No one uses Google+*, but everyone I know personally uses google hangouts now instead of skype. I have even done hangouts with potential employers now instead of skype. Google hangout has much higher video and sound qaulity, it's super easy to use, and, oh yeah, group video chat is free. *Not everyone uses Google+, but millions of people have it. If you have a gmail or use google drive, you also have a google account and a Google+. It's super easy to set up a hangout.
