BSG’s Ron D. Moore Returns to Syfy

BSG’s Ron D. Moore Returns to Syfy

afrotype.
The man who gave us BSG will now do an outbreak/contagion 'thriller' series?! Just lost hope and interest...
jeayese.
Finally something good to replace the sad loss of Alphas.
philycheese.
Wish it was a new Stargate or space exploration themed show :(
scottjarvis123.
Alright! So we finally get to see Moore's take on The Thing on TV! I only wish this was on a paid network!
bluebox444.
An actual scripted sci-fi series on SyFy? Sounds wonderful. I hope it survives beyond one season.
Ravenherder.
Concept sounds just ....
mrs1nister.
Helix sounds kinda Threshold to me, but obviously without Peter Dinklage.
JizFunk.
I'll watch the frack outta that!
Oldschool_1987.
No C in Frak :)
JizFunk.
Frak off! :P
blueboxdoctor.
So another series that will either be cancelled (as is the usual for SyFy anymore) or another series that drags out and has an awful ending (i.e. BSG), this should be fun.
Muldfeld.
Wow. Another show Ron Moore isn't head writing. That should work out. Anyone remember "Caprica" or BSG Season 4. Without Ron Moore rewriting things and being heavily involved, there's no guarantee. Steve Maeda did decent work on "The X-Files", though.
RazorThought.
I'll definitely be watching this. After the epicness that was BSG, Ron D. Moore can do no wrong in my eyes. Will we see another BSG series this decade? A geek can dream.
Wucash421.
That sounds awfully like one X-Files episode from its first season. Then again Lost was basically "X-Files meets Island of island of moreau" P.S. Anyone who played Tomb Raider had a feeling of deja vu when playing it? It has Lost written all over it. Ugh everyone rips off everyone these days. Can I have more X-Files please?
ccanfield1.
Frak yeah ! I'm looking forward to checking this out.
benmaney1.
If Ronald D. Moore is involved... I'm watching.
zillajay23.
Sounds good but if it's RDM's show why is he not the Show runner?
shadow_918.
Awesome! I'm glad Moore is back to do another series on Syfy. I can't fraking wait.

Awesome News, So Say We All
Oldschool_1987.
So say we all!
gottennks.
how awesome was bsg
Oldschool_1987.
Not just saying this but it genuinely is my favourite program of all time, I'm kind of obsessed with it. Bought the complete Blu Ray set day of release as well. Just never expected a TV sci fi series to be so dark and so well written. And yes I have seen other program's like Homeland, Game of Thrones, 24, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Shield, Sopranos, The West Wing and I own them all yet I still think BSG tops them all lol.
He11aWicked.
All of BSG is awesome but I must say the first 3 episodes of season 3 are forever cemented in legendary status as far as television goes. SPOILER - *Galactica free falling on New Caprica, while fighter jets eject and at the last moment Adama ordering "Jump" right before the remaining human race dies a fiery death... that scene still gives me gosse bumps.
Oldschool_1987.
Agreed, that's actually called the "Adama Manoeuvre" named after the "Picard Manoeuvre" from TNG. Definitely was a defining moment for the series.
gottennks.
how awesome was the battlestar pegasus shame it was blow to hell
Oldschool_1987.
Yeah the Pegasus was brilliant and the rivalry between both Battlestarts was great TV but once Adama had control over two Battleships it made the fleets odds too great for me. I loved how the entire human race has to rely on a rusty old warship that was supposed to be decommissioned.
gottennks.
yeah though it was nice to see what a top of the line human battleship like the pegasus could do though but ya just couldn`t beat the ol reliable galatica
niven.
That shot right there always sticks in my mind, Bear McCreary's score for the entire series is sublime.
Iflobot.
I always tell people about that scene! One of the most amazing moments in TV drama history.
The_Daviest.
I agree with you sir. Whenever I try and convince someone to watch BSG, I tell them to watch the initial miniseries. If you're not hooked after that, you don't like great storytelling.
IriathZhul.
And then Hotdog: "This should be different." I think the show picked up an Emmy for that scene.
olorinincanus.
Wonderful taste in television, couldn't agree more with you! Personal favorites are The West Wing, Game of Thrones, and Battlestar Galactica.
Oldschool_1987.
Thank you! I shall follow you good sir and hopefully we shall become the best of friends! ...Please?!
gottennks.
haven`t seen the shield 24 or the sopranos but i have plans to see them eventually been to busy finishing bsg and working through fringe
Oldschool_1987.
Go with Shield next, first 3 seasons doesn't have much of a direction which isn't to say its bad but once its in its fourth season its pretty much non stop and the ending is brutally brilliant. Trust me, don't google anything about the Shield, you don't want anything ruined for you.
Rhys88.
The Wire all the way
Oldschool_1987.
It's in the top 5.
dcuofan99.
I just started the west wing i'm addicted gonna watch BSG after i finish TWW looking forward to it.
asataiyo.
Amazing show minus the series finale. I had hoped they would go a bit more into the beings of light sub-storyline before ending it.
