How To Enable Facebook Timeline Right Now Step By Step Video

How To Enable Facebook Timeline Right Now Step By Step Video How To Enable Facebook Timeline Right This Second | TechCrunch

@Sushubh Mittal
No thanks! I would probably now start using the deactivate option instead of logout on Facebook.
@Isley Sokudo-ryoku Vtania
Mittal the fact that you still haven't used that option suggests you'll still want to use the service.
@Sébastien Boutet
Test it's awesome remember without the timeline you don't have the Spotify music
@Isley Sokudo-ryoku Vtania
Sébastien Boutet Now you've motivated me....I'm gonna try it out
@Scott Buscemi
Can you explain why?
@Jim Helal
yes u better...for the people like u there should be some "un"social site.
@Scott Michael Harris
just dont forget to ask for all your money back!
@Adam Vise
Shush, Sushubh. Timeline is game changing.
@Isley Sokudo-ryoku Vtania
Tried it....Loved it....Keeping it....Indeed it's a game changer! Still <3 ing it
@Gamer Hiroshi
Sébastien Boutet Oh I have Spotify music. Just NOT IN FACEBOOK.
@George Adams
It's useless...it looks nice, but it's fkin useless. It was much cleaner and simpler before. This kind of thing should be done by 3rd party app, or at least should optional. And also, it will probably kill your browser.
@Eric Suchomski
its awesome, what are you smoking?
@Meghan Krane
Memolane is doing it right now http://memolane.com/
@James Mowery
Eric Suchomski: News items that provided the same information now take up two to three times more space and STILL provides the same information. I'd say that qualifies as useless change.
@Eric Suchomski
James Mowery I guess you have not used it yet. Going back in time and seeing things as they happened during a certain month of a past year is awesome
@Jono Coulter
Meghan Krane Memolane rocks thanks for that!
@James Mowery
Eric Suchomski I agree that seeing stuff in the past is really cool. Seriously. That isn't my argument. My argument is that the interface they provide you to accomplish that is downright horrible and inefficient.
@Eric Suchomski
James Mowery I like it. I think its good. Few bugs, but I like a number of things, including combining the few hundred bday wishes into one thread. showing who became your friend in what year. pages you liked in a timeframe. I think the new homepage is horrible, but the profile is awesome
@Chloe Rodriguez
Eric Suchomski He smokes privacy, I hope for god sake this is an op out thingy, bcoz I really don't want everyone I have added to know everything I have been doing or writing or sharing on a site, this is just stupid.
@Eric Suchomski
Everyone, have a great weekend!
@Kitty Love
Chloe Rodriguez You can control that in your privacy settings, hon.
@Nicholas Carlson
This is great. Thanks Greg
@Javier Alcivar
Totally work worldwide, though I regret enabling all that clutter the ability to scroll through months or years of a profile this quick is indeed an improvement from the simple wall. Checklist status updates are no longer simple text but checklist options to narrow targeted ads to you like: "You lost an important person" "You had a surgery" "Your pet is" "your room mate is" "Bought a new home" "Obtained a license" How about writing a about your dead cat and having an Ad about pet stores.
@Puneet Kumar
how to disable timeline??
@Peachanan Rojwongsuriya
Puneet Kumar I deleted the app created and my profile went back to normal..
@Jake Djsmook Smookler
Why is it asking for my credit card information
@Stan Olshefski
Jake Djsmook Smookler You either need to verify a phone number or verify a credit card to create an application.
@Regie Labajo
Puneet Kumar : Delete the application you've created
@Akshay Friendism Jain
Javier Alcivar Hello, I did this but forgot to press PUBLISH button. Now, Can anyone tell me what can I actually do?
@Majdi TounsiSoft
great ;)
@Nika Layson
Puneet Kumar delete the app :)
@Regie Labajo
Akshay Friendism Jain : try to check your profile first and if the timeline appears then you don't need to click the publish button..
@Sleepy Gamberro
YES CHARLES!
@Jordan Wright
Cheers :D
@David Shares
Today Facebook has become Myspace. Congrats! lol
@Alexander Burgos Collazo
Not
@Eduard Dobre
That was my exact reaction when I saw the pictures, too! Damn, this is ugly hell... I know it's wishful thinking but I hope we'll be able to deactivate this, otherwise, G+ will have all my devotion from now on...
@John Martins
Right, because rearranging content that was already there in order to make it simpler and easier to view = MySpace.
@Isley Sokudo-ryoku Vtania
Not!
@Lapo Raspanti
George Adams I'm using it on a crappy netbook and it works just fine.
@Chris Callo
I really do not think that is a valid argument. Myspace was filled with useless animated gif's and other random customization by the user. Facebook is simply implementing a cleaner way to organize the ever growing amount of features. Everything on the page is actually relevant to the account. Until I can start adding a flashing GIF that says "COOL" in flames, facebook=myspace is false.
@Jonha Revesencio
God, that's exactly what I thought when I saw it..the photos, the apps but who knows, things could only get better...unless they break it pretty fast - like they always do.
@Samarendar Biswal
who knows myspace would be different if Zuke was the CEO..
@George Adams
John Martins On what planet it's simpler and easier to view?
@Adam Cheeseman
this is awesome!
@Adam Cheeseman
this looks slick
@Jason Kolbenheyer
Anyone looking for this type of functionality as a third-party app, we've built an app for that: http://apps.facebook.com/hystories/ Crap timing, but so goes the game! FYI, it's pretty raw & polished at this stage.
