.
buffalomike.
AC3 was nothing new and was somewhat dull in the gameplay department. Also, everyone has a legitimate reason to doubt Deep Down. First of all, after what Capcom has been pulling with on disc DLC, and advertising a feature on the 360 version of SFxT that isn't in the game and never will be among other things, there's already enough room to go 'I don't believe you'. Remember Me and the Revelations port look to be the next tests of whether or not they've changed. Also, tell me, did you see a compass? A minimap? Health? The weapon on screen ever except when it jumped to third person? How it wasn't clear who the 'player' was? At one point, it said you were holding a torch, yet the lighting effects did not match how it should have been if the camera was holding it? The last moment where you see the little HUD, it doesn't match up with the character's currently equipped weapon? It's a lovely looking game, but as of right now, it's just a big scripted cutscene with a half assed cover up to make it appear to be actual gameplay.
djml9.
Hope. You should try it sometime. Why can't games have both incredible graphics AND gameplay. Isn't that what next-gen power is all about? Letting devs achieve anything they want without having to sacrifice one or the other. We don't know anything about deep down. Maybe they are going for super realistic. Maybe theres no health bar because you can't survive getting mauled b a dragon, and then lit on fire. Maybe your character has to physically look at a map or compass. Not all games are the same. I kinda figured the "player" was the one the camera was following and why would the camera be holding a torch. I saw a great looking, 3rd person, medieval game, not skyrim. I don't watch trailers for new IP's and complain that its not the same as games that are already out. Why you insist on wanting everything to suck ass instead of hoping for the best and enjoying the dream is beyond me. Im just gonna pretend you were on drugs when you played AC3 and don't remember anything about it. There was ALOT of new stuff.
buffalomike.
'Why you insist on wanting everything to suck ass instead of hoping for the best and enjoying the dream is beyond me.' Did I say it sucked? No. I said 'It's a lovely looking game, but as of right now, it's just a big scripted cutscene with a half assed cover up to make it appear to be actual gameplay.' meaning it was in the engine, but there was no actual gamplay, from a company that very few people have trust in these days. It hasn't been especially trustworthy with SFxT's on disc DLC and missing advertised features on Xbox, Asura's Wrath 'True Ending' DLC, MvC3s handling and balancing and Ultimate version(and on disc DLC), the company's overall handling of Megaman, the complete trainwreck of RE6 and ORC and their out of touch producers to the point where they had to port Revelations to the home consoles to try to redeem themselves. And let's not forget that Lost Planet 3DS game Japan got, where they retardedly made all the text art assets so that it became impossible to pirate and patch with a translation, but also too expensive to localize. I have every reason to believe the company has just given an in engine custscene and nothing more. Until I see someone, with a solid PS4 controller in their hands, actually playing Deep Down in front of me, I have every right to distrust Capcom about this. My trust and any hoping with that company has been smashed over 2 years. 'Im just gonna pretend you were on drugs when you played AC3 and don't remember anything about it. There was ALOT of new stuff.' It had a simplified combat system that lost much of what made AC2 and it's spin offs so great, the Hook Blade was ditched despite being more efficient for climbing, throwing knives were gone, the poison blade was gone, it lost the hidden gun and replaced it with flintlocks and muskets which were almost always the same efficiency, the knives and tomahawk were virtually identical, all the swords handled the same and made no difference, it ditched the armour and health for an over simplified regenerating health bar, it had decent Naval missions that were very hit and miss, I could no longer chuck heavy weapons, the bow was mediocre at best especially after losing the crossbow, the rope dart was fun but wore off quickly, Hunting wasn't that entertaining and the fact wolves and bears generally devolved into QTE was quite boring, climbing was the same and at times more annoying and lacked the awe that scaling the buildings in 2 and it's spinoffs had. Just because it had 'new' features didn't mean anything. Most of it was mediocre at best, and the core itself played out the same as it's previous games without enough deviation and new and excellent features to make it feel fresh. 'Why can't games have both incredible graphics AND gameplay. Isn't that what next-gen power is all about? Letting devs achieve anything they want without having to sacrifice one or the other.' And like I said earlier. Until I see the controller in action with the game engine, I refuse to get excited over it. It's why I'm not getting hyped over ACIV, it's why Deep Down doesn't excite me, it's why most E3 trailers don't get me, it's why Blizzard trailers don't pump me up, and it's why commercials that use real action or CGI to promote the games don't convince me either. Actual solid gamplay with everything in place first before I even begin to think of excitement.
djml9.
Jesus. man. I thought I wrote long comments. Ok. You specifically said, "AC3 ws nothing new. I said there was a lot new, not that it was all great. New is new, and we're talking about new. It was never a quality debate. I care not for what Capcom has done in the past and RE6 was awesome. No it wasn't the same as RE1, but if it was, you'd all be complaining that it was the same. I wasn't a fan of RE:ORC, though. Frickin hated fighting Leon. Made you feel like an NPC trying to kill the player. Well you saw KZ:SF and those were great graphics and it was clearly gameplay. I don't see why AC5 or Rising Phoenix, if be the case, cannot have CG trailer graphics. I was never saying AC4 would, just that PS4 could handle it.
Mashlany.

TheCynicalGamer.
In the same way that every Call of Duty post has people complaining about how *that* is released annually.
AugustFourSeven.
I think people wouldn't be complaining about that if AC3 was good. It's starting to feel generic and stale, that's why people are complaining about it being annual. No one wants annual crap, if the games were phenomenal, then being annual would be no problem, who wouldn't want more great games? People want less games to be released if that can bring the quality up. That is the same thing with COD as well. They release the same game over and over, understandably, because they want to release them every single year. Once that well dries up, they're going to be trying to actually create a new game, new engine, etc and use that to continue to push sales along each year.

Agreed. AC3 was a colossal disappointment, in that it really was the same formula yet again with the added (and largely pointless) activity of hunting. The once interesting story also hit a horrible brick wall and its conclusion left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. The series seriously needs a break or to end entirely.

in 2 years, it'll be running on an outdated engine.
the_hitman86.
Mashlany.

How come every Assassins Creed post has people complaining about it being annual...
Once that well dries up, they're going to be trying to actually create a new game, new engine, etc and use that to continue to push sales along each year.

oh shutup. If it was like call of duty where they just added a new skin every year than fine i'd say the same thing. but they improve the series EVERY YEAR. I mean shit AC3 had the best combat i've ever seen in an AC game, it was addicting. I am fine with AC's coming out every year as long as they keep up the good work, and so far they haven't slacked once.

Agreed. AC3 was a colossal disappointment, in that it really was the same formula yet again with the added (and largely pointless) activity of hunting. The once interesting story also hit a horrible brick wall and its conclusion left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. The series seriously needs a break or to end entirely.

