This game's being hyped as the best game EVER, so I assume many of us will be dissapointed; not because it'll be bad, far from it, but all this hype makes expectations go to heaven. I don't know why, but I tend to not learn a lot from games with that much hype...

Generally demos are a separate thing, a tweaked section of the game that has a few people just edit out a piece and put it out there. Though I don't know, maybe that is what happened. But I would amuse if they planed on releasing the demo later that they would have said the demo was delayed along with the actual game.

No... I'm a big fan of GOW I've played all of them. But I wasn't very impressed with the Demo.. it was fun, but it felt the same as always. From the reviews I'm reading, a lot of people say that its a good game, but familiarity drags the experience down. I'll definitely get GOWA eventually. Since so many great games are coming out, and I can't afford every one, I'm going to wait on GOWA now, and get Tomb Raider instead.

It's God of War, of course it's going to play very similar to the other games. People want sequels but then have some expectation that they are going to be completely different or something. If hey were completely different people would be angry at that. The devs cannot win really. I played the demo for a few mins and it was just what I expected. Cannot wait to play more when it comes out.

I will really enjoy it when I purchase it too. But to me its not worth 60 bucks. I don't have a lot of money and I'd rather spend that money on Tomb Raider because it will be a new experience and God Of War will feel familiar. That's why I'm waiting on GOW. If I could afford it, I'd buy everything. I love the God of War series.

I just canceled my pre-order for GOW Ascension and ordered Tomb Raider. I love Gow, but I've read a ton of reviews saying it does nothing new in the series. I'd rather play Tomb Raider first and get GOW on the cheap. Especially since the Last of Us doesn't come with GOW right away.

It comes down to me not being able to afford all the games that are coming out. I'd like to play them all, but I can't afford them all. So I have a choice between Tomb Raider and God of War Ascension. I can only get one. The Last of Us demo was the reason I preordered. God of War Ascension is not a day one purchase for me..I can wait on it . I'm more excited for Tomb Raider.

I was at my local game store picking up Naruto Storm 3 when something shined on the shelf. I had to double check as i didnt believe my eyes. I have a question about exclusives, or more accurately, about the definition of exclusive. I know that this game is exclusive for Sony's consoles (I assume a PS4 version will come along as well). But can a first party game really be called exclusive? What I mean by that is, is it really exclusive if your company was the one that made it? When I think of exclusive I think of something that everyone could have access to but you "stole" it (secured it) for your own use i.e. an exclusive interview. Obviously a 1st party game is exclusive, but there wasn't a chance of it being anything other than that. To me the term exclusive fits better to 3rd party games that have been secured by individual consoles. Unfortunately this type of exclusive is far and few between now. I think what had happened is that our definition of "exclusive" has evolved over time. There are less truly exclusive games coming out so the word exclusive has had to grow to encompass more games. Sorry if that is a little deep, I tend to study words and the usage of them and how they changed over time. (Like how everyone is a "hero" nowadays).

There is a BUT on that case tough. Some PS3 games have a PS Vita version. We should link exclusives to companies, not to hardware. I know Microsoft doesn't owns the PC market, however, they own Windows. Are Alan Wake and Forza ONLY playable on Windows ? In this case no, linux and mac owners can find ways to play those games, so they are by all means, not exclusive.

I know, I tend to have a lot of free time which affords me a lot of time to think. I would like to ask you a follow question. Are there different tiers of exclusivity? God of War is made by a studio that is owned by Sony, so it is exclusive. Let's say that Watch Dogs, which is supposed to be multiplatform is now made made exclusive to Sony through a deal made between them and the studio making the game. In this senario, is there a difference between the exclusivity of God of War and Watch Dogs? I believe that, to a certain degree, there is. While both games are indeed exclusive; Sony made the Watch Dogs exclusive somewhat more "special" (for the lack of a better term) because they secured it away from their competition. I just feel that there is a different level of exclusivity in regards to 1st, 2nd and 3rd party games. You know, there was a time when Sony was losing 3rd party exclusives left and right and to their credit they realized their problem and bought up and partnered with a whole bunch of studios to create games only for them. I think Microsoft has sort of found themselves in this boat now.