@Ashish Gurung
sucks.
@Justin Lee Bauer
Worked for me, thanks guys.
@Michael Knight
This goes to show how TechCrunch likes to cause trouble. If your not a developer, then don't sign up to be a developer. There's a reason dev's get this. And that's because of our hard work to design great apps for Facebook. Your not being clever... And Facebook will cotton on to this.
@Kevin Kolb
Do you use the word 'you're' correctly in your apps? Cotton on dude.
@Paul Glasser
Wahh :(
@Will Hays
you have earned the right...the rest of the unwashed masses have been found wanting.
@Michael Knight
Kevin Kolb Do I tell you how to write?
@Sergio De Gregorio
Michael, if someone develops apps for Facebook and allows non intended others (non developers) to use its features it means it is not a well developed app..
@Kevin Kolb
You don't have to.
@Michael Knight
Kevin Kolb Good, because sometimes, being Dyslexic sucks!
@Michael Knight
Sergio De Gregorio That wasn't my point. And in this case its beta testing.
@Martyn Jackson
Screw that I'm trying it out.
@Robert Varipapa
For better or worse, only other 'developers' can see your timeline!
@Wallace Patterson
Ha! Cool.
@Çelik Nimani
Interesting but eventually Facebook will find out about this walk-around and shut it down.
@Pritam Pebam
I guess, for some reason they left it open.. you know it's always good when people create a hype through such things..
@Alexander Graham
Don't appreciate the word "creepy" used to describe this feature. You make something better, with your superior design and function skills. Stop using words like creepy for "enjoyment" factor, ratings, and making your article seem superior and ominous.
@Vince PeGan
I like it, totally new experience. Seeing how many friends you gained over a certain timespan is a very cool concept. My photos are no longer just photos of me, they are photos of me attached to the event and all the emotions that go with that.
@Liam Daly
Thanks, if we remove the app will it go back to normal?
@Wayne Helpard
Already a developer, but it didn't work for me.
@Erin Mysticalcock-Monster
Didn't work for me either lol
@Pritam Pebam
Did you try creating a new app?? I tried editing my old one.. didn't work...created a new one, it worked!
@Erin Mysticalcock-Monster
Tam Pebam yup. I did it twice, each time creating a new app. I just suck haha
@Rehuël Lobato de Mesquita
Tam Pebam I edited an old app and it did work...
@Hassan Javeed
works
@Wayne Helpard
I got it to work now, just had to update my app to have a namespace.
@Rafal Koszela
Don't work for me to.. maybe i to old developer ;)
@Pritam Pebam
hmm.. probably it's some programmatic random chance!
@Erin Mysticalcock-Monster
haha I think I did it wrong. It didn't work for me. :(
@David Meyer
OMG...this really does rock! Thanks for posting this. Thoroughly loving the new timeline!
@Claire Chung
i uploaded it and now my friends cant access my FB page! how to unistall it now? did anyone else find bugs in this instructions? thanks!
@Abhishek Sharma
Claire Chung delete the app.. ur profile would go back to normal.. :)
@Claire Chung
thanks but where do I go to delete it from? On the APPLication I only see edit and create new application. thansk!
@Gabriel Ocegueda
Claire Chung Click on Edit App and on the left hand side you will find the Delete App button
@Dena Coe
Claire Chung privacy settings, remove web and apps area, turn off platforms, click on link for DEV, remove app, and that should remove it.
@Francis Gripal
Claire Chung in the developers page, go to settings... you could find at left side "delete this app"
@Yasmine Shikybona
Abhishek Sharma how can i do that plz
@Catherine Noserale Gobres
Yasmine Shikybona type developer at search engine again, click the app developer, same as you click before, then the page you've created in that application will appear, somewhere in the left side toolbar, you will see the "delete app" click it and your page will back to normal.. hope it helps..=)
@Yasmine Shikybona
Catherine Noserale Gobres =D I WILL TRY THAT NOW
@Safeer E Hussain
Claire Chung I cant activate the developer mode. There is no such option there!
@Michael G. Curry
requires a PW.
@Anthony Domanico
it's your FB password.
@Paolo Bergamaschi III
funziona!
@Paolo Bergamaschi III
molto macchinoso..
@Barclay Brantingham
Worked! Makes me want to build a Facebook App!
@Nick Taddei
desperate times call desperate measures.......by desperate men!
@Jon Cassidy
I like it! although it might make my life look boring! :)
@Puneet Kumar
how to disable timeline...I want to return to old view..!!!
@Mireya Viridiana Olivares
Puneet Kumar : Delete app by going into the developer app and editing the "app" you made, it will give the option to delete it on the left side
@David Bannister
cortezandre22530287 shut up and stop dirty businesses...dont u get it we are talking about Facebook Timeline. How ignorant can one be
@Michael Lombardi
During the developer release, only other developers will be able to see your new timeline. Everyone else will see your old profile.
@Terence Towles Canote
This is not a good idea. In fact, I hope that Facebook will give us way to disable the timeline when they implement it. Honestly, I prefer the profiles the way they are. Or more accurately, the way they were two years ago!
@Gamer Hiroshi
I miss my old bbs too...
@Terence Towles Canote
Gamer Hiroshi Really, an old bbs would be better than the new Facebook. LOL.
@Greg Smith
Like it a lot. Thanks Greg.
@Adam Manson
does anybody know if there's a way to deactivate the timeline, just in case I end up disliking it for some reaso or another?
@Fabio Rex
I switched to page and back to profile and it was gone.