The_Daviest.
I had my own theories towards the end. One thing I was sure of until almost the end was that the Lawyer, Lampkin was only visible to Apollo. Sort of A Beautiful Mind kinda thing. And if I remember correctly, the dude kept a cat, who died. I was sure it was starvation because Lee was feeding it and stopped. When their relationship petered out, I thought it was a change of direction in the script.
niven.
Don't worry, you're not alone.
hahajason.
rewatching it right now actually(FTL inspired). dat season 3 finale is epiiccc.
Thribs.
It was okay. It got better at the end with the mutiny.
Wucash421.
It got so boring and preachy I stopped watching it. Tbh before 3rd season I was pretty much skipping through the episodes. I guess it wasn't my cup of tea. Imagine my dismay when SyFy decided to BSG-up Stargate.... ugh, just ugh.
Oldschool_1987.
Fourth highest rated series of all time. Yeah, sounds awful.
THANA108.
My favorite episode was the season 3 finale, Crossroads Parts I & II. That's when they hear "All Along Watchtower" playing in Galactica. Love the series. I should buy this on Blu-Ray,
Hermitsage888.
I guess?
Thribs.
So say we all what?
Oldschool_1987.
A non fan! *Collective gasps and moans*
wisepossum1988.
You deserve a medal. LOVE BSG!!!!!
speedracer216.
I never watched. Assumed it was terrible. Isn't this based on that Travolta movie? Cuz he is brutal in just about everything.
Oldschool_1987.
God no! BSG is the 4th highest rated program of all time, right behind Breaking Bad, Sopranos and Thw Wire. Metacritic it and see
speedracer216.
HAHAHA I just realized that movie was called Battlefield Earth. All this time I avoided something I could have loved thinking it was connected to Travolta....
IriathZhul.
It's okay. I avoided it too because back when I bought "Galactic Battlegrounds", my relatives kept calling it "Battlestar Galactica" and I assumed it was stupid because it was old. Fortunately, a friend set me aright. Now go watch the show--it is PHENOMENAL.
Oldschool_1987.
Well I hope you give it a chance! You're welcome in advance lol.
Thribs.
Seriously?
Oldschool_1987.
Yep lol
DvBennett.
put em in the brig.
dopedemand.
Frakking awesome news.
vishalm.
Agreed...look forward to the Podcasts too. The BSG ones were the best.
shadowsfgm.
love ronald d moore, but i have no interest in another outbreak movie/series
Oldschool_1987.
Guarentee syfy will cancel it after one season. Lost all faith in that channel ever since they cancelled SG Universe, Caprica, the 3rd SG-1 movie and Atlantis movie. If it isn't overly muscly men in tight knickers then syfy will cancel it, frakkers.
dmonty20.
Geez can't imagine how you feel about ABC/NBC.
Oldschool_1987.
I'm still butthurt at Fox for cancelling Firefly and Dollhouse, which was just finding its feet. Can't remember what network Angel was but my butt aches all over from that one lmao.
Tsabrock.
As far as I understand it, the main people that were involved in the Firefly fiasco have long since left Fox. Although I miss Firefly, the current execs helped redeem Fox a little bit with Fringe recently - actually giving it the extra episodes for a proper finale. Right now it's NBC/SyFy that's the Evil Network in my book, with the death of the Stargate series. SGU was really just starting to get good.
witchblade12.
I was so mad when they announced they were ending SGU. And then the last episode made me even more furious because it was left on too big of a cliff hanger. We'll never know what happened on the other side or if Eli repaired the last cryo pod!
Oldschool_1987.
I'd like to think he did. It's a shame the entire Stargate franchise never got to wrap up its stories. SG1 did but Atlantis and Universe were just left hanging. Would have like to have seen one more SG1 movie with Richard Dean Anderson in a more prominent role.
witchblade12.
There was still so much more they could of done with SG1 or with more SG in general. There were a lot of things left during the SG1 series never fullfilled or answered. Never met the Furlings. Universe definatly could of gone on much longer, there were building up so much stuff for that series. But, alas, it was on the worst channel, Syfy.
Oldschool_1987.
I'm so happy Fringe got an ending and a great ending at that! Already pre ordered the Blu Ray set. As you can tell I'm a huge TV geek. I think TV is better than movies now.
witchblade12.
Don't forget them cancelling the Sarah Conner Chronicles also.
Oldschool_1987.
I bought season 1 when the second was on TV becUse I heard how great it was, by the time I finished the first season it was cancelled so I didn't buy the second season. Haven't seen it, heard it ends on a cliffhanger which will annoy me if I watch it.
witchblade12.
Yes, definatly. Major cliff hanger. Season 3, I felt, was going to be pretty awesome where they ended it. But we'll never know.
Aleut1.
it was on the WB, and it kills me too. the angel: after the fall comics were a decent continuation though.
gottennks.
duude i watch angel every morning on tnt they really should have given them that last season now we`ll never know if angel beat that dragon
Aleut1.
he made the dragon his pet and named it cordelia
Oldschool_1987.
