We Should Have Taken The iPhone More Seriously

I hope this is not a comment in 2014. "We should have taken Windows Phone more seriously".

He has smartly covered his backside by adding "that isn’t as good as the one that we currently use" :-).

I have had an iPhone for 3 years (3G and 4G), Android Galaxy and now onto the WP7 Samsung. If i had to choose i would want the WP7 first and easy second is iPhone and last is Android. Every single person i know that has owned and Android has returned them cause of crashes, no wifi, the list goes on and on. So i second Ravi! I saw an entire Exec board demand that the IT department replace all of their Android with iPhone's (pre-WP7 mango). Not one of them had a single good thing to say about them. The tides are changing not much will change with iPhones as they are a good solid product, WP7 Mango is so fast smooth stable and now has features to compete with both.

I've always been a bit of a Sony Ericsson fanboy, and I've been really happy to see that recently Sony Ericsson have become a really good citizen in the Android field - they support bootloader unlocking, and are helping out the CyanogenMod people with custom camera drivers and free hardware. They really seem to be shedding both the old Ericsson "Big Telco" and Sony "fuck you customers" attitudes.

Few of my friends who are mobile app developers told me that Android based applications come up with lot of bugs. Sometimes when the app name is entered in the "search" box, it gives more than 10000 results. Also, by the time an application is developed, at least 2 versions of Android would have been released. I am not familiar with mobile app. development but I guess Windows would offer better back-end integration than Android. Also, I can see Samsung distancing itself from Android due to Google buying Motorola. With very limited choice of an mobile OS, I can certainly see device makers becoming interested in Windows. Sony Ericsson maybe "very much" interested in Windows, but its part of the CEO's job to pretend that he "Maybe" interested in windows.

Given the sales figure of Samsung Galaxy SII, its unlikely that Samsung will depart Android anytime soon ... they have to sell devices, right?

Shim Vijay
Yes, Samsung will not depart from Android, but it is surely looking at other options which in due course of time will help it. Android, definitely after Google marrying with Motorola Mobility is not the preferred OS for Samsung.

Shim Vijay - Microsoft also married Nokia and that didn't change Samsung's mind. I don't see Samsung moving away from Android ...

This guy actually thinks he had a choice, this is a joke. WP7 would be a total loss for them cause of the XBox vs. Playstation and Apple doesn't sell OS's so what are you left with. I say Sony Ericsson is dead in the water in 1 and half years. bye bye... So the real question is who will buy them out before they are worth nothing?

Absolutely remarkable how blind these people are. Android is just a (more functional) knockoff of iOS. It's usually buggy and clunky to use no matter which device it's on. WP7 on the other hand is a real pleasure to use. The fight will inevitably come down to Apple vs Microsoft again.

right now its Google (Andriod) Vs others (WP7, symbion, RIM etc.)..i think microsoft has already lagged behind in this race !

Amit Midha LOTS of media, mobile device manufacturers, research companies and most importantly satisfied users would disagree with that statement.

Maybe Nordberg should become more forward looking and discuss with HTC..."We believe that Windows Phone 7 will eventually be better than other platforms and will give Android a run for its money" - Melvin Chua, Country manager of Singapore at HTC.

Android is very good - but Sony makes its look terrible. They have some of the worst and buggy android phones on the market.