@Adam Manson
Fabio Rex and what exactly does that mean?
@Dhruvkaran Mehta
Did facebook's developer count just blow up?
@Josh Luth
Sometimes I wonder if those complaining are really just haters for the sake of hating. I, for one, like the new change to the timeline. It tells you more about your friends than the wall ever hoped to.
@Clare Cosgrove
Josh I am certainly not a hater for the sake of hating but I am concerned with the quick acceptance that some people seem to have with the obvious manipulation from Facebook of it's users and the massive privacy breaches as if it is unimportant it really IS important and it is something that NEEDS to be taken seriously!! I love being on Facebook and I have found long lost friends and and and...but the agreement I made with Facebook originally has been changed beyond all recognition and I don't like it and I don't like not be able to choose.It should be opt in policy not opt out and we should be allowed to know what information is being made public and what is being sold to whom and in what form.
@Bryan Hussey
Clare Cosgrove you do have the ability to choose who sees what and facebook does tell you where your information is being sent. all you have to do is look a little bit deeper than the boldfaced headlines, and you will find it is very easy for you to control who sees/receives what.
@Karl O' Brien
Can someone help me, it says "The specified action type is invalid because you need to supply at least one connected object. Please add at least one connected object before proceeding."
@Brett Radler
CC or telephone# i think
@Austin Pickett
Reason why I won't do this: - I don't want to verify my facebook by phone number or credit card...
@Jonha Revesencio
Credit Card - not a good sign.
@Melissa Saint-Hilaire
Once you've verified by phone number, you can go back and remove the number. I verified awhile ago to actually develop an app, deleted my number, and was still able to go through all these steps. Just an fyi. :)
@Domi Rickard
Someone hacked my stepmum's facebook last week and cleared her credit card.... just saying.
@Domi Rickard
**By cleared, I mean stole all her money.
@Alejandro Guidotti
Melissa Saint-Hilaire The point is that you phone numbre is not totally deleted.
@Melissa Saint-Hilaire
Alejandro Guidotti If it's not totally deleted then where is it located and how is it used? I can't see my phone number anywhere on my profile, nor do I receive any text messages or phonecalls from Facebook. So, where, pray tell, is it if it's not deleted? I'm sincerely asking and curious.
@Jonathan Dennis
Domi Rickard I highlydDoubt it happened because of that
@Richard Weintraub
Melissa Saint-Hilaire Yeah sure, they just hide the number, it's still on their server, you can read more about it on this website: http://www.europe-v-facebook.org/ By the way... the variable for username is called target... interesting, heh?
@Melissa Saint-Hilaire
Richard Weintraub Interesting... and eeevvvil. ;-)
@Isley Sokudo-ryoku Vtania
Domi Rickard What service or App did she subscribe to? Did you ask her dat?
@Marc Chambers
This isn't a hack or a workaround -- it's Facebook wanting developers to get a bunch of Timeline-aware apps ready to go before they launch Timeline to the public. And it'll work.
@Craig Cockburn
I miss the days of "looking for: random play". :-)
@Gamer Hiroshi
Is that why your name is "Cockburn"? ba-da-bum!
@Craig Cockburn
After a few decades of mispronunciations and childish humour, I would rate your play on the name as about as funny as having fingernails pulled out with pliers. BTW, it's "coburn".
@Rascal Radix
It's definitely spelled Cockburn though...
@Ryan Glasgow
Gamer Hiroshi The roast was on Monday buddy
@Chloe Rodriguez
Gaymer Hiroshi (that´s how it´s read), funny enough?
@Steven Nereo
"BTW, it's "coburn". " I'm dying over here... haha.
@Killator Corpse Circus
Craig Cockburn it says COCK-BURN learn english
@Killator Corpse Circus
seriously.. a silent C & a silent K? i don't buy the SILENT C theory sir even if the K is silent.. still says COCKBURN
@Craig Cockburn
Killator Corpse Circus English isnt a fonetic langwage as yoo can see. So not all words are ritten the way they are prounouncd, cockburn "coburn" is wun such word. enuf?
@Killator Corpse Circus
speak english
@Richard Corlett
excellent, thanks!
@Bhushan Khaladkar
Works Great!
@Pete Vlastelica
Nice work, Cuz.
@David Cackette
Werd, works for me!
@Jason Williams
I set this up and have not received the invite to try timeline, any help?
@Derick Rhodes
Thanks...enjoying playing with it. We're going to add Facebook integration to Listgeeks (http://listgeeks.com) soon anyway (we've heard Facebook is starting to get popular), so I needed to get signed up.
@Yong Park
Holy crap this is confusing.
@Danielle Ross
Can you still hide your friends with the new timeline?
@Matthew Antwi
Thanks TechCrunch
@Julien Guiss
It's works !
@Kate Hough
Thanks for this! Love it!
@Xavier Schreder
Thanks Greg :)
@Anthony Francis
Awesomenesss, works like magic, in loooove...Yep!
@Stuart Chestnut
Worked, easy to follow, wow timeline looks good, thanks.
@Johnny Walls
I just added Open Graph to one of my existing (but not published apps) and I got in to the new Profile option.
@Samse Christian
It worked for me. I think it's genius. Pipe down with the negativity folks. Facebook aren't generating any new content here, they're just optimizing the idle content that we had posted, and then very quickly forgotten about. That content now has genuine personal storytelling value... Props to FB, and props to TechCrunch for getting us in there.