Uncharted is an exclusive, Halo 4 is an exclusive, Zelda, Mario etc.. basically any game that is only available on one platform, whether its Xbox, PS, Nintendo or PC. That's an exclusive.

I think of exclusives overall not in terms of if it is on different platforms made by the same company (i.e PlayStation 1/2/3/PSP/Vita) but if it is only on that one brand. For example Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is exclusively on PS3 and PS Vita, I classify that being a PlayStation (brand) exclusive. Gravity Rush is a PS Vita exclusive and Uncharted 3 is a PS3 exclusive but I ultimately consider them being a PlayStation (brand) exclusive. Think of it from this point of view --->

Zelda: Link's Awakening isn't an exclusive then. If that particular game is available on multiple platforms (never played it), its not an exclusive. I consider that a third party game. A game only available on one system, like Uncharted 2, is an exclusive because you can only get it on PS3. But Uncharted technically isn't exclusive to PS3 because it has a game on the PS Vita. I don't consider that third party because PS Vita is Sony owned. If an Uncharted game was released on an Apple product, than the Uncharted franchise would not be exclusive. But any particular game available on a single platform is exclusive. So Halo 4, to my knowledge, its only available on Xbox 360, not PC. But a game like Halo 1, is available on PC and Xbox. So Halo isn't an exclusive franchise because you can some of its games on the PC. But Halo 4 is an exclusive game because its only available on the Xbox 360.

It doesn't really matter. I assume my question was posed as more of a philosophical question than anything else. On that note, that same could be said about philosophy as a whole, huh? I'm all for good games and exclusives, unless it is to the deferment of the gaming community as a whole. It is possible however that none of this will matter within the next decade or so, if we are heading to a one console platform. Which ultimately could be great for gamers...as long as MS or Sony don't own the console. The way I see it, I would love for Intel or AMD (probably Intel) to create the one console that the publishers would put their games on. I don't think MS or Song would mind too much to know that they for have to take a loss on the console anymore. Although Nintendo will probably still make their own console...you know, because they are Nintendo.

Exclusives like Last of Us are called "exclusives" because you can only play it exclusively on PS3. Not very hard to undersand. Oh and when a studio makes a game for just one platform that isn't owned by the 1st party it is called a 2nd party. Quantic Dream for example is a 2nd party studio because they are not owned by Sony yet they only make Sony games.

My question was not asked for a lack of understanding of what an exclusive is but more for an attempt to explain that not all exclusive are equal. It is not a 1=1 thing. God of War is an exclusive. Yes. But let's say Sony we're to pull an upset and get GTA V to become an exclusive. To me, GTA V becoming exclusive to Sony is a bigger deal than God of War being an exclusive. We know God of War is an exclusive there is nothing really special to note about it (in terms of its exclusivity, just like Halo 4 for Xbox). I just feel like 3rd party exclusive are bigger than 1st or 2nd party exclusives. Yes, they are all exclusives, but to some degree 3rd party exclusives take more work to achieve and should be held higher than your standard exclusive.

How many third party exclusives are there though? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're saying a third party exclusive is a franchise that was originally third party, then suddenly became an exclusive to one system. For instance, if Call of Duty suddenly became exclusive to Xbox 360, that would be considered a third party exclusive. Correct? If that's what you're saying, I don't think that happens very often. I can't think of one off the top of my head. To me, exclusives and third party games are separate entities. Microsoft and Sony buy studios to separate their consoles in the competition.. People who swear by Xbox love Halo and Gears, and those who swear by PS3 love Uncharted, God of War etc. I don't think we'll ever see Halo or Gears becoming third party or a Call of Duty becoming an exclusive to one system.