How come on An AC article, i'm the only one that actually likes AC!
KickassConnor.
You're not alone, I love the franchise myself and I thought AC3 was brilliant. Gamers are too jaded and ungrateful these days.
Benderisgreat.
I liked Assassins Creed 3 fine, but I was not a huge fan of Conner, and something about free running felt off.
KickassConnor.
It wasn't perfect, but then again I've never played a perfect game
Benderisgreat.
Agreed, but Assassins Creed IV is already looking amazing!
TheCynicalGamer.
You're not. Everyone here likes Assassin's Creed; that's why they're complaining about Assassin's Creed becoming an annual release; because they don't want to see a good franchise go down the same route as Call of Duty: A cynically-milked, over-hyped piece of crap.
Sportsmaniac1322.
Exactly. I love me my Assassin's Creed, but I don't want to see it become the next Guitar Hero. That's what happens when you milk a franchise.
TheCynicalGamer.
Exactly. I've had a love/hate relationship with Assassin's Creed, but it's a franchise that keeps me coming back. But I won't keep coming back if it's the same thing every year. If I did, then that would make me a hypocrite, considering that I complain about Call of Duty all the time.
Benderisgreat.
But the difference is that Call of Duty literally releases the same game every year, while Assassins Creed has multiple teams working on each game for 2-3 years so it can be an annual release.
tymillz102.
And COD has multiple teams that spend about 2 years working on the games. Yes it's an annual release, but it's not an annual development.
Benderisgreat.
As much as I doubt that 2-3 years goes into a Call of Duty game, I have to ask, what's the problem? You have these teams putting a huge effort into these games, and people complain that there is too much? Really? Here's how an Assassins Creed game is for me, I buy it, I play it for 2 weeks, 3 if I want to get all the collectibles, and come back to it occasionally for DLC, the rest of the year I spend playing different games like Mass Effect or Dishonored, I just don't get how people get tired.
tymillz102.
I can't see how people can rush through games like that. It took me about a month to finish AC3. When i finally finished the game, i had plugged about 24 hours into it and had completed 75% of it. When I get a game, i take my time with it. Play it a few days, then play a few different games since most of the time I have at least 2-3 different games to play at the time. Like now I'm juggling Borderlands 2 (haven't touched DLC yet), Dishonored, and Playstation All Stars. In a few hours, you can add Spec Ops: The Line onto that list. I probably won't be done with any of them until sometime next month. When I'm done with at least 2 of them, i'll get Bioshock and Crysis to add on to that list. My point being that you don't have to rush through your games. You can simply take your time with them and switch between them as you play.
Benderisgreat.
I don't rush my games, I play about 2 hours a day for 2-3 weeks, and mainly with Assassins Creed, I'll have days were I do nothing but explore the enviroments. Have you considered that you play too slowly?
tymillz102.
I didn't mean to direct that comment directly towards you. it was meant to be a generalization. My cousin got Brotherhood on christmas day and finished it 4 days later, did the same with Killzone 2. I only play 3 days a week and on those days i play for about 2-3 hours. With AC3 i actually spent a lot of time exploring. When i finished the game, the following day i spent about 5-6 hours doing nothing but homestead missions, collecting pages, frontier missions, finding viewpoints, and opening up the map. I wouldn't say i play games too slowly either seeing as how i don't get to play everyday, and the fact that I normally have about 2-3 games to play all at the same time.
Benderisgreat.
I understand, given that my job gives me a lot of free time I end up going through games quite often, and I play multiple games at once, like right now I'm on the Mass Effect trilogy, but I don't start a new game until I finished the last one.
TheCynicalGamer.
Yes, but annual releases aren't a good thing. Pretty soon, you get bored of the franchise. And because Black Flags was developed alongside Assassin's Creed 3, it means that Ubisoft haven't had the time to learn from the mistakes they made in Assassin's Creed 3.
Benderisgreat.
1. How are they not a good thing, at the worst they aren't a bad thing. Here's how I play an Assassins Creed game, I buy it, I play it for 2 weeks, 3 if I want to get all the collectibles, have immense fun, and come back to it occasionally for DLC, the rest of the year I spend playing different games. You really get bored that easily, it's kind of sad. 2. It actually started about a year after Assassins Creed 3 started, and is still in development, and they obviously are picking up on their problems, they're focusing on Naval combat, which everyone loved, I already like Edward more than Conner, and if the Cinematic trailers are anything to go by, the combat looks even cooler.
Maynpayn.
Becoming?
TheCynicalGamer.
Well, it *is* an annual release. Thanks for the correction.
Maynpayn.
The reason I pointed that out is because lots of people seem to think this is something new, but it isn't. Because AC series has been annual since 2009(not counting mobile).