@Kalayaan Cantos
how did you make it visible to public too? apparently, even if i change the setting to public, doesn't work. thanks.
@Brian Adam Hollingsworth
Kalayaan Cantos Currently it is only viewable by other developers.
@Kalayaan Cantos
Brian Hollingsworth i see. thanks.
@Michael Cohen
You can think about Timeline as basically being a smarter view for the existing wall/profile--giving a much slicker UI and the "seek" functionality.
@Samse Christian
Lots of "likes" on this post. After a few days of useage I'm getting a bit frustrated with one aspect in particular: the Spotify hookup. My newsfeed is being drowned by "..... is listening to.....on Spotify." This is content overkill, needs looking at. Shameless self-promotion here, but take a look at evertale.com We're looking for alpha testers and feedback from first follower types. Get in touch on Evertale facebook if you're interested.
@Thomas Oppong
great hack, I love it.
@Matthew Geyster
Awesome! Thanks guys.
@Dan Richey
Very very interesting. Both how to enable it right this second as well as how to use the develop action within Facebook. I think I am going to love playing with this. :)
@Alison B. Lowndes
IN & loving it.....
@Jonna van Kampen
Curious to see what will happen to pages...
@Richard Teng
Tried verifying through mobile, but still get the "must verify" notification :( I sure as hell don't want to verify by cc.
@Phillip Tran
I got it started did you?
@Nick Sandiloh
Superb! I <3 It.
@Manish Parekh
Just tried it. Must say that Timeline is extremely well designed and great to look. It is Beautiful!
@Drew Izzo
Thanks! Wicked cool
@Allen John
Facebook is trying it's best to curb the inflow of idiots, making it harder and harder to use the site. Next week new registration page and later you'll have to solve a differential equation successfully to create an account and expand a Fourier series before you can tag someone!
@Ruchika Bhartiya
How to change back to original?
@Aaron Parr
I tried this out and it is truly creepy and exceedingly interesting. I cant wait to share it with others as well as get the chance to surf through my friends time lines.
@Sri Mahesh
gr8 workaround!
@Luke Noffke
Awesome.
@Shawn Munkvold
This is probably the worst thing Facebook has ever made. It looks Horrible.
@Matt DePersis
Totally works. Thank you!
@Fra Pham
When Facebbok will be renamed Skynet? lol ;)
@Jonathan Sackheim
Reposted. I'd be interested to see the web traffic on this post. Popular I'm sure.
@Abishai Gray
git it!
@Valerie Soraci
cool
@Sony Parankimamvilayil Raju

@Eli Kudjie
Ok this works for me. I just got the new profile activated...I've to admit, it's pretty cool at first sight...Thanks Greg for the tip :)
@Kyle Piklor
how do you disable it now? lmao
@Donna Mattison
delete the app :)
@Kyle Piklor
Thank you donna. Well hopefully this will be optional, i dont want that Myspace-ish layout.
@Donna Mattison
its not going to be optional, this is something they'll be rolling out to everyone in the coming months. You may want to get ready to deal with it ;)
@Kyle Piklor
Donna Mattison good thing i have Google+ and Twitter.
@Marcel Behar
It WORKS!
@Jonha Revesencio
You’ll need to have a “verified” account for one of the steps, which means you need a CREDIT CARD or phone number attached to the account. - Not a good sign.
@Harvey O. Villena
teach me how to enable the timeline
@Harvey O. Villena
yahoo. Timeline now enable
@Nate Lacson
I could teach you how to dougie.
@Dan Richardson
...no you don't?
@Brenwood Parrish
@ Harvey O. Villena - use the ensample they provide in article! Have blessed day!
@Xris Thurman
don't go messin with my dougie
@Ryan Kartzke
The new timeline looks sick! FB did a really good job with it... scrap booking 2.0. I "published" the timeline so it's public, but none of my friends can see it yet, maybe it'll sync in the next few days. Make sure to update privacy settings too, or else the new timeline profile will create Stalkers 2.0...
@Dobránszky Zoltán
Done! First in Hungary! :D // I'm very pleased with this new timeline, much more clear and has more space for important happenings. And you can add any kind of events to the timeline like you got a new cat or overcome an illness etc. Interesting...
@Andreas Echohunter Benjaminsen
Thank you. Works great!
@Katrishia Ann Velez
This is freaking awesome... Thanks for the TIP!
@Ryan Christopher Etzel
did not work for me u LIERS......
@Tom BigLucky
Yeah, this method worked for me. But the whole interface is still buggy, and lacking in options. Things I've hidden don't stay hidden, etc. And is this really *replacing* the profile? That's not what I assumed from the video and blog posts. People are going to hate this, I think.
@Anurag Kalia
This happened to me too. Just hide stuff from activity page and everything will be okay. PS- The activity page is very cluttered... If you actually want to use it, try the filters. They are lifesavers!
@Rowan Villa
I did it in one computer at my job, but I'm trying at home and I don't recive any invitation :( any help?
@Sunjo Désign
Love it! Thank you Greg :)
@M Yavuz Atila
Voouv, it is great.! Thanks..
@Brittany Mulch
All fine and dandy.... does anyone know how to set the MAP privacy? THE PUBLIC can see everywhere I have been... everything else is pretty locked up!
@David Knowles
What a messed.
@Rudy Macias
Thanks!
@Emre Åženol
It's amazing. Thanks :)
@Bishwajeet Mahato
Working like charm, now lots of people will start using Developers, which won't be good for FB.
@Erica Simms
wth do I have to give my # are cc # NOOOOOOOOOT.