Mass Effect would be the most recent example of a game that was a 3rd party exclusive becoming a miltiplatform game. During and before the PS2 / Xbox years, there were more 3rd party exclusive games (or franchises); Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid. A lot of these Sony exclusive franchises became miltiplatform during those years and the lead up to the current gen. I think Sony realized this trend and, to their credit, they acted, acquiring and partnering with multiple studios. They realized that they could not survive off 3rd party exclusives and decided to do something about it. Microsoft has also done this to an extent. What were at one point 3rd party exclusives have become 1st and 2nd party exclusives.

I see what you're saying. MGS did become Multi-platform, but Konami was never a first party studio, they created a third party exclusive. Now games that were exclusive to PS2 and psp (MGS2, MGS3 and peace walker) are now available on Xbox 360. So it was a third party exclusive (cause Konami was never a first party studio for Sony) and it went multi-platform. At this point though it doesn't matter so much. Mass Effect 1 came out in 2007, and it went multiform after 5 years. Mass Effect 1 already generated the sales it needed during its exclusivity on the Xbox 360.

I shall do my best to help you: Trinity Universe, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk. 2, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, Mugen Souls, Atelier Totori, Atelier Meruru, Atelier, Ayisha, Atelier Rorona, Ar tonilco, Last Rebellion, Valkyria Chronicles, Flower, Flow, Journey, Tales of Graces f, Time and Eternity, Disgaea 3, Disgaea 4, Disgaea D2, The Guided Fate Paradox, The Witch and the Hundred Knights, Ni No Kuni... That's all I can list off the top of my head. Anyone have any more?

None are remakes and they're all on the PS3. A good portion of what I listed were localized by NISA like the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. Some of what I listed haven't released yet (4 of them). Not being rude, but maybe your game catalog doesn't include titles like I mentioned. While I love AAA games (Skyrim, Grand Theft Auto), these titles bring found memories as well. I would assume a good portion of people here know about Journey as it was IGN's game of the year, as well as PSN game of the year. Valkyria Chronicles at one point was mentioned to be quite possibly the RPG on the system, and if memory serves me correctly it wasn't that long ago. Disgaea has been an established franchise that dates back to the PS2 days with some fun PSP installments. Tales of Graces f is another game in the long running franchise. The games I mentioned may not be the big blockbusters in everyone's eyes. Nor may they sell the most copies, but they're great for RPG/quirky game lovers like myself. As for the remakes, I assume you mean HD games. Though how can you not count it as an exclusive? When Final Fantasy X HD and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD arrive, wouldn't they still be considered exclusives? Just some thoughts I was having. What kind of games do you own or like. I don't count remakes because that is a cheap way of getting exclusives. It wouldn't be too hard to remake your game library every gen and just say, "look at all the exclusives we have!" I'm looking at you Nintendo. And my bad, I got Valkyria Chronciles mixed up with Valkyrie Profile; games which I have both played. Valkyria Chronciles would be an example of a game exclusive that hurts gamers though. In that, forcing the sequels to be PSP only really screwed us over. I would ha e played them all if I didn't have to buy another (got rid of the two I had before) PSP.

Actually... CLASSIC means something is the perfect example of a particular style. It has nothing to do with how long ago something came out. So if Uncharted 3 is the PERFECT game or something along those lines (which I dont think it is but still)... even if it came out yesterday, its a classic. The whole thing about it having to come out a long time ago is because if a game is a CLASSIC example of a particular style it should be considered timeless, which means in 10 years you can play the game and still consider it perfect... it's really not too hard to see a game as perfect and know that in 10 years it'll still be perfect.

Bioshock had this amazing and complex world that had so much to say. Every corner was covered in deep symbolism and theology . That is was made it so great.

The part where you play as young drake and when drake is trapped in the desert were brilliant, but the game left so many loose ends. The story left me unsatisfied. I was really hoping they would of gone into that deal with Drake not being his real name, and don't pretend to kill a character that was just weak.
