Google Factory Tour of Search

Google Factory Tour of Search Circles Volume Slider Differentiates Google+ As The Social MacroNetwork | TechCrunch

@John Fernandez
what a joke. noone uses google+ because they don't want to hand over all their personal info to the largest online advertising company in the world (google employs more ad salesman than researchers).
@Vikash Kumar
Google may call it the volume slider, I'll use it as the 'Scoble Slider' :) This is a nice UX change.
@Edmund Rojas
lmao, poor robert lol
@Chuck Van Court
What criteria is used to determine what gets included when changing the volume?
@Nick Fleker Felker
My guess would be that more active posts (more comments and +1s) are favored.
@Zorlac Realm
This is a de-duplication noise control. It remove post that are already being shared or re-shared to you. You won't see those pesky cat gif thousand times in your streams.
@Mohamed M Jimale
This was all I was asking for months. Well played Google. Now I will make the complete switch.
@Zorlac Realm
Actually I am more fascinated with 8-Ball Pool from Google+ games. I could now play with random people using Google+. Now I'm just waiting for Chess and Go.
@Roeland P. Landegent
Volume bar: another nice integration of Google Music into Plus.
@Ryan Merket
Facebook had this in 2007: http://leeaase.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/story-types.jpg.
@Nick Fleker Felker
Do they have it now?
@Peter Pezaris
...and Multiply had it in 2004: http://techcrunch.com/2006/07/14/multiplycom-closes-first-funding-round/
@Nick ONeill
Exactly ... that's why I tweeted earlier today that it's crazy that Google has not learned from Facebook's previous attempts ... this won't work
@Nick Fleker Felker
Nick ONeill I agree that volume control for each circle does seem time consuming, it certainly seems better than Facebook's managing of each person separately.
@Ariel Castillo
Nick Fleker Felker It is actually stupid to be managing each circles with this. Just create 1 circle and call it hell or void or purgatory then set it to to off. The rest? Have them to max. This is the most simple feature for noise filtering I have seen around. What is next? Throw noisy people in it. Case closed. Nick ONeill sounds rather ignorant.
@Ryan Nelson
This is a mess. Facebook used to be a clean platform and now it's crowded applications and functions that take more time this year than last year. It took me 3 minutes to find the button to unfriend someone. This used to be so easy and effortless. I am not impressed with all of these new changes. I am a product of this Facebook era...an era that will soon reach descend. Any other social media platform will have to be cleaner and fully integrated. I think I'm going to put my developer's hat back on.
@Michael A. Robson
You don't even see applications, and if you see a notification from one, you can tell FB to never show you those again. FB is the best, and strikes the perfect balance.
@Nick Fleker Felker
A macronetwork sounds like the best way to go, especially with all of the integration among other Google services.
@Martin Crampton
Google is the search algorythmist. Fbook is the chatterplatz, Twitter is the local meeting bar.
@Michael A. Robson
Twitter is a marketing tool.
@Hanson Yuen
I only want 1 social network - Facebook, and that is a Facebook that covers all 4 of these features mentioned above. That's it! And don't use any social media management tools and whatnot.
@Durgesh Kaushik
Didn't Facebook already build this years ago? http://leeaase.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/story-types.jpg
@Abhijeet Kumar
I do not want a volume slider, I need something intelligent that learns itself. I like to find out who's interested in me (although not explicitly), that's what Facebook does remarkably well, I can always see who likes me and whom I like, based on who appears to me more often.