@Jimmy Tomlinson
That was awesome..Thanks a lot :)= Can't wait for everyone else to See! Rock On
@Kirsty 'Crumpet' Forrester
the? sk=timeline thing didn't work for me :( (i saw this article after I had already logged in on another machine).
@Louis Dershowitz
it worked
@LaSandra Brill
Thank you for the step-by-step instructions - it worked for me! =)
@Ram P Singh
Absolutely love the Facebook timeline.. It has a Flipboard'ish feel to it.. Really well done. The scrolling is a bit slow and jerky but overall looks like a winner..
@Shiv Shetty
Hey Greg thanks, Facebook trying it's best to amuse people! I think it works.
@Bethany Liz Carter
Hmmm, I did this, I got the invite..but when I tried to accept it, it crashed Chrome and now I can't get it back!
@Ashleigh Erin Kelley
Chrome has been crashing on me a lot lately... Lame.
@Roman Tarnavski
Thank you. I really like the new look. MySpace or not; I honestly believe Facebook has done it right. They limit the design, and provide freedom through applications and your interactions; not through drop-in javascriptlets and audible annoyances.
@ALi BaBa RKr
http://blazomania.com/2011/09/22/how-to-install-timeline-in-your-facebook-profile-tutorial/
@Millie Thakker
How do I get rid of it, I hate it :S.
@Millie Thakker
just delete the app to get rid of it
@Jason Parent
Horrible. This is as bad, if not worse, than when MySpace *changed* their layout/profile designs. Nothing but fail written all over it.
@Michelle Rocha
works like a charm.
@Lynette Pirong-Hayford
ok question.. I did this, and I can see it when go to my profile, but my profile does not look different to other people, and I did hit publish.. suggestions? ideas?
@Georgios V. Efstratiadis
Facebook just changed the way people connect online.. but for real this time.. did anyone watched the FULL keynote?
@Deepak Agastya
does not look very clean..looks like a page full of widgets..it probably takes work to make it look nice for everyone by default..
@Surazeus Simon Seamount
I updated my profile to the TimeLine. I love its autobiographical "Song of Myself" design.
@Hrishikesh Kumar
The first change in facebook I am happy to get. :P
@Mh Borna Ph
That was amazing, but there is a question here: how can we disable it and switch to older version again?
@Hassan Javeed
awesome, thanks
@Tracey Walker
Worked like a charm! Thanks!
@Tracey Walker
My new timeline (wall) looks phenomenal! But you have to be a developer using the developer app to see it FOR NOW!
@Richard Thomson
I really like the new time line profile for facebook.
@Adam Vigneaux
My friend can't see it. Is it supposed to be public? Or is it just for me?
@George Deglin
Easier way -- Ask to join this group. When you get added you will automatically get the new profile timeline: https://www.facebook.com/groups/199800203422846/.
@Matt Lawson
Thanks! I added timeline and it is sincerely very cool :-)
@Elkin Rusinque
It works! Thanks! I like it!
@Këlly Ryder
Thank you! Now that I have Timeline enabled I was able to look at my first ever Facebook status. Of course, it was at the time when status updates were "Kelly Ryder is..." so my first update is simply "amazing." How disappointing...
@Jegger Bayog
Hi question..so you have new applications facebook timeline now.. all your photo albums on your previous facebook still included on the new applications?? thanks!
@Këlly Ryder
Jegger Bayog Yessir! All of my photo albums are still intact as they were before the profile facelift.
@Stephanie Noel Bernstein
Can you view all of your status updates from when you first signed up for Facebook?? And does Facebook automatically go back in to everything you've done on Facebook and put it in to your timeline for you?? I'm very curious about this!
@Hari B Kurup
It is not working for me. Can you please add me as a tester for the app you've created?
@'Joel Adam Ortilla Full
Another feature to confuse everybody, at least Facebook is evolving. =)
@Matt Labour
That worked! It's exploring time now :) thanks for this!
@Matt Labour
Stunning. Timeline looks amazing, it's super fast and there's nothing to learn. It's just there and it feels right. To me, at least!
@Justin Dorfman
Perfect, thanks!
@Ed Butler
developer app now asking for a password..
@Annette Butler Robbs
So what do you think of this? Are you going to do it or just let it go auto?
@James Hall
Good stuff - worked for me, thanks!
@Zak Kinion
"Oops Something went wrong. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can.... "
@Zak Kinion
I get this on the Get Started part of the open graph section. I guess it is broken for now.
@Alison Collins
I like this...thanks!
@Robert Esparza
Thanks!
@Golda Criddle
Wow, this new timeline is perfect for integrating old pictures in. Check this out: http://blog.gophoto.com/2011/09/22/facebook-timeline/.
@Lorie McDonald Tuma
Love this!
@Jeff W. Butts
Great feature. Still working, but wondering how long before Facebook slows down the invitations. I love the new layout, especially the cover photo.
@STfi CoNz
Thanks :)
@Marna Neece Loftis
Thanks Greg! I didn't think that I would like this new Timeline update but I do really like it!
@Justin Alexander
Interesting. Ugly, but interesting.
@Melissa Saint-Hilaire
Worked well and quickly. Thanks for the tip! (Note for developers: I was already a developer, so I just skipped to the create a new app bit and it worked like a charm.) :)
@Kendra Whispell
Is it still working?
@Jonathan Sheppard
ive done it differently...how I have`nt a clue but you know what I "LIKE" it... thanks by the way because I think I used about 50% of your method.
