HTC Flyer Unboxing

Brian McDonnell · Owner/Photographer at BMAC Studio
So, you're just going to leave this false information up on the site? Seriously? Who running the show at TechCrunch these days?

I went to the store and they had a sign that said it was a mistake, and that the real price is 299. What a let down.

I guess before Amazon "kills the iPad", we'll be attending a lot of Androids funerals.

I don't know why people are saying the amazon fire is going to kill the iPad. They are in totally different leagues. The strategy that amazon is using is a good one. I just don't think it works for everybody.

It is just going to kill all the aPad and all the netbooks

Richard Liu my question is how. I wouldn't touch a tablet with only 8gig's space. It's just not practical for me. I'm guessing there will be others out there that love working off of a cloud. I just don't think everyone will.

Just got back from Best Buy was told it was a pricing error online it remains 299.

Store managers are given a long lease in regards to pricing. This may be an error, but it's still on the website 12 hours after hitting a major deal site. For me, unless Best Buy changes the price online or issues a statement, the deal is real and it's up to your local Best Buy store/manager as to whether you're going to pay $299 or $99. Most managers will not sell an item if the store will take a lost so YMMV.

Went to my local Best Buy and they said it was a price mistake. Refreshed Best Buy's website and it now shows up at $299. I saw quite a few loyal TechCrunch fans walking away from the front doors with their heads down at 10am this morning. :-)

The 7-inch HTC Flyer is not available but available are the PanDigital 7-Inch for $84.95, the New 7 inch Android 2.2 VIA8650 Wifi 3G for $73 and the Kindle Fire for $199. http://pnoy.me/9F

TechCrunch - what's wrong with you - update the post - BestBuy has already confirmed it was an error and they are not selling the HTC Flyer for $99. www.Flamboyz.com

Isn't the HTC running 2.3? I'm still not sure if it is worth it. Although maybe charging $99 wouldn't be bad, if you could find another way to make profits.

according to the sales folks at the best buy at 44th and 5th in nyc, it was a glitch - never supposed to go below $299. but they were all sold out anyway.

Just went to the local Best Buy (Palm Beach, FL), but was told the price online was incorrect and it is in fact $299. Bummer.

Don't believe this post. I just called Best Buy and they said that it was an online glitch and the HTC Flyer is still $299.

Just got one in store at best buy for $99. The display price had also been updated to $99 so I don't think it was a glitch...

Just left 2 Best Buys. You got lucky. They both said it was a glitch.

The Best Buy I went to seemed like it was a planned deal. They had the price updated on displays and had a 1 per customer limit on them. They even had 5 associates waiting to help check people out in the tablet section. Kind of weird...

Is there really anyone who was able to take it? In my opinion was just a big false advertisement.

I feel sorry for the people who spent hundreds of dollars on the firsts models of tablets.

Pedro, your comment will most likely be the lamest comment I see all day. Technology evolves, gets better and cheaper. The people who bought months ago at full price are probably enjoying and have enjoyed their device while people like you "wait for the next best thing". Enjoy your paper and pen today while you continue your wait.

Carlos B. Fontiveros It's not what I meant. In my opinion, if other company intends to raise their market share against Apple, they shouldn't charge the same price. The HP's story shows that. What HTC is doing is right thing: people won't buy their products with the prices at the same level of iPad.
Of course I agree with you comment. How many times a spent a lot of money in a new product which in the next month costs the half price.
