Best VGM 137 - Plok - Beach

Best VGM 137 - Plok - Beach 2011 Gift Guide: Best Stuff For Luddites | TechCrunch
@Ezechel Trifan
Why don't I want anything on this list? I'm trying really hard, went through it a few times... This stuff is supposed to help "keep me connected to the past". So did I stray away too much into the future?
@John Biggs
probably. what would you add?
@Ezechel Trifan
What I would add? I don't know... I like the list, I think it's great, when I look at it friends come to mind that would really enjoy some of this stuff. But it doesn't speak to me. To be honest, you specifically made the list for friends of readers, not for readers. :-) For me maybe something like a Leatherman pocket multi-tool or an all-mechanical watch would be something to keep me grounded in the old school world.
@John Biggs
Ezechel Trifan I was going to include this http://www.wristwatchreview.com/2011/12/10/review-obris-morgan-flieger-mn-part-1/ - a $200 automatic (Chinese) chrono that actually looks cool - but I've done so much stuff on watches lately I figured I'd cover it later.
@Martin Cedes
Great! Loog guitars are an uruguayan idea! AWESOME!
@Todd Derscheid
As a big boardgame nerd, I'll heartily agree that Forbidden Island is a great value and a lot of fun. Comes in an awesome-looking tin, has nice thick hard to break components, gorgeous artwork, and a lot of gameplay in a small package. Passed the wife test (and the kids test, and the non-reading nephew test).
@Hillary Griffith
For just about any budget... with IPhone, IPad, or other Tablet... I chose www.wingstand.com.