Milk that cow ubisoft. Milkkkkkkkkkkk IT GOD Damm IT!
taylork93.
Don't fully understand why people are complaining about AC being milked, they're good games and good stories, plus Ubisoft is a business, it's there to make money, and they know they'd lose out on a lot of money if it was a crap game, so why don't people wait until the game's out and see if it's good before accusing of milking it?
slimlyrics.
The problem is that these tactics are ultimately leading the franchise to ruin. On of he hallmarks of an enduring franchise is it's ability to get its fans to anticipate the next entry. The problem with the AC series is that this yearly cycle is quickly driving the masses into franchise fatigue. No matter how good something is if it is continually being made it quickly becomes tiresome. You can have your favorite food everyday but sooner rather then later it quickly becomes tiresome. It's human nature to become bored of the same old thing. Such was the case during the "Music peripheral era. The continual milking if the genre was mainly responsible for its quick and ultimate demise. You just need to look at franchises such as the Saw films to see where AC is ultimately heading. I love the AC series. I've placed every single game including the handheld titles. But i've noticed that I've lost the enthusiasm for the franchise that i use to have. I just can't maintain enthusiasm for something that comes out every year. Even if this new title brings something new, will it really be any different from the last iteration. This new one seems to focus little more on the sailing mechanics of AC3. Stretching the AC franchise releases wider allows the brand to continue to remain relevant until its inevitable demise.
taylork93.
Fair play I'll give you that, but who knows is Watch Dogs becomes a major success they might have another franchise on their hands so they can alternate between them plus who knows if they end up doing more Far Cry or something completely new. The thing that AC has as well that Music Peripheral games didnt have is story, as long as they keep advancing the story they might not run into problems, it's worked for Marvel with their films why not with AC?
slimlyrics.
That's one of the problems that games such AC have. Ho long can you drag a story through yearly iterations before it becomes stale? Yes most of the stories have their own individual protagonists and setting, but these stories are interconnected with one another. The franchise is beginning to fell like an American soap opera that's been on air for 40+ years. It just seems to keep on going with no sign of a real ending Yes [SPOILER ALERT] Desmond's arc ended with his death, but the story line is still continuing with Minerva's rise and the fate of the rest of team Assassin still unanswered [SPOILER ENDED]. One of the reasons why yearly sport iterations and games like FIFA &COD continue to be successful is because their main selling point isn't their story but the multiplayer aspect which is much more dynamic than story driven games. Even with that, these games are also ultimately expected to wane in popularity in the long run. I really do hope that Ubisoft decide to reverse their yearly release plans because i strongly believe that it will ultimate lead to the death of the franchise much sooner than it should.
Sportsmaniac1322.
Good, innovative games take longer than a year to make. It's why series' like this and Call of Duty almost never change from game-to-game. That's why we complain.
taylork93.
How do we know they haven't been working on it on some level for longer than a year though on some level they could have had story elements planned out various other pieces all ready to go, I say just wait and see
Sportsmaniac1322.
Story elements can come together quickly, and I have no doubt that they've had the story arc in place for awhile now. But as far as gameplay goes, we've been playing the same game since AC2. It needs more time in the oven to evolve.
taylork93.
Thing is they change too much and it's a big risk, plus I thought the increase on naval gameplay and giving it an overworld similar to windwaker, is significant evolution
Sportsmaniac1322.
So now you're saying that they shouldn't take risks, that repackaging the same game over and over every year is the way to go? You'll tire of it eventually, just as we all have. And I hardly count recycling the boating missions from AC3 significant evolution.
taylork93.
No I'm saying they maybe shouldn't take too much of risk and how do we know it's a straight up rehash of 3's naval missions? there isn't even a demo out yet. I'm just saying compare this or 3 to the first one and you'll find multiple differences between them. We didn't go straight from Homo Erectus to Homo Sapiens, we changed gradually over time, too much change is extinciton
Benderisgreat.
Assassins Creed 3 was completely different.
Benderisgreat.
And that's why they work on each game for 2-3 years, seriously, this game has been worked on since before Assassins Creed 3 was announced. And Assassins Creed 3 completely revamped the gameplay too.
oreofestsar.
they srarted working on black flag before revelation came out so it is not like they have been working for only a year but i agree that is why it is not ws respected a series as uncharted halo infamous or god of war because these do not relewse annually
DjChiszle.
I'm so tired of hearing the "It's a business" excuse for game companies. They've been a business since day one. McDonalds is a business but they don't have Mcribs available all year just to milk it for money? We want good games but we don't need the same good game every 10 months
taylork93.
Never had a McRib as far as I know we don't get them over here, but why not if it makes them money do it I say, yearly stuff can still be good
BxRaptor.
At least someone understands... If something is making you money... and your goal is to ultimately make money seeing as you are a business... You're going to keep doing it. And to be fair it's not even just about making money, personally I think it's about expanding a franchise (if possible) and seeing where else you can take it. Halo for example... If anyone knows anything about the Halo universe they'll know that there could be hundreds, I shit you not, hundreds of possible games and films and whatever else, surrounding that franchise to create and explore. Because the Halo universe is THAT rich and THAT awesome.
taylork93.
Exactly admittedly I only got into AC round about October/November whenever 3 came out I had played the first one previously admittedly I didn't enjoy it that much but I played 2 and I was hooked, in the space of a two weeks I bought Brotherhood and Revelations and I picked up 3 last month, I love the whole story and universe of it. to be honest I'm slightly disappointed they're sticking with the Kenway family but I'll let it play out and see, plus whatever this game is if it's another Vita title then awesome.
gamesarefunn.
don't you know ,people complain about anything nowadays
sabaki10.
I agree. I can't see why AC3 was a bad game. I personally enjoyed them all. Perhaps it's also about the fact that this franchise is a very good one and it hurts some people to see they can't keep up with it, due to financial issues or other games that get released in the same period as the AC games.
taylork93.
Plus it might be a case of they want get a couple extra AC games out to buy them extra time to work on a next gen AC title

Every Assassin's Creed game to date has been well recieved (except Bloodline on PSP). ACIII suffered because they were trying too many new things at once, and stripping out a lot of what worked in the past in the process. At least they tried something. ACIV is thematically more interesting for me personally. Bottom line, they could release these things twice a year, and nobody's forcing you to buy them. If YOU personally are suffering franchise fatigue, take a break for a year or two and go play something else, It's not like Assassin's Creed is going anywhere. As long as the games are good, I'll keep buying them, but ACIII was a misstep in a lot of ways, and UBI is a smart enough developer to learn from those mistakes. What I don't care for is silly card games and stripped down mobile games. If this image is for a new Vita game on the other hand, BRING IT ON.

Let's hope they do a decent real world story this time, or at least find a good reason not to have it. It was going to be a great story about conspiracies, but after Patrice Desilets left they decided to just wrap it up and take out all the mystery there was in it. AC3 was meant to have a great story in the real world, But it's a chase for something stupid artifacts nobody cares about and then you just watch a cutscene that gives you two choices but you can't make any. All the things that were hinted, nothing in there. The Adam and Eve, Lucy thing, never existed... (BTW this leak is 99% from Ubisoft)

Yearly AC gets more hate then CoD. The Funny thing is that unlike CoD Ubisoft seems to atleast try and keep it fresh and/or step it up every time. You know i'm a little against this release a game every year only to make money and not actually caring about the game itself and if it's any good. But as one of IGN's people put it... Can't remember who, but if i get 1 great game every year i really can't complain. Be it 1 year or 10 years. As long as it's good i don't mind. Quality is what i'm after. Quantity ain't any good if the quality is shit. But if Quality is great i can't really say quantity is bad. Well i'll atleast stand on the side line to wait and see. If the game is good you people can bitch all you want. In the end of the day a good game is a good game. It might be milking... But i don't really care because i'm into gaming to have fun. And as long as the games are good i have fun. The fact that there is 1 game every year only means more fun if they are good. YAY! If it's shit... Well then feel free to bash Ubisoft. But until then let's all just calm out titts and go back to hating on games that actually get milked dry whit nothing new to them.