I heard Buffy season 8 is good as well. Don't read comics myself, not becAuse I find it too geeky but I would have prefered a TV continuation with the original cast. I've read the plot online of both of them, I do wish the Buffy lesbian storyline was in the show lmao.
gottennks.
i hate network tv they always cancel shit when it`s getting good like drive really good show didn`t give it a chance also remember the good guys good show that got the axe also sarah connor chronicles great show dead after season 2 i mean sure the second season was a little weak but they brought some very good ideas out
superomega.
ya, I was sad when stargate universe went under.... I'm glad they set it up to continue though
Oldschool_1987.
Sorry, I don't know what you mean pal. It won't come back now, surely?
Tsabrock.
It's unlikely SGU will come back, but at least they wrote the story in such a way they could explain everybody's long absence and aging should the show get resurrected (it's not outside the realm of possibility).
parker29.
One of my friends is still pissed about Alphas.
bribuckl.
Pretty sure that guy's just a local actor in Portland :\
Oldschool_1987.
The Ghostbusters are after you dude.
asataiyo.
Reminded me of the Portlandia bsg episode. Hilarious
HisDivineOrder.
Any show on Syfy that isn't reality-based will be cancelled within two years.
Aleut1.
Caprica should still be on
Oldschool_1987.
Totally agree, had huge potential. My biggest fear now is Game of Thrones not being able to continue to its end. I'd hate for it to be cancelled.
legio12.
If its on Premium Cable a show is a lot less likely to get canned. Plus GOT has at least another 3years before you have to worry about it getting canned.
Oldschool_1987.
That would be worse for me, I'm guessing it will need at least 8 seasons to tell the entire story. If GoT goes the whole way and tells the whole tale it will go down as the greatest accomplishment in TV history and probably the best fantasy format of all time. If it gets canned so near the end the disappointment would be overwhelming.
jamie_329700.
Hell yeah, it should. I hate the fact that it likely did poorly due to lack of explosions. The second half of the season was SO much better than the first too. And unlike Blood and Chrome, it didn't try to just rehash BSG, it brought new ideas to the table.
Oldschool_1987.
My back is so itchy and I can't reach it to scratch!
cptfancyK.
I love BSG but I almost wish season 4 didn't happen it got too goofy/religious. Angel starbuck is crap
ccharlie183.
OMG YES! BSG QUALITY + THE THING = AMAZING 10 HOUR LONG VERSION OF THE TENSE AND MYSTERIOUS THING! CAPS LOCKS!!!!!!!
Oldschool_1987.
LOUD NOISES!
ZSloth11.
Sounds a little like Carpenter's "The Thing".
Thribs.
Reminded me of that X-Files episode.
Oldschool_1987.
Ice, season 1. Very good episode.
PlinyTheElder.
we're not who we are
Kmadden2008.
Kind of ironic, considering Moore was brought on board to write the screenplay for the 2011 Thing remake/prequel at one point.
Oldschool_1987.
Arctic setting maybe but I'm yet to hear of an extraterrestrial monster that rips people apart and changes into many random forms like a spider head or tentacle dog.
TexasGuy.
After Caprica, Stargate U,and Alphas I don't know that you can trust SyFy to handle a show properly anymore.
jbondsr123.
SyFy is to sci-fi shows as EA is to video games.
smoker93.
If that was the case we would get plenty of more episodes from every franchise.
Mizo13.
BSG was awesome. They took a campy late 70's sci-fi show and made it something... Honestly, epic is really the only word that comes to mind. Yes, some people bitched at the beginning (and a few still do) about them making Starbuck a female, but that was the only complaint that show ever had. From beginning to end, it had you hooked with some impressive plot twists. Best example of that was the last episode of season 3 (finding out who the 5 are and the mysterious return of someone that died... trying to keep this spoiler free for those that haven't seen it, and if you haven't and you have Netflix, go watch it. It's available on Instant).
poroboted.
And call it The someTHING
spctorres.
I don't even watch these kinds of shows anymore. The minute you start to like them, bam it's canceled.
jbondsr123.
You can't win. If you do watch, it has a high chance of being canceled (thanks SyFy). But if you don't watch now, it'll be canceled because of low ratings.
Credar.
PRAISE THE LORDS OF KOBOL!
ginormous_dinornis.
Thank Gods!
applegamer.
i watched an episode of BSG and it was pure shit
Joecommando85.
I pity you.
applegamer.
lol i got downvoted. some people are so tense.
Joecommando85.
You hated on BSG. Not cool man, not cool. :D
RoboMonkeyTwine.
Bah waste of time we all know how it ends. Next!
MrVercettti.
Sounds like "the thing"as a TV series, I hope,it has an Alien reason behinds the outbreak.
RUSMLV.
I guess SciFi is finding all the reality shows aren't helping the network. Maybe they are regretting killing off Moore's spinoff series and burying Stargate.
Psychic_River.
Woo hoo! I liked both BSG and Caprica. Can't wait to see this.
kyjon.
Sounds like The Thing...sounds like it will be fun.