@Terry Skene
"Please enter your password to continue. The page you are trying to visit requires that you re-enter your password.".... uh, no thanks...
@Jonathan Sheppard
oh and I didn't need authentication, just used an old app.
@Matthew Chase Ruffino
Worked for me! Just made a custom cover in photoshop. :p
@Matt Lamb
I wish my life felt that organized and accessible in reality. I discovered stuff on me I didn't even know about. A Private Detectives wet dream, I mean if there was any reason to pry... not that there is. I'm just sayin, it's a bit CSI like seein your life so nicely profiled.
@Armando Grati
Ok thanks... everythings works! but now... how can I deactivate my Timeline? ;-)
@Katelyn Friedson
awesome, thank you. I'm Pretty sure the Swedish designer and founding member of Spotify UK, who FB hired back in 2010 is responsible for a majority of Timeline's design.
@Bahadir Cambel
Rasmus Andersson
@Andrea Raquel
Cool, I was just wishing for something like this. Nice to try it out early.
@Tony Ditri
Facebook as a timeline? Are people on FB that many hours a day? I cannot believe that people have nothing else better to do with their time, then to sit on Facebook watching a timeline. How pathetic is that?
@Shankar Sripadham
Nice!
@Marna Neece Loftis
Why can't ANY of my friends can see my profile as they are supposed to now? WTH?
@Surazeus Simon Seamount
They won't see your new profile until they activate their new profile.
@Allison Lopez
Just tried it, and it still works. Thanks!
@Åžafak Otur
Awesome :)
@Opal Hornsby
They might've stopped this...didn't work for me...
@Mouhamed Sourang
Thanks Worked for me.
@Heon Jun Park
It worked Awesome and creepy.
@Annice Laws
FB didn't ask for either my phone or credit card # for verification - it just gave me a CAPTCHA.
@Thomas Dre Robert
awesome, a second myspace.
@Matias Caceres
Works like a charm. Visit our technology website if you're interested: http://www.tecno-byte.net . We are Tecno-Byte.
@Jason Williams
I have tried many times and it has not popped up and given me the option to use timeline after making an app. What am I doing wrong?

@Mark Stuntz Bailey

@'Mayan Shrivastava'
u rock man...... thanks
@Sindhu Sivakumar
Super cool Dude.. Thank ya
@Jackie Aiken
a creepy timeline? hahaha! FB will have to come up with something far better to get my phone number and/or credit card. as in....never! ;)
@Michael Cohen
Just to be clear, @[20531316728:274:Facebook] is not asking for you to do any of this. This is more of a hackish workaround to convince Facebook you are a developer--and it makes some sense to want application developers to be trackable.
@Jackie Aiken
Michael Cohen I understand the post. That's not the point. Whether you are a developer or not (perhaps I am a developer...still...it doesn't matter).....it's just ANOTHER way for FB to try to gain access to my personal info -- ain't gonna happen. btw.....they do it every single day. Because I never gave them my personal info (and NEVER will...ha!)....every time I log on, a full-page solicitation comes up asking for my phone number or other identifying info (driver's license, credit card, etc.) to make my account more "secure"....ahahahaha!!!! If you have already given them your own info, you don't see it, so perhaps don't know this takes place. It's a daily quest by them to gain access to my personal info. again...will never happen! ;)
@Jackie Aiken
and ps.....there is no reason just for logging on...for them to want my info. sure, for advertising purposes, it makes 'sense' to want regular folks using fb to be "trackable", too. anyone can say anything 'makes sense' for their own gain. But this isn't communist cuba....soooooo it makes sense for me to keep my info free and private! :)
@Jennifer Savage
Gah. You have to add either a mobile phone number or a credit card to your account to "verify" it in order to create an account. As if I didn't already give facebook enough of my info.
@Youngjin Mo
Thx! Now I can experience new Facebook!
@Rob Small
Legit. Timeline has changed everything.
@Brett Colbert
It worked! Cool.
@Travis Lusk
I love all the people that say this will cause them to drop their Facebook account. Ridiculous for multiple reasons. But the most ironic is that they had to use their Facebook account in order to login here and post their silly comment.
@Roberto Becher
this is great!
@Biju C Nair
Wow
@Joe Dawson
John Connor's timeline should be interesting..
@Tufail Shahzad
Anyone suffering from a bug, asking for Mobile Phone confirmation, even my mobile phone is already confirmed.
@Manvendra Verma
Iam just worried, if our partners will be more interested in this "History"? dunno man, one part feel gud to see all stuff together, but at d same time, dun want people to peek in:/
@Rachelle Gesmundo
But what if I don't want my new friends to check out my oldest post from way back 2008? Do I get privacy on not showing it? that's totally fucked up!
@Kressentia Lisa Maria
I AM LOVING TIMELINE!
@Daniel Sosa
what is a namespace?
@Gopal Kamat
Thanks --- looking forward to setting this up.
@Jeffrey Davis
This worked for me. I think the timeline is great. Except mine, like most people's, is pretty boring.
@Anand Choudhary
Thanks :)
@Mike Allton
Worked great! Thanks for the instructions.
@Harsha Siriwardena
thanks it works! xD
@Sardar Mohkim Khan
Thanks Greg for sharing this, just a bit annoyed as to why it would auto disable the instant I log on to another computer -
@Dannii Cardona
como le cambio de color a mi nuevo perfil?