In my opinion it could be the start of a series showed from the Templars viewpoint. If that's the case, how cool would it be to see how things might have went if Abstergo were to succeed where they previously failed, a "what if" scenario if you will. But then again it could be something entirely different. Either way, let's not repeat the same mistakes in any new AC games that I felt screwed the series up previously ok Ubisoft? Revelations anyone? I love the AC franchise but after the second game it started to get farther and farther away from what AC was in the first place and throwing in thousands of stupid secondary objectives for full synch and waaay too many time wasting things like bomb crafting and objectives and most of all ruining the best character imo Altair. Altair was awesome in AC and then in Revelations to me anyways, he seemed like a totally different person. I still to this day haven't beaten Rev. (and I've had it since day one) because I just can't seem to get as involved with the storyline as with previous versions so I play for 20 minutes and get bored. Rev to me had no real connectible face to the bad guy where as 2 and BroHood had the Borgias, who imo were the best enemies to date, and it drew me into the story and I never wanted it to end. Playing Rev, I always just want it to end. Please let Black Flag be great. I just got AC3 so I'm not even going to say anything about it just yet accept that so far, so good.
Rynjin.
Hm. I figure I must be the odd duck on this one. I see so many people saying Revelations was where it started to go downhill, and that Brotherhood was good, but I never liked Brotherhood that much, and I thought Revelations was bette rin most respects. Though I do have to wonder...how is Altair anyone's favorite character (especially if you haven't played through Revelations)? When he was playable, he had almost no personality, and the subsequent games had him set up as a historical figure and didn't develop his personality that much either. At least Revelations attempted to characterize him a bit. Made me actually care about him in the playable flashbacks.
D-Bane12.
Actually there is one key detail in this picture, check out the flag on the back of the wall next to the last "S" in "Assassin's". It got the Abstergo logo upside down in front of red circle, which means that whoever own the room are against Abstergo. I think the people in question are Erudito, the group of hackers who goal is to expose Abstergo secrets. I guessing this because they not affiliated with the Assassins (or at least I don't know if they are) hence lack of the Assassin symbol; and also on that old Facebook game Project Legacy, Erudito mess with the main page which included making the background red and flipping the Abstergo logo upside down. So I think that Assassins Creed Rising Phoenix (whatever it is) is going to be about Erudito, we hardly know anything about them expect their hackers and a pain in Abstergo neck.

The last amazing Assassin's Creed was AC2. They work on multiple titles at the same time, that's how they release one every year. Assassin's Creed has been mediocre since Brotherhood. Ubisoft needs to take a f*cking break from Assassin's creed. They are just going to ruin the franchise.

Way too much Assasin's creed in my opinion. 1, 2 and 3 plus the other 2 games on consoles, 1 PS Vita game 2 Nintendo DS games and a PSP game. 9 games since 07. I get it's a franchise but eventually people will give it the Mario treatment of "I like it, but it's more of the same"

People who say that about Mario must be ignorant people. If you don't look at the recent 2d installments the 3d games have been completely different from each other.

Everyone says they hate the AC3 ending where Desmond sacrifices himself to activate the global shield to save the planet from being burnt to a crisp. In doing so he also frees Juno, who apparantly still dwells in that bunker (perhaps in stasis). Sure it looks like he got fried by the machine but think for a minute - he was carrying the apple and wearing the shield ring that Connor passed down. Perhaps the blast didn't kill him. Maybe Desmond will be the Rising Phoenix. Or maybe it will be Juno. Either way, what comes next is bound to be interesting.

olivermunck.
At first i thought to myself that this franchise could use some extra development time, and that a yearly release is clearly a bad thing because writing is going to the drain, and the gameplay has been the same since the first (oh shut up, dual wielding isn't new gameplay) I'm aware that there's two teams developing on the franchise, and for some reason this is supposed to balance it out? This is a good argument? Saying that it actually ISN'T undergoing rushed developed, but still releasing with such displease, how can that in any possible way redeem anything? Assassins Creed still appeal to a lot of people, but it seems to be that the series which was very much groundbreaking in 2007, and had great writing throughout some games, has become such a major franchise that it secures Ubisoft a good deal of money either way, and what's happening to it, is what's been happening to a lot of franchise: milking. This is seen in merchandise too. Don't tell me you bought an assassin's creed hoody. The games had decent gameplay (i mean it was good, but it was a lot like Uncharted or Prince of Persia) - what to me had it going, and kept me playing was the great story and beautiful scenery. That's been going downhill since Revelations, and Desmond - which has now been canned due to some really REALLY poor decission making, i mean the character never ever had a chance to breath, and when they forced us to distance us from him in Revelations with his new make over (which was poorly explained too: "better face animation"... yeeh.. 3 games, and NOW you change the look of a character..) it was all so obvious that they had gone too far to actually know how to close it up in a manageable way. Assassin's Creed is still one of the better franchises out there, but it's in no way what it once was. Ezio and Rome: those are the things i think of, when i think of Assassin's Creed.

probably just another Vita game.. dont think the movie would be called Rising Phoenix, on the movie i think hope just call Assassins Creed.
Rynjin.
Well you'll recall they made another "movie" here a while back called Assassin's Creed: Embers. I don't believe this is a movie in the traditional sense (feature length theatrical release), it's just something they're making to tell a bit of side story. Probably focuses a bit on Connor's rebuilding of the Assassins in America (Assassins rising from the ashes of their destruction, as phoenixes are wont to do).
Murilo182.
I just hope the franchise doesn't go all Call Of Duty and focus only on the features casual players seem to like, adding little to no improvement to their annual releases.

Hmm, if is a Vita game then I guess its a good thing for the system. Although I'd much rather see them offer the Vita owners a different franchise, maybe a new price of persia game. I really don't need 2 AC games released within the same holiday. I picked up Liberation just to support the system but AC3 was obviously the superior game. I will not be picking another handheld AC game if it releases alongside the console version.

Ok, that was mean ign, I click on it a d it says possiblity of a vita game, I go on and in the article you state you know DAMN well thats not a vita game, WTF???
13attle.
Although completely unrelated, it could be about Connor ( Please be so ) ? To some extreme extent ? His story could be continued as a Vita title, I'd love that. But, "Rising phoenix" ?, Rising could refer to Connor, after he realized that all his work was bull-crap and that his family still had to leave, he could be stepping up and rising to become a true master assassin ? As for phoenix, I did some research and it seems like the mythological creature can also be a representative of resurrection or "the exceptional man", yet again, could be relating to Connor stepping up even more ? --- But at the same time the image seems to be set in an Erudito industries area ( they're a corporation that directly opposes Abstergo ), and AC IV is a game that resolves around how the character's story is now a product owned by Abstergo, and this could be some weird, unnecessary iphone title to market the game ?

Just playing through Revelations right now and it's already feeling a little stale. First one was good for what it was. Second was amazing, one of the best games this generation. Brotherhood was pretty damn good as well, loved the setting. But there's definitely an over saturation. I'm really not looking forward to playing 3 (but I will) and now there's already a fourth coming out. It really is getting out of hand. Take a break and reevaluate the series after number 4.
HeartlessPath.
When did Assassin's Creed become CoD?
Unbreakable_666.
since the more people buy, the more they need it. there's not enough DLC in the world to make anyone play any of the last 3 COD games for 2 full years maybe even 3. Some people made to 10th prestige before the first DLC ever came out. Its very hard to make a game last 2-3 years anymore thats not a MMO.
HeartlessPath.
That's actually a very legitimate point, it is hard to keep people interested in the same game nowadays for years unless it's an MMO (even then they do expansion packs :P)

