My wife plays it for exercise once or twice a week. I think you underestimate how popular this and Just Dance really are.

No offense, but the only dance and fitness games I still enjoy are Dance Dance Revolution, Just Dance, Wii Fit, and Wii Sports. I don't see the point in Dance Central. I can get the same workout doing one round in Just Dance as I get from Dance Central in three songs. Just Dance is also immersible because you're dancing to silhouettes, rather than realistic people. You don't feel like you're mimicking anything in Just Dance. When you dance, you're actually having fun because you know it's you performing those moves---not somebody else on the screen. I get more of a sense of motion and electricity through Just Dance than I would Dance Central. The first Dance Central game was OK, but Just Dance will always be my favorite in that regard. Arcade-wise, Dance Dance Revolution still takes the cake. Edit: Dear Lord, too many usages of the word "dance" here.

Between this and Rock Band DLC ending, I feel like something's up with Harmonix. Tis a shame, great studio. Lots of great memories playing their games.

Like new consoles with new games coming for them? Add into that the diminishing returns on the continued support of consoles soon to be fazed out and you have your answer to what is "up with Harmonix". I saw (sadly I might add) the end of the the RB3 DLC coming, but this suspension of Dance Central DLC does come as a surprise considering how new and fairly popular the franchise is. But it does probably answer the question about compatibility of DLC from this generation to the next gen games - it won't be.
