U.K. Ad Authority: Apple, Not Samsung, Has Thinnest Smartphone

Dominic Pettifer ·  Top Commenter · University of Abertay Dundee
I always thought it was a bit of a cheat to claim the world's thinnest phone, and then stick some lump at the bottom to cram some components in that you couldn't get in otherwise.

The iPhone will fit through a thinner slot, so it is thinner.

Also worth pointing out that the reason for the little hump at the end is so that the device can house a great loudspeaker that's better than any other device on the market. Seriously, even bass comes through on it, which is unheard of.

Strange that they wouldn't take the average thickness of the surface area on the phone to see which is thinner.

Europe is not Asia court-wise. You can't buy justice here.

If it is true that Apple UK measured the sgs2 and not the ASA itself that is pretty silly. You really shouldn't base a ruling on what the competitor says it measures.

They both fit in my pocket together, the S2 feels thinner but it's larger size makes it more noticeable. But can't argue with the definition of thinner? 7

Isn't the Sciphone the same thickness as the iphone considering its a clone?

This is absolutely ridiculous. The iPhone 4 looks like a short, fat brick compared to the Galaxy S2.

Oh well, it's not like everybody doesn't already know that the Galaxy S2 is a far, far superior phone anyway. Had mine 3 months now and it still has as much wow factor as the day I got it.

If it was superior, then why has it sold hardly any copies, superior in what way? Uglyness? Clunky UI?

Daniel Smith I don't know what planet you live on, where selling 5 million units in less than 85 days without even being available in the US is "hardly any". It's both more beautiful and with a better UI than iOS.... once you get back to a clean Android UI rather than TouchWiz, which takes less than 1 minute to do.

They like made 5 million copies...

It should come with a clean brilliant UI (which Android 2.3.4 has), you shouldn't need to change it. Its about experience.

Lets remember how many Galaxy Tabs they sold in Australia or Germany.

Who gives a crap which phone is thinner, seriously? My LG Optimus V is.52" (13.2mm) thick. If it was any smaller I don't think I could hold it in my hand without fear of dropping it.

the LG Optimus Black is 9.2mm at it's thickest.. but they are not marketing it as the world's thinnest..

What about the Xperia Arc's thin claims? That's BS too then.

Самсунг не может сделать телефон тоньше за целый год, после выпуска iPhone 4 - о чем мы говорим тогда :)
