Why are we looking at Yahoo Searches rather than Google? Or even Bing?

yahoo bashers - a note to you - yahoo is a 6 billion dollar company and nets out a billion dollars a year in profit. please get out of valley's echo-chamber and see how the world really uses internet.

Check out Yahoo's stock price (and market share) over the last 5 years when compared to Google and then let us know if you'd like to revise your opinion. BTW: my original post was just to be funny, so chill bro, it's all good :)

Nice post Erick, but I think you can't really compare the two - Twitter Hashtags are representation of a conversation surrounding a subject whereas Yahoo searches are just that, searches about specific subjects! It seems you may get loads of people looking into who and what Kim Kardashian is / has been doing but more people are interested in talking about real world issues such as Egypt & Japan rather than celebrity... What do you think?

It makes sense that the top 10 would be different across Twitter and Yahoo, because search is what people do to learn more about a topic, while Twitter is someplace where you express whatever opinion you already have. In that sense they're almost opposites.

Wait.. #idonotunderstandwhy beat out #wtf or even #fail, which didn't even make the list? It sounds like Twitter may have an opening for a new data analyst.