Personally,I don't mind if they release it every year just as long as they work their asses off with each project, but the minor differences, knowing Ubisoft, isn't enough to justify a $60 price tag. Then again no one is forcing anyone to buy each game,so yeah. This is a great example of taking advantage of a brand name and knowing that no matter how minor the difference it will sell like hot cakes. Lifelong AC fan who actually bought the first one at release. Hated every minute of AC3 from the cutscene assassination to the hand holding while climbing. Thought the story was terrible and the prologue must have been the most boring few hours of my life. The cities were the most lifeless I've seen since the 1st game. Don't plan on buying the new one either, might pick it up on Gamefly but who knows I would love to see them go back to crusades and the cities from the original with their new game engine. I was just going to say that they should take a note from Rockstar in regards to their GTA franchise. 2 years between sequels is not enough time to allow for innovation, and eventually the franchise would die from over-saturation (just look at Guitar Hero or Rock Band)

Unfortunately as long as the games re at least pretty good (go look on Metacritic none of them have been widely panned) people will still but them. I have played all of the main console games and can't say that any of them are less than above average in quality in my opinion. I'm still going to buy Black Flag because i ad a ton of fun with III I would be denying myself fun to skip it. If you look at tony Hawk (last "good" one was American Wasteland my favorite is still 4 that was the first one that took a leao forward game play wise and weren;t just mission pack sequels that 2-3 were) and guitar hero those were slipping in quality with the later releases. So they were pretty much killed (Tony Hawk Hd wasn't really a new game) ) I'm not expecting ground breaking I'm expecting entertaining. all 5 that I played were entertaining.
Raiden94.
AC 4 is being developed by a different company than ubisoft, thats what they said anyway. And AC 3 was in development for nearly 3 years by the main branch of ubisoft, while brotherhood and revelations were developed by some minor brtanches, in less than a year each. So yeah, AC3 and 4 are by no means "yearly milks".

