Marc Benioff and Eric Schmidt Keynote

Chris McGrath · Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Out of interest, why does the revolutionary idea of "Folders" get a snarky.
"a la iOS".
but the features that are from Windows Phone -
"notifications are also easily dismissed with a quick swipe left or right".
and the big one "The People Hub, sorry App" doesn't give any credit to Windows Phone?

Dushyant Bing · Top Commenter · Surat, Gujarat
well said sir, i thought the same about people hub ! or whatever this guys are calling it.

Chris McGrath · Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Just to be clear I have no problem with Android including it, if nobody ever copied features from each other where would they be?
But we (and especially Journalists) should give credit where it's due (in this case to Microsoft) and be consistent. Giving credit to apple for "Folders" seems to be setting the bar for what to give credit to pretty low.

John Fernandez
agreed 100% chris

Kev Sharp · Works at Garner Energy
Android Devs...Please stop. Build us a platform that is consistent for Tablets and Phs that ALL apps work on, which reduces device fragmentation and app incompatibility. I have version fatigue... I've had 3 droid phones and a tablet in 3 years. NO MORE. I despise this LG piece of cr#$%^. Make me a tablet with software that scales and works dam it... then I will go buy a candy bar or flip ph - I am official over the smart phone until something consistent and better comes along. You can do BETTER.

Nick Fleker Felker · Top Commenter
Apps should work for both tablets and phones in ICS.

Chandra Thodla · SRM Valliammai Engineering College
exactly my point too.. where is the talk of unified user experience on phone/tablets? how will apps behave/scale in different form factors and screen sizes, resolutions? Has google delivered on its promises - a big NOO

Corey Poindexter · Greensboro, North Carolina
Chandra Thodla Go to this site and ask that question again. Reading is knowledge and knowledge is power. They DID fix that part. http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-4.0-highlights.html

Lee Owen · Top Commenter
There are more highlights & screenshots here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-4.0-highlights.html.

Zachery Tapp · Beloit
Seriously Tech Crunch? Three hours have passed since this phone launched and this is the coverage you have given it? Ridiculous.

Arturo Ryes Escobar Jr. · Top Commenter · Cigales, Castilla Y Leon, Spain
If it were some Apple thing, they would've been liveblogging, tweeting, radio and video broadcasting, etc., what a difference, huh?

Doug Crets · Top Commenter · Self Employed at Dbc media
Dude, you didn't mention that during the demonstration, the Face Unlock didn't work.

Doug Crets · Top Commenter · Self Employed at Dbc media
Which means you must be cutting and pasting this from somewhere.

Luis Diaz
android 1
apple 0

David Rosenblum · Operations Manager at CMI
This is google playing catchup to apple on a lot of features.

Max Powers
David Rosenblum dude stop joking around.. even a fanboy can't say that with a serious face

Jim Silverman · Top Commenter · Hoboken, New Jersey
David Rosenblum - they're playing catch up in ui/ux. android is way ahead of iOS in features and functionality.

Gadi Heilweil · Los Angeles, California
Am I the only one that thinks that the main allure of the nexus line of phones is that the carriers cant mess with them. This makes it unique. No other smartphone offers this.
There are many good reason why I would buy a phone that the carriers cant mess with, I wont get into them too much, but just to give one example: free tethering....

Sholto Ramsay · Top Commenter
Absolutely good point. The issue that android faces is massive fragmentation of the OS so that my HTC courtesy of Orange in the UK is never going to be updated for the new version or even previous versions. So in the case of iOS we see rapid and mass adoption and with Android we see a range of phones all running different versions. Google needs to take a grip on the carriers and require them to offer upgrade routes so users can stay up to date if possible. It is confusing to consumers and a prime reason why Apple has got this right.

Benjamin Toomey · Top Commenter · Bellingham, Washington
I've got a Nexus S, and T-Mobile wants to charge me for tethering now. Let me know how I'm supposed to go about tethering for free on a Nexus phone....

Benjamin Toomey · Top Commenter · Bellingham, Washington
Although, to be clear, I am still glad I went with the Nexus S. The pure Google experience is great (even though they took away Facebook contacts integration (WTF? Will that be re-enabled here, or will I have to make all my friends go to Google+?)), and the fact that I should be first in line for Ice Cream Sandwich after release is very exciting.

Daniel Delacruz · North Shore Community College
*cries* this is more beautiful than the double rainbow.

Kevin Lindquist · Assistant to the Director of Experiental Learning at Marriott school
It looks like a lot of catch up here as Ice Cream Sandwich comes after iOS 5.0. The NFC tech could be a cool differentiator.

JuHyun Park · 한양대학교
안드로이드 아이스크림 샌드위치(ICS) 4.0에서 새로워진 점을 정리.

Dickson Ng'ang'a · Director at Biz-Anchor Technologies
A great piece of innovation it is. Sure to see more soon. The rate at which they are issuing new releases, I will loose count soon! Love it!

Chris Simpson · Software Engineer at Idio Ltd.
Awesome improvements, I'm really impressed.
genuine question: with face unlock surely I could just hold up a photo right? or is the technology more advanced then I'm giving it credit for?

Wayne Wolf · Pinellas Park, Florida
good question. I would like to assume that it would know the difference between a real person and a photo. My laptop has facial recognition on it, and photos don't work to unlock it (I've tried a lot!). here's hoping.

Ben Gadsden
Hmmm.. I've already got half these features on my HD2 thanks to all the jets over at XDA-Developers!

Wayne Wolf · Pinellas Park, Florida
just need to wait for the cyanogenmod team now for a stable ICS rom!

Angelina Christopher · Top Commenter · University of Lincoln
I am with " Luis Diaz " Because the marketing of iPhone 4s is great but the Feature here in Android are much more better then Apple Thing although I do believe they are all connect-able with each other but too much devices are confusing the World which to buy which to not......http://www.saqibimran.com/.

Narayan Babu · Top Commenter · Ernakulam
A few screenshots would have helped. Nevertheless good roundup.

Ryan O. Hicks · Jacksonville, Florida
The new beam is amazing. Gimmie gimmie gimmie. I want to pre-order damnet!

Nick Fleker Felker · Top Commenter
There are a lot of cool features. I wonder how the hands-on will be.

Mrigank Bhowmick · Works at Foxtel
Half of the features are copied from WP7, and not a word there, Its surprising google is even calling this as it own. Its stupid, how they think the rest of us are stupid.

Angus Swan · London, United Kingdom
I'm not sure I get the face-unlocking feature. Is it for people who have difficulty remembering a short number? What happens when you want to lend your phone to someone for 30 minutes when they pop out to the shop? Sounds like a gimmick.

Kyle Maynard · Steelworker at 724 enterprises
Just curious what the difference between Beam and Bump is. Are they pretty much the same thing or does Beam offer a bit more?

Rish Raghu · Founder and Managing Director at Marketing Mule
Google nexus prime or iphone 4S...what to pick?

Vladimir Osinsky · CEO at Igrostar
It's not a question. Google Nexus!

Rish Raghu · Founder and Managing Director at Marketing Mule
Vladimir Osinsky After seeing the video...wow, i'm sold!

Satyajit Sahu · Top Commenter · San Jose, California
A stupid simple feature like screenshots had to wait this long?
Well, so far this looks like the platform is finally finally maturing...

Lee Owen · Top Commenter
