Are Health Startups the Next Big Opportunity

Are Health Startups the Next Big Opportunity Are Health Startups the Next Big Opportunity? (TCTV) | TechCrunch

@George Daskalakis
I hate to be the jerk, but how did Tseitlin not get cast as Sean Parker in The Social Network? Sorry, couldn't resist.
@Hadi Partovi
In the US alone healthcare is a 2 trillion $ business (ie FAR larger than advertising). And healthcare is increasingly an information/technology science rather than an experimentation science. To me there's no question that the largest area of growth for software and technology is healthcare. The much harder question is who will be the winners and losers to invest in. (Open disclosure: I'm an investor in Practice Fusion, although that doesn't really bias me in any of this).
@Cameron Woodward
Get it. RockHealth is the bomb.
@Ryan FitzGerald
great to see TC continue to cover this space! Rock Health are Rock Stars.
@Marcelo Calbucci
Health Startups could be the next big thing if tech entrepreneurs are willing to leave the confines of their echo chambers and understand what's the true problem with the system and with individuals' health. Another Q&A site, or doctor review website won't really change the fundamental (broken) dynamics at play.
@Ben Tseitlin
agreed. what did you think of some of the startups that were mentioned? cake health in particular seems to be solving a real problem
@David Callahan
"... any parent anywhere can diagnose the child's ear infection from home using just this easy device that sits over their iPhone..." Yeah. When Hell freezes over... Now, for these airheads, anybody with an iPhone becomes a "doctor," instantly! This is one of the stupidest articles I ever read on TC/AOL! You know, I mean, you know, I mean, You know, I mean, ---so damn pathetic. "There is a huge opportunity here -- We just have absolutely no clue what it is..."
@Matt Lawson
We built pricecare.com (developers only, no stock). The owner (George) has multiple patents for this project. We are completing a complex development phase now that improves the search process and an analytics to show providers/hospitals detailed data about the people asking for prices on various treatments.