There are people who play CoD who aren't douche bags and they don't sit on their computer all day and bitch about people they don't know for buying a game that actually still fun and is a good time with friends. While the series can get very repedative, I've actually had a lot of fun with BO and BO2. And BO2 actually has a good story and the Pick 10 system is actually pretty refreshing.
dubaloseven.
Hey now! I kinda liked MW3 in a casual sort of way.
BluePhoenixRa.
Except they don't spend more than a year working on them. BO2 was made in 9 months. Milking is putting the same things out over and over with little to zero changes. Which is the definition of CoD. This has a different story, person, place and gameplay elements EVERY game.
JawthVader.
I seem to remember Ezio having more than one game. Altair starred in the portable games too.
KNIGHTWHOSAIDNEE25.
Altair was in revelations
djml9.
I challenge you to find more than the gameplay and a few create-a-class options identical to the previous games. I'm getting really tired of this ignorant COD hating. If I met someone ranting stupidly about how "every COD is identical" id probably cuss them out, but you never see it, because half the time, once you finish mimicking the imbeciles that started this idiotic fad of COD-bashing, you go play a few rounds of it. COD does not suck. Is it perfect? NO, nothing is, but you guys dump on it like its a pile of garbage. The devs work hard on their games and you d-bags should be grateful that they are not allowed to track where you are and beat some sense into your ass, since that's where you all choose to talk from.
BluePhoenixRa.
Wow. For one, calm down. Two, MW2 and MW3, other than maps and skins and ONE new game mode, how many things did they change? I challenge you to show me. Did they get a new weapon type that didn't exist already? Did they make a map where they put something fundamentally different and sth that wasn't there in MW2? I'm not blind to not see the changes. BO2 is one hell of a change compared to the previous iterations. Moving trains that hit you, drones. That's innovative. Their create a class is completely new and better than many "create a class"-es out there. BO2 as a bad example, but I used it to tell him that AC4 took longer to make than most "milked" games out there. Also, you (most, not generally you) don't buy CoD for its story. You buy it for it's multiplayer, which has a formula that works. So I for one, don't mind that a new CoD comes out every year. Neither do I mind a new AC every year. I enjoy the games enough to buy them over and over. But my point remains the same, AC isn't a milked franchise. More work goes to it than CoD. EDIT: Also, perks, weapon physics/mechanics come to mind as things that haven't changed in CoD. When was the last time they updated impact or gravity mechanics? And do send them to my house. I don't HATE CoD. I never said it "sucks", you just assumed I must hate it cause I said it's milked. I would love to sit and talk with them, even for an hour. I'm working towards becoming a game developer, so it would be extremely helpful for me.
Killajoe.
i believe that the Development team for COD is now at least 3 times as large as AC and i guarantee that hundreds of times as much money is poured into COD. im undereducated, but im pretty sure saying more work goes into AC than COD is an ignorant statement.
BluePhoenixRa.
Absolutely no need to pull yourself down there friend. =) Since I don't know which games you've played and which you haven't I won't make any assumptions, but only my opinions. It is definitely not an ignorant statement at all when comparing these two games. It's evident on the game play elements and story of AC (Granted Desmond's story ended in an illogical way.) in comparison to CoD's stories and game play elements. The story and game play of CoD games don't last more than 6hrs. No side missions. And extremely linear. Do this, and that's it. No choices what-so-ever. Whereas in AC, you can chose to run through the game and assassinate people at your will. The story is more diverse and in-depth. When I'm playing AC, (Other than some in AC3), I have the ability to assassinate someone this way, or that way. In AC3, you got to live through Connor's life, see him grow up, you could understand that the fact that he didn't have any family members made him all awkward when he was in his Homestead. You could feel for the protagonist. In Ezio trilogy, I felt sad for Ezio losing Christina. That hit me right in the heart. I felt something for a video game character. Can you do any of that in CoD? Did you ever feel anything for Alex Mason in CoD? EDIT: Though I should tell you, I somewhat liked BO's story. Mason was cool with his craziness.
djml9.
COD isn't a story based game. And play MW2 story if you wanna feel. Who's heart didn't sink when Ghost got capped. I was very upset at Shepard. That great feeling when you finally ended that SOB. Hell, i hated him more than Makarov. Did you play the BO2 story? It has side missions that affected the story as well as options that affected the story. It wasn't too long, but the different possible playthroughs add replay value.
djml9.
okay, how many games update gravity mechanics on a regular basis, seriously. They all feel the same when playing. You cannot say they all have the same weapon mechanics. Hit box size, bullet inaccuracy, and latency are all unique to each, even if only slightly. Play BO1 and MW3 then tell me they play the same. Perks count as create-a-class options. What weapon type are they gonna add, hmm? They try to keep them as down to earth as possible. I know bo2 has non-existent weapons and takes place in the future, but its still in the realm of possibility.
thelastspartan87.
Yeah, they work real hard for all of six months. You can argue however you like, but the games are rehashes every year. The game is violence for the sake of violence and is completely thoughtless. Not that I mind violent games, but its just overdone. The first Modern Warfare was amazing. After that it just started going downhill. Feel free to bash me and call me whatever names you like.
djml9.
ive seen plenty of cod dev videos and they pour their hearts and souls into the game. Why is every sequel a "rehash"? why is anything with a similar concept a "clone"? I'm getting tired of the ignorant statements. The game is not "violence for the sake of violence." There is a complex storyline that involves you saving the whole damn world. The MP obviously doesn't have a "purpose", but who the hell expects a story from multiplayer, really? You said I could so I will: you're just a self-entitled, greedy little parrot like half the internet and cant just enjoy a game because its fun. You don't understand the concept of a sequel and spread your ignorance like its fucking gospel, And before you try to take it personal or go "I didn't say...", that statement goes to all the parrots that bash on any game with a gun, not just you. I see comment after comment calling every shooter "generic" or a "clone" and, honestly, I just wanna punch the imbecile out of all of you. The only thing you have the right to call a rehash are HD remakes, because that literally what they are.
buddha508.
its funny because you cod bashers are ALL alike we give you hard FACTS of changes in the game and ppl like you come back with "uhhhh derp it rehashes" with no real backup, does it feel the same? no shit sherlock its a wartime fps they ALL feel the same from battle field to graw to cod, and yes i do play them all, but thats the point, what do you ppl want? them to give you shields in cod? no because you then youd say "er muh gawd theyre copying halo!" if you dont like it dont play it its really as simple as that. play cod 4 then play blops 2 and tell me theyre the same game. you can now decide to have no weapons no perks a combo of them, decide if you want grenades or not, forsake certain things for more attachments, the intro of the pick 10 system was brand new, the killstreaks? yeah of course theyre similar because in war how many different ways can you do killstreaks? you call in air or ground support period
djml9.
THANK (non-existent) JESUS, someone who isn't a complete IDIOT. I commend you, sir, for your functioning thought process. Ive played COD, Killzone, Resistance, Halo, and Bioshock. Of all those, I can honestly say that COD has the most noticeably different feel between sequels. Play BO1 then BO2 and tell me they are the same. I have no idea what graw is.
buddha508.
lol the new ghost recon games, but yeah i jumped on world at war just for fun and it is literally unplayable its a completely different game and it just makes me laugh because all these cod bashers go out and waste their money on a game they know they dont like, play it for a week, realize they STILL suck at it and then proceed to say its the same game with little to no experience with the product at all, now dont get me wrong ppl are absolutely entitled to their own opinions i just get a real good laugh at some of the idiots that just say uhhh derp all cods ahh duh same and have no facts to back it up other than er muh god the guns look the same, like no shit its a semi-realistic war game
xXEatMyBigMacXx.
I know hes right its not milking it if they changed everything about it each game.
wii_love_boston.
Having played BO2 I can tell you that it is a HUGE improvement over the rest of the series. The story is actually good and the Pick 10 system is pretty refreshing. The weapons are also actually ballenced this time. No more Famas everywhere you look.
renejr818.
Wasn't the AnvilNext engine created for Assassin's Creed 3? I don't see how Black Flag was in development at the same time they were creating a new engine unless it uses the old one.
Deadlyasn23.
They started developing AC3 alongside brotherhood and then started black flag the year of revelations. Since anvil had been in use for a year, they used it on black flag too
renejr818.
So they were working on AnvilNext, ACIII, Revelations and Black Flag? Doubt it.
Guest.
It uses AnvilNext, it was in development a little after AC III.
renejr818.
That actually makes sense.
6_30.
No it's still Ubisoft making it. Its not whole new company, its a whole new team within the same company. Ubisoft has 26 studios around the world, the largest being Ubisoft Montreal with like 2,000 employies. They have teams in a bunch of studios, including Ubisoft Montreal all working on AC:VI. I guess right around the end of Revelations they started development on VI. I think its safe to say they're also working on AC:V now, just waiting to announce it till AC:VI has been out a month or two.. lol
PHRYNO.
Study your Roman Numerals. No disrespect, it was just slightly confusing.
TyRedwood.
Even if these games aren't intended to be milks and do take 3 years, releasing one every year makes them boring and just as bad as CoD's 2 years
wii_love_boston.
AC4 is being developed by a different 'developement studio' than AC3, but is still being published by Ubisoft, just like all the other ones. Not a different company than Ubisoft.
HDLuffy.
the gaming engine is the same the graphical engines are already made...just gotta change the backgrounds and quest objectives. pick pocket this guy, kill this guy....etc. its a cash cow
Bm-123.
And Naughty Dogs methods
shafiq95.
they say that about AC 3 and look how many glitches that game has....because of it i cant get a platinum
hccompany.
That's because they developed it on the AnvilNext engine, which was pretty new at that time. For AC IV, they'll have more experience with the engine, plus other games are gonna use it like watch dogs so we can expect the next games to have less glitches.
Mako.SOLDIER.
Watch Dogs is not running on AnvilNext
carlosmaestre.
Watch Dogs is what and where AC fans want the franchise to be - on modern era and looking awesome
shafiq95.
thats the reason why i dun support yearly release, the game wud have less glitches if they had taken more time
proteus1031.
Long production cycles dont guarantee glitch fee games. Fallout 3 and Skyrim were in production for years. We all know the PS3 troubles with Skyrim, but even the PC and 360 versions of it are riddled with glitches regardless of development time.
babakuso.
Your logic is flawed because AC3 had more glitches than Revelations and AC3 was a 3 year development cycle whereas Revelations was only 1. The reason for the glitches is because they made a new engine for this game and hadn't worked out all the kinks. But doing so is impossible because there is no game company in the world that has the resources to spend that much time on testing. I'd rather deal with a couple of minor glitches in AC3 than wait another year for it. Honestly, what a bunch of whiny bitches. I was hoping to come here and see some historical speculation to the next game's setting, but instead everyone is complaining about minor inconveniences. I don't remember what IGN actually stands for but now I wonder if it's not Ignorant Gamer Network...
jonathanober.
less glitches than your grammar?

