Microsoft KIN Two Phone Video Walk-Through with KIN Studio Microsoft Launches So.cl As A Social Network For Students | TechCrunch
@Serge Bronstein
why would anyone want to use something where it says "RESEARCH"? so that they can feel like a lab mouse giving free marketing data to microsoft?
@Samy Soares
It looks like a great play from microsoft to mine the data on searches and automate a better ranking of search results in the future... Still, I'd like to check it out for the sake of understanding how it would work. Aren't you curious?
@Samy Soares
Sharing search results sounds interesting! I can't wait to try it out as microsoft makes the access public.
@Ariel Castillo
Google+ ... +1 on Google search? ...
@Samy Soares
Ariel Castillo It sounds like something different to me, but with the same purpose. I'm just curious to see how they will tackle the matter.
@Marko Brennan
hey, they could call it ConnectU, maybe it'll take off?
@Sean Hammons
Hard to believe they'd pick a "hip" short domain like so.cl, but only set it up to work with the "www" sub-domain (i.e. the root domain by itself doesn't load). I guess that's Microsoft for you.
@Ariel Castillo
Google+ > Facebook > Twitter > This. I would love to see John Fernandez defending microsoft on this one.
@Ali Bros
comparing twitter and facebook is just wrong.
@Ariel Castillo
Ali Bros How about Twitter vs + Google+? Britney spear got 1 million follower now. Google+ will soon be kicking some asses.
@Don Hargreaves
I like the idea of reaching out to people I do not know, but have a reason to know, because of common interest.
@Jason Hsin
I think you're gonna like Hyphos.com
@Alberto Tretti
Glancee is doing that in the mobile space. Wherever you are, you can see who's around you (without doing any check-in!) and if you have similar interests or friends in common.
@Sprink Sprinks

name fail. So.Cl? So you say "S O dot C L"? Or just Socl? Good thing they purchased Socl.com to redirect to it.
@Thomas Vellaringattu
Microsoft made the 'students' do the home work and then shut the School! The site is not accessible any more!
@Robin Ashe
So it's exactly like Facebook, because facebook was originally only for students.

Microsoft Launches So.cl As A Social Network For Students.
@Gerry Stoyanova
I'm interested to see if Microsoft will manage to position So.cl so that students don't see it as another social service, but as 'the social networking for uni'. Positioning with academic and interest emphasis is crucial for the experiment to work.
