I wonder if this was planned all along, or if Apple decided to move to sprint after Verizon and at&t put in data caps. The caps, after all, are anathema to what apple is trying to do, and especially poisonous to icloud.

I don't much care for the iPhone, though its certainly not a bad device as much as its just one step behind other flagship phones, in some ways at least, and I seem to always find the need to open the software up.
However you can't deny the awe-inspiring popularity of the device and every single one of its iterations. As such, this is potentially (likely) great news for Sprint, a company that should be rewarded for its, speaking realistically, efforts to provide better-than-competition service as well as boasting about said service differences when all other noteworthy carriers have continued efforts in hindering their services.
Good luck to Sprint. I hope they continue their efforts, all of them, and that they don't stray from this path unless the future of the company existing is on the line.
Also, good luck with your 4G expansion, because damn you're going to need it. :/

If our Super-Androids aren't overloading Sprint's network (and they're not), the iPhone isn't going to.

Justin Card Yeah I love how people always blame the iPhone for Unlimited data going away when none of these 4G/LTE sucking Android phones are doing it.

This is not good, this will surge Sprint user base and will reduce data speeds especcially in NYC since NYC is full of Hipsters, wannabe soccer moms and Asian Americans from the west coast and Transplants who primarily use the iphone. Damn. It looks like I'm going to have to cancel my Sprint family plan and move on to Metro Piece of S$^%.

Mass android exodus happening for this family.. all of our 6 handsets are due for upgrade this month.. all holding out for iPhone.. hoping to see a free iphone 4 for the.kids and $200 iPhone 5 for us.. we'll be able to hand down a few ipods to the younger ones.. It's going to be like Xmas but better because we'll get exactly what we want instead of a half-assed facsimile.
GOODBYE clunky, fumbly, error and.force close prone 3devo with 3 batteries in tow.. hello sexy..

I am surprised how people are worried about Sprint Speed etc with iphone launch. It is not like Sprint did not have smart phones before. They very well do and have unlimited data plan. Most of their phones can be easily tethered and people really use it for hot spot all day long too. If the total percentage of smartphone users is 75% on sprint and lets hope all 75 move to iphone and with some added 10% that will not do any harm to the service. Hope not. Go Sprint!

It is said that iPhone users cause the tiered data plans, now I'm sure of the validity of that, but if Sprint maintains unlimited high speed data for all their smartphones, I'm going to them if the T-Mobile/ATT merger happens.

I don't see why all the hype for the iPhone 5. Right now there are very good phones available such as the new Droid Bionic and other excellent low cost cellphone offers. http://pnoy.me/9O

I'm on Verizon but I'm about to make the switch back to Sprint (even though I hate those annoying Dan Hesse commercials). That's right, I'm doing my part to keep these sharks competitive.

Very cool. I wish them well with the potential iPhone 5, but I'm happy with my Verizon iPhone 4.

too bad, seems Apple is falling behind or playing politics with the carriers, you get this and you get that... too bad

Victor Caballero I think it has a lot more to do with Battery life. My sister, and some of my friends have the 4G androids and they really can suck the battery down fast. That said if they can come up with a auto sensing method of which mode to change to. So first it will look for wifi, then 3G, but if it's video or something that needs 4g it will flip to that. I really do want 4G but not at the cost of what I've seen others paying in bad battery life.

A major phone launch? It's gotta be a re-launch of the Kin! I'm sure of it!