@Amanda Jeffs

@Amanda Jeffs
Woohoo! My timeline (Beta version) is now live thanks to a hack at @[8062627951:274:TechCrunch]... and it's awesome !!!!
@Warmhouse Cm
Nice new feature timeline and I must learn more. Thank you :P
@Mark Stevens
Want to know who's unfriended you over the years? Scroll back to find the clusters of new friends you've added and click on the "made 75 (or whatever) new friends" link, scroll through the resulting pop-up list and you'll see a friend request button next to those who are no longer your friend.
@Mickey Limon
thank you! worked perfectly and I'm loving fb timeline! :D yebaaa
@Victoria Cook
wow. this looks awesome, thanks for the tip!
@Jake Djsmook Smookler
Why the hell is this thing asking for my credit card information? Something is not right about this.
@Ved Singh
This worked. Thanks
@Amit Chhajer

@Dileep Dil

Why in the hell do I have to enter a credit card or my phone number? FTS...
@Julien Hart
thank you!
@Julien Hart
it works!
@Yousuf Ali
HA! Past tense of read is spelt "read" not redd although it is pronounced like that!
@Tessa Sullivan
duh?
@John Putman
I was able to add friends as 'testers' and they were able to get their timelines up and running without having to sign up as a developer ;) Worked so far for at least a handful of them that have tried so far...
@John Putman
For some reason, this only worked for some of the 'testers' in the group I created...
@Nicolò Paternoster
how many people tried to type insert the verb f**k? is blocked already :D
@Kate Gallagher
I'm already on the developer platform, but I log in on too many machines to make it worth it. It seems they rolled it out to the influencers first aka the bamfs with the most followers and then some minor ones to make it seem like that's not what they did.
@Robert Norris Hills
Ok, so I'm checking out this timeline thing.....It's a horrible idea. Straight up. Not a fan. It would be nice as a secondary view of your profile....but as a primary view. YUCK! People are going to skitz out.
@Yogesh Gautam
Looking great....i like it.
@Ivan Diaz
Why don't celebrities or Christiano Ronaldo ever comment...
@Avnish Jain
Thanks :) Love you! :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
@Achin Sharma
I love you greg!
@Faisal Ijaz
Perfect.. thank you it worked..
@Jen Au
Oh! Hi Greg. I have a picture of you eating chicken.
@Kevin Heylen
Thank you!
@Scotty Fergulator
Samse Christian, no one cares what's worked for you, get a life, we want choices as to whether we want it, we don't want it forced on us.
@Christopher Andreas Martinez
Scotty Fergulator, no one cares that you want Samse Christian to get a life. We don't want your opinions forced on us.
@Alex Borovik
Christopher Andreas Martinez , opinions are not forced by definition... They are offered, and one is completely free what to do with them.. Unlike with certain facebook features which are not optional..
@Nate Lacson
Alex Borovik, no one cares what opinions are by definition. we don't want your definition forced on us.
@Dan Richardson
Nate Lacson, no one cares what witty jokes you have, we don't want you light hearted humour forced on us
@Alex Borovik
Nate Lacson , :-) very funny :-) well, finally we reached something which is not personal. If I say that "oak is a tree by definition", would you say I am forcing it on you? Lol. Plus, this is also about freedom of speech and freedom of responding to speech:-) so I guess we are all even here. as long as we don't insult each other :-)
@Satyam Patel
Superbbbb
@Alshe Dupur
Already Developer & Its work for me :) Great! Just need to create a new apps :P
@Ulrich Gero
Mine don't work.
@Christopher Andreas Martinez

@Gianluca Palladini
Same to me...
@Hari B Kurup
Gianluca Palladini How did you get it? Please let me know. :)
@Fabricio Almeida
Hari B Kurup Go to your profile page,right click, edit site preferences, network , browse indentification, just put to see or mask as Firefox!
@Hari B Kurup
Fabricio Almeida Clicked on get timeline in the about page of facebook and it worked for me. :)
@Alex Show
ĞžÑ…ÑƒĞµĞ½Ğ½Ğ¾, чё!
@Peter Strömberg
I don't think it's necessary to do the full Open Graph dance. Just create a regular app and the Timeline will be activated.
@CristLord Fran
wow this is nice...
@Anees Madathil
And then you were at the peak of your excitement, it said "Please note: During the developer release, only other developers will be able to see your new timeline. Everyone else will see your old profile."
@Nowitzski Shawn
no other words can say! I LOVE IT! ^_^
@Lia De Flandre
Thanks very much this is amazing :D
@Jochen Heym
So all friends can now see my old posts even if I do not want them? How can I stop this?
@Jen Almeda
its not nice,.. you don't have to change all the settings in fb,.. this is enough,. why do u need to change all the preference in fb?
@Mehmet Karaağaç
yes , it works ;
@Moe James
Dude, thanks for the hookup! Here is one back, right at you! Sit down, before you see this! Please don't share, only with fellow Tech- crunchers...If anyone. :) http://dld.bz/fbsecrets
@Serene Santiago
I tried doing the steps several times but howcome I still don't see the invite on my Homepage? somebody help please!
@Fabrizio Pregadio
I activated the Timeline, and my own posts have disappeared from my Home page. Now they are visible only in the Timeline. So you can't see people's comments on what you post unless you check the Timeline.
@Abi D-team
Thanks
@Daniel Westergren
If I upload old photos to the timeline (and set an old date), is there a way to avoid having them appear in the newsfeed? Could be confusing as they are not new photos, but old, only that they are uploaded now. I already got comments on old photos as if they were new.