6_30.
No, but it's appreciated by anyone desiphering your words.
edeprez1.
You just made me decipher your words.
remidee727.
the games was fine. you people complain about assassin creed glitches really. There nothing like the glitches Fallout new vegas or Skyrim had during their launch peried. I loved AC3 but I must admit I skipped the last two entries in the series, so for me it was awesome. but I didn't experience any of the glitches people are complaining about. And in my opinion AC3 was very polished because I played some under developed games during launch, such as Battlefeid 3, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas just name a few
6_30.
If you didnt play Brotherhood or Revelations you missed like the best parts of Ezios story.. well, in my opinion.
Raptor_J3SUS.
The glitches in Skyrim and Fallout weren't game breaking (I didnt play on PS3), 9 times out of 10 they were actually hilarious (sabrecats somersaulting across the plains, dragons flying backwards). A huge part of AC games is flow, though, and the glitches that happened definitely broke that. After drop assassinating guy, I took off through the alleys, with guards chasing me. I ran through a crowd, through a field, went to hop a waist high fence...and Connor ran into an invisible wall. Or the like 30 times I would try to climb a tree to get a feather, because Connor just decided not to grab a branch that is a couple inches to the right of his wrist. Or the time I was walking down the street with zero notoriety, trying to tail a guy, when suddenly I'm on full alert and everyone is attacking me, and I get a mission failure.
shafiq95.
i dun mind glitches myself,BUT if the glitches manage to interrupt my gaming experience,in otherwords the missions.Of course,I will get pissed off.Until now,the game doesnt register a certain number of feather which i collected, there was also a tree glitch which stop me from collecting the feather anymore.here etc
BluePhoenixRa.
Except for the fact that they aren't made in just a year. Every single game out there has had patches,it isn't a random problem. Just buy the game a month or two later, most will be patched.
Justinsipod3.
The same thing happened with BF3 and Frostbite 2
GryW0lf.
Watch Dogs is running on Disrupt engine.
renejr818.
Not if it's "been in development for 2 years".
IPunchMidgets.
Oh dear heavens, you can't get a bloody trophy!!! The horror!
shafiq95.
oh,so you want more reason?huh.Let me help you with that. 1.Whats up with the half assed mission planned especially with Charles lee chase scene? 2.Why was the ending so rush in the end, they could have an epic father and son conversation which would make the scene powerful, but instead they threw at us alot of shit in mere seconds at the end. 3.Whats up with the half assed post game missions 4.Again,Glitches!The reason why i cant complete some of the missions in the game.It really ruined my experience with the game. 5,Why does the modern guards in abstergo use their guns like they were still in Connor's time line, taking every shots so dramatically
anthonygrogan.
1. Mediocre chase, not enough to put a game down for it. It also made as an introduction to the great scenes at the end of the chase and in the tavern in the frontier. 2. I simply cannot defend that one. Ubisoft knew that the majority were pissed off with Desmond being around, so they killed him to be over and done with. 3. The post game missions were great. One showed how what Connor fought for, in freedom, would be slandered and disgraced through slavery. And the next at the village told of how Washington and co betrayed Connor through selling the land his people lived on. Keeping them safe was his motivation for going through hell, and, as I said, was betrayed by those he called friends. 4. You started your comment with 'want more reasons?'. I don't have to explain as you've basically went against yourself. 5. Would the game be as enjoyable if you just walked in and the guard shot you five times in the face without any time to react? People would bitch about it if you just kept on dying because you were taking out other guards whilst getting shot over and over again.
shafiq95.
Im not talking about the epilogue sequence,im talking about the one after that. Also, why not,the game could give us a heads up like.''yo,unlike the guards from your ancestors timeline, this guards shoots a couple of rounds before he stops. So,kill them when you get your chance."Besides Desmond doesnt have a lifebar.Anyway,I guess I will stop bitching about AC4 until after i seen a few playthroughs and reviews. sigh....
jpmjr.
Well, without the trophy he will not be uber special and for the rest of his life. He will only be "special" if you know what I mean.
Deadlyasn23.
Why can't you get it? I got mine within the first 2 weeks of launch with no problems. Either your copy sucks or youre not trying hard enough
Raptor_J3SUS.
Yeah, but that's to be expected with a new engine...hopefully the Black Flag team will see how many bugs AC3 had and prepare for release accordingly
babakuso.
Sorry man but they fixed all those glitches like 5 days after launch. If you can't get platinum, then it's not their fault, it's yours. (Not an easy platinum though I will say.)
shafiq95.
Frustrating is a better word. Also, the last trophy I'm talking about is the homestead thingy where you need to record the activities the people are doing
NZForTheFallen.
That trophy was indeed frustrating but it didn't seem to be glitched in anyway.
babakuso.
It was definitey frustrating but they did patch it. I know because I had the same problem. It's a pain in the ass but you can get that Plat if you still want it. (I just got it like 3 weeks ago.)
JawthVader.
I've only came across a few bugs but one of them is game breaking. When going through the underground I found one of the rooms you have to blow open with the barrels, but when I put the barrel down the screen goes white and makes a really high pitched noise, it was so loud it scared the shit out of my cat. I've tried to go back and do it three times and it happens every time. EDIT: I think there may be another game breaking bug in the Benedict mission, but I'm not sure. If I catch the guy I'm supposed to chase I lose the mission, if I kill him I lose the mission, and if I let him go I lose the mission. I tried following him for like fifteen minutes but he just goes in circles. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or if I'm doing something wrong.
shadowgamer91.
so what your saying is, they're doing it the same way Activision does it with COD
candy-coloured.
Yeah, it started developing BEFORE AC3 - which means that they have little time to improve on the shortcomings that came up after reviews and gamer experience.
televised-god.
That may be true, but shin_0 is still more right in stating that it is very difficult for games to be revolutionary on a yearly basis.
badass_bunny.
Hardly anything that is not new IP can be revolutionary especially not something like AC series which is established and doesn't need to re-invent itself all over again cause people like the games because they know what to expect from them.
Feeeli.
They always, ALWAYS claim that. ''Oh, this new game? Nah, we've been working on it since being in our mothers' wombs.''
Hoopstar245.
So your telling me that something that was in development for 2 years when no new consoles were announced is going to be ground breaking? Ya I doubt that, AC needs to take 1 or 2 years off cause I'm already getting bored with the same thing
abercrombiepat.
then don't buy it. they aren't making games for just you.
Hoopstar245.
i enjoy the story but i thought the whole point of the series was to move FORWARD through time not go backwards
Zero31505.
It needs to take a break because YOURE bored of it?
Hoopstar245.
ya it really does
djml9.
the PS4 was started long before they announced it. If you saw the announcement, its obvious that Sony's been talking and working with Devs since the beginning of making the PS4. PS4 was announced a few weeks ago. Do you really think they just now started working on it?
neslynes.
how about you take a break from playing AC game for a year or 2. your one out of thousands of AC fans so your opinion is irrelevant. sit down and relax.
Didact..
Oh come on they've said that about every AC after AC2 - how the hell can you keep believing that BS story?
gojiwarrior.
For the people who keep saying AC is being milked, go harpoon a whale in AC3 then. If you can do that, I might take you seriously. Dumb turds think the games are like the COD series where they just release the same game every year. Go recruit assassins and send them out on missions in AC2 while you're at it.
Murilo182.
They said they were working on AC3 since 2009, but I find that hard to believe. It felt really rushed.
Wilsononetwo.
Well its kind of like the Duke nukem syndrome(obvs, not the exact same thing but you know), technology nowadays updates so damn quickly that when you start development too early, theyve almost gotta completely revamp a project because its already behind the times, therefore more bugs, tears and uncompleted ideas.
parsontman.
but they are unable to learn from their mistakes from Assassin's Creed III
AbyssusIncendia.
Good point, yet you can't learn from previous releases like AC3 if you've already been developing another title one year before the previous' release. That's why some things like bad AI and poor tecnihcal aspects have been haunting these games since Brotherhood, which had fewer ofc, but by now the games are too messy and although I personnaly like a select few were fortunate not to suffer as much from the glitches, others did and so I'd like Ubisoft to carefully plan their future releases so that the franchise doesn't die out before it's time.
kooks101.
....thats the point, how are they suppose to make actual changes from genuine customer feedback from a game like AC3, when its sequel was well into production before it was in even released?
Sportsmaniac1322.
So true. In a year's time, all you're doing is repackaging and rebranding. We're still playing Assassin's Creed 2 four years later.
nickjarno.
1: 3 was pretty different from 2, the change just wasn't as big as between AC 1 and 2, with 1 being a glorified tech demo. 2: AC 4 has a big open sea world, I'd see that as pretty different. If the change is for the good remains to be seen though. Just hope they cut down on the fetch quests, that was really the only thing than annoyed me about 3.
Braollus.
Not quite truth, AC2 was quite the same as Brotherhood and Revelations, but AC3 was developed for 3 years, and it is quite different, in tone, feel and play style, so it was not the same and so seems the new one is also in development since 2011, so releasing it next year, or some time close to next will be a development time of 2/5-3 years so it's not a yearly release, get yo facts right. And people should think before posting stupid complain posts
Hoopstar245.
exactly i dunno AC3 felt rushed to me
Wockes.
The issue isn't how long each game has been developed. It's how many games have been released.
juniorknoxville.
no, it has been in development for 2 years which makes it not an annual development cycle, but an assassins creed game has been released every year since the franchise began so it is on a yearly release cycle. also you are correct there were many similarities between ac 2 and brotherhood and revelations, however i personally believe this to be a sign of consistency rather than "the same" the little differences made the games feel special but still like an assassins creed game. so yes ac3 had a very change in tone and it is quite different; it's fucking awful.
djml9.
ya, apparently every sequel of a game is supposed to introduce a new character, a new setting, and 100% new gameplay, but keep the same name. People ask for change, then shy away from it.
juniorknoxville.
yeppers i agree, and they never seem to stick to any part of the narrative, they just shoe horn new characters and abilities in to sell them games rather than make a smart inclusion to the narrative as a whole, Connor as a character makes no sense and achieves nothing yet we couldnt focus on desmond for an entire game because that wouldnt sell to people.
hermitsage.
It might be for PS Vita who knows

TOM266026.
But the games are in development for more than a year ac3 started dev when ac2 was released.
Zipstacrack.
Different...development...teams... That's how they can do yearly releases. Because AC4 has been in development for 3 years now! AC3 may not have been the most exciting game in the cycle but it had some amazing quality. That was quality built up over 4 years! The release means nothing, they just plan way, way ahead. Does no body READ the AC articles before they jump to the comment section have a moan about the quality?
inferna_assasin.
I am starting to think that myself, if these guys think that AC is getting dull, well then that's their opinion, but I love hearing the stories each year
djml9.
Ha! Read? You actually think these people read? It gets on my nerves how many of these people's complaints, questions, and ignorant insults are addressed in the articles they post them on.
ZeroMaverick09.
Assassins Creed hasn't been groundbreaking since AC 1, so it's not like it matters.
OneGamersOdyssey.
The reality, however, is that each console Assassin's Creed sells millions, often times above 10 million--every year. So what business, in their right mind, is going to just chill on making 100s of millions of dollars each and every year? Yeah, it sucks for the fans, but the fans are to blame--we buy these games, every year.
Wilsononetwo.
That is completely debatable, Ubisoft has like 10 developing teams. I get the feeling everyone just jumps on the hate yearly Cod bandwagon, they found a winning formula and they are capitalizing on it, its just good business. Now Ac3 wasnt groundbreaking, but I have enjoyed every AC to date, I might be in the minority who loved AC3 but I say as long as its different eras and characters bring it on. One thing I do hope they really focus on though is creating a more memorable main character, Ezio has gotta be in the all time badass videogame character list and connor isnt even on the list.
xXEatMyBigMacXx.
They worked on this game for 2 years so its not like they just pushed out another game. And it can still be ground breaking with people from Far Cry 3 stepping in to help.

they have nearly 30 teams at ubisoft. they are not taking one year for each one.
DRC88.
It might sound stupid but part of what makes good games great is the anticipation you get as you wait for it. Metal Gear for example does this really well
Didact..
It's not only Metal Gear - any franchise that is popular and released every few years does this well.
DRC88.
GTA is another one that springs to mind. i like the AC and COD series but i can never get excited for them
Latnok.
Just look at COD; still making billion $s.
hccompany.
AC games are not developed by the same teams, so each game gets almost 3 years of development time ! the creative director of ac3 said it last year. did you see Deep Down?

How come every Assassins Creed post has people complaining about it being annual...

How come on An AC article, i'm the only one that actually likes AC!

GTA is another one that springs to mind. i like the AC and COD series but i can never get excited for them
Latnok.

Jesus.

How come every Assassins Creed post has people complaining about it being annual...
Once that well dries up, they're going to be trying to actually create a new game, new engine, etc and use that to continue to push sales along each year.

The series seriously needs a break or to end entirely.
anthonygrogan.
So, it was a colossal disappointment? That means what you got wasn't what you were expecting. What did you expect from AC3 Mr. Traitor?

Count333.

If you guys look closer, the Abstergo symbol is upside-down. That most likely means that Erudito is involved. Perhaps the movie would center around Erudito's rising? Just a thought.

That's because the multiplayer is always the same, the story is only 4 hours long and for the most part the players are douche bags. Whereas Assassin's creed stories (although not perfect) are 3-4 times the length, the multiplayer is clever and the people who enjoy it aren't douche bags.
KNIGHTWHOSAIDNEE25.
well the multiplayer douches are not quite as bad as the Garry's Mod multiplayer douches, pornography heaven! (come to think of it... they are not that bad)
Wilsononetwo.
PC douchebags are in a different class, they have reasons for there elitism, Consolers usually have no basis for superiority except there own arrogance.
wii_love_boston.
Well excuse me.
JawthVader.

KNIGHTWHOSAIDNEE25.

The only thing you have the right to call a rehash are HD remakes, because that literally what they are.

its funny because you cod bashers are ALL alike we give you hard FACTS of changes in the game and ppl like you come back with "uhhhh derp it rehashes" with no real backup, does it feel the same? no shit sherlock its a wartime fps they ALL feel the same from battle field to graw to cod, and yes i do play them all, but thats the point, what do you ppl want? them to give you shields in cod? no because you then youd say "er muh gawd theyre copying halo!" if you dont like it dont play it its really as simple as that. play cod 4 then play blops 2 and tell me theyre the same game. you can now decide to have no weapons no perks a combo of them, decide if you want grenades or not, forsake certain things for more attachments, the intro of the pick 10 system was brand new, the killstreaks? yeah of course theyre similar because in war how many different ways can you do killstreaks? you call in air or ground support period
I don't remember what IGN actually stands for but now I wonder if it's not Ignorant Gamer Network...
jonathanober.
less glitches than your grammar?
shafiq95.
I'm not trying to write an English Essay here,am I?