@Krishnav Deka
it actually worked.... thanks... a lot.... feels great to be one of the firsts to us it...
@Mario Laugks
It didn`t work for me! I just get the new layout.
@Cesc Chan
Can not verify my mobile and the pop-out says I'm already verified!
@Cesc Chan
I removed my mobile, then added it again and now I'm enjoying the TL :D
@The new Timeline sucks.
This update is great for people who want to expose their life to everyone. There are still people in this world who like to keep things more hidden. I don't want someone to go so easily check what. I did and said, or what someone said to me, many years ago. The privacy settings are shit.
@Erik Persson
I published my app and now it doesn't appear in my apps list. Is there some way to unpublish it and/or delete it, in order to restore the normal profile page?
@Erik Persson
Nevermind, I figured it out. If anyone else is having the same dilemma, the way to go about it is to access your Account Settings (upper right), go to Security (upper left) and click Deactivate your account (blue link). This will take you to a confirmation page. At the bottom of the page, you'll see a list of applications of which you are the sole developer. One of those applications should be the one you just created. Click edit next to that application. Once into edit mode, on the bottom left, click Delete App. Arrow back to the deactivation confirmation page. Instead of confirming, click cancel, as you don't truly wish to deactivate your account. Return to your profile page and you should be back to the default (non-timeline) appearance.
@Carla Ladores
doesn't work for me. I don't know what to type in the box of create new app. Help. :/
@Alexandra Haret
it worked, thanks for the tip :)
@Julien Condamines
Great tips, it worked. Thanks!
@Merten Peetz
Please note: During the developer release, only other developers will be able to see your new timeline. Everyone else will see your old profile.
@Prachi Desai
I seriously feel this will be a totally new experience for users of Facebook. An Experience which will be more on emotional side, briefing friends and people around you "This is my life story". New social apps will allow us to do things what we could not do earlier. Listen to music, watch movies, read news and lot more at one place only and that too a social platform. Great way of sharing just begun.
@Brian Shearon
Gotta love people hating on the new features - without having used them! And google +? Please, give me a break. Google is nothing more than creepy, aging hipster trying to keep up with the cool kids.
@Akzey Jerk'
Simply awesome! It worked so well for me. :) And I think it's going to take me a while to get used to this new layout. For now I kind of like it.
@Gary Clarke
Thanks for the tip and very cool. Everything is working.
@Ryan Martis
thanks a million. worked like a charm. :)
@Rakib Rahman

@Cap Inbox

@Arnie Jones
lmao, the amount of people complaining about a free service that you don't have to use....if you don't like it don't be on FB fuck off to google+ or and of the other social pages....oh yes you wont because everyone and everything is on FB you muppets... God get a fucking life you sad fucks.
@Abi Roper
'God get a fucking life you sad fucks.' - That's a little extreme. Of course you can complain about a free service. And although they don't charge to use it, it's not a free service, because they make money off us, by selling us advertising. We're not the customer we're the product being sold.
@Arnie Jones
Abi Roper you are mental you dont have to be on this site its that simple if you dont like it them fucking leave its pretty simple really. If anyone has a better social site that is this popular then please release it and make some money off it. Dont dont complain about some thing that is free to use.....IFYOU DONT WANT TO BE SOLD GET THE FUCK OFF IT lol its not rocket science now is it people....
@Abi Roper
Arnie Jones Gosh, you're a very angry gentleman aren't you. May I suggest this as an appropriate substitute to Facebook for you: http://bit.ly/nFhoeJ I don't want to leave. I like facebook. But if you got given a free beer and it tasted awful, you'd be well within your rights to complain about it. I also don't appreciate being sworn at. Thanks.
@Arnie Jones
Abi Roper no i would complain as i have far better things to do with my life. Oh and if you dont like the language then dont comment. I hate people who complain....try it when you have cancer, heart problems etc not because your poor little fcebook page has changed jesus people....
@Abi Roper
Arnie Jones You're absolutely right. One should never complain when people are swearing at you - I'm being thoroughly unreasonable. And as a handy tip for your future life, do try not to get angry if you ever get ill, lose your job or break up with someone, because remember, there are people starving on the other side of the world... or alternatively you could remember that just because something is small in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't make it any the less important - and it would make the world a nice place to live in rather than swearing at people you don't know. Just a suggestion. Have a lovely weekend Arnie Jones.
@John S. Wilson
Abi Roper If you look at it that way, then TechCrunch is making money off of you, too. They've got ads on here.
@Christopher Andreas Martinez
Arnie Jones Dude, services - whether free or paid for - improve themselves largely by the complaints and suggestions of the consumers. Facebook is a society which we are all a part of, therefore we have the right to complain for what we believe will make it better.
@Nate Lacson
Abi Roper that's cause he mad bro
@Abi Roper
John S. Wilson They absolutely are, but I don't mind that they have to keep going somehow, they're a business after all, not our friend - All be it a very useful business who's services I enjoy using. I don't even mind Facebook making money off me, I mean that's what I've 'bought' into (so to speak)!
@Rahul K. Gupta
thanks...its working :D
@Philip Schweizer
It sounds like the Poken timeline....
@Edgar Almeida
I think you guys just made it go DOS lol. the app page doesn't load here...
@Ninoslav Mišković
Thx!
@Akshay Friendism Jain
Hello, I did this but forgot to press PUBLISH button. Now, Can anyone tell me what can I actually do?
@Taylor Wescoatt
wow thanks - totally sweet.
