Goodbye Heather`
Goodbye, Heather | TechCrunch

We will miss you VERY much. :'(
@Matt Burns
Thank you, Heather Harde. Thank you for everything.
@Ilan Abehassera
Heather Harde, you rock.
@Tushar Khandelwal
agreed! thanks Heather for making this publication one that I come back to every day! I hope TC can survive in all its glory without you...
@Tom Anderson
I'm a fan, Heather. Always admired your work back in the day. :-)
@Matthew Moore
I admired your work back in the day. :-)
@Thomas Vellaringattu
@[106857546019098:274:Tom Anderson] - I sent you message on FB. Hope to hear back from you. Have a nice day!
@Jason Ogle
Serge Bronstein I admire your tenacity, but you should know something...Tom doesn't work at Myspace anymore.
@Jon Orlin
Very sad day for TechCrunch; Heather will be sorely missed more than non-TechCrunchers can ever imagine.
@Laura Boychenko
Agreed! Thank you Heather, for all of your hard work and dedication!!
@Steve Poland
Congrats heather! Great job thru the years.
@Jamie Quiocho
It has been an honor Heather, we will miss you!
@Jeff 'Digi' Lange
Heather you have always been kind to me, appreciate everything you did for Techcrunch. Look forward hearing what you do next.
@Ken Yeung
Thanks Heather for what you've done at TechCrunch. It's been amazing to see the company grow under your leadership, along with Michael Arrington, and I wish you nothing but the best in your next venture...Congratulations...
@Chris Saad
I remember when her office was my bedroom at Mike's house. It was fun sharing a work/sleep space with you Heather :) Good luck with the next gig!
@Nik Cubrilovic
thanks and good luck.
@Tanya Porquez
O Captain, my Captain... Heather you inspire me like no other! I see nothing but good things ahead for you. xo
@Tyler Crowley
The end of an era. Now get some sleep! :)
@David Abraham
aw man...now this one hurts. All the best Heather.
@Michael Arrington
None of this had to happen.
@Hadi Partovi
so sad to watch techcrunch just falling apart. wtf
@Michael Arrington
@[25695:2048:Hadi Partovi] it's like watching the movie Titanic. You know exactly how it all ends, but you keep hoping it won't.
@Ryan Lee Cox
Wow, this is horrible. Once the best Tech source, is flaming out like a great Fourth of July display. "I remember when," is going to be the phrase TechCrunch is known for. So sad that what Arrington built is left to this. I think we all know who we are pointing the fingers at. (Hint: it isn't Arrington)
@Sameer Parwani
Yep it didn't have to happen... but was bound to when TC was sold to AOL.
@Christian Burns
A good mark of leadership is building something that can last on its own when that leader is gone. If the team that was assembled was allowed to do its job, it would have been sustainable. Techcrunch is not a house of cards. It was a rock solid Juggernaut.
@Sage Brennan
I hope *someone* (ahem, Mike Arrington... and have you decided who will play you in the film?) is taking close notes for a fascinating book on this tragically unnecessary flameout.
@Adam Jackson
Michael, as an entrepreneur, I have to imagine that beyond the money, fame, recognition and opportunities TechCrunch has given you, there has to be some emotional side of this for you, right? It just seems surreal right that your baby is just..well sinking. Sorry man.
@Barry M. Goodknight
I think everyone knew what was going to happen as soon as AOL bought TC which is why people were so upset. When is the last time AOL did anything right? Hell, with the exception of AOL and AIM when is the last time AOL even had a success? Soon as their 56K clients dry up and that free money stops coming and they can't just buy property after property to destroy, they will finally go out of business and the web will be a better place. Fuck you, AOL.
@Chris Voss
Techcrunch - Aol Aol'd it. They compete with Yahoo and HP to see how many acquisitions they can ruin. Next week they'll have Techrunch CD's in the mail I hear. Sorry Michael I know what its like to love your business like a baby.
@Lucas Rayala
Michael Arrington ug. sorry, mike.
@Arthur J. Mukembo
Godspeed Heather, you've left a legacy to aspire to.
@Quang Ly
Great job Heather. Best of luck on your future endeavors...
@Ryan Born
Best of luck with your future endeavors Heather!
@Rip Empson
We love you, Heather. Thanks for everything you've done for us, and for TechCrunch.
@Wayne Sutton
Sad day. Thanks Heather for all you have done at TC. Wish you the best on your new ventures. Good luck Erick holding it together at TC.
@Jason Kincaid
Heather has been much more to TechCrunch than its business brains. In many ways, she's been TechCrunch's 'rock' — unfaltering, highly intelligent, and incredibly determined. She's shielded the writers from anything that isn't directly related to editorial, which has been a boon to helping TechCrunch grow. In an age where metrics are everything to many publications, she's never burdened us with having to think about page views — we've always had the benefit of being able to write about what we think is interesting and newsworthy. She's also apparently capable of operating under even the most hostile conditions, provided she has a Red Bull within reach. And she can debate with Mike better than anyone. This news makes me sad, but if anyone deserves a break, it's Heather. Thank you for everything.
@Jeff Clavier
Well said Jason, as one who has seen TechCrunch grow from its very first (so freaking long) post about Technorati, Heather was definitely one of the smartest and most critical hires Mike ever made. She can be proud of the business and the brand she helped nurture, and I hope that she takes a bit of a well deserved break.
@Michael Celiceo
A sad day indeed! Good luck Heather with your next endeavor....
@Judd Marcello
"Who's going to water all the plants... "
@Robert Scoble
Mike has always gotten the public credit but I've watched as Heather did the hard work behind the scenes. She would be a great board member for any company and if she ever started a startup I sure would consider joining her. Quality people all the way around and a huge loss for AOL.
@Giorgio Marandola
Agree, TechCrunch will lose all the hard rocks during the next months.
@Craig Kanalley
Big loss for AOL.
@Michael Van Der Galien
It's terrible to see that many good folks are more or less leaving TechCrunch. As Michael Arrington says, at the page: "Hadi Partovi it's like watching the movie Titanic. You know exactly how it all ends, but you keep hoping it won't."
@Don Burnett
A big loss for TechCrunch.. But honestly it's typical management style in business to over use and underestimate contributions..
@Halley Suitt Tucker
She's excellent. Anything she does next will be a success.
@Howard Greenstein
Heather, my best to you and best of luck on whatever comes next.
@Jacqueline Totten
Very sad but not unexpected. TechCrunch is becoming a shadow of its former self. Sad and totally avoidable. What is wrong w/AOL and AH?
@Vaughn Brown
Heather, thanks for all of your hard work and help, patience and tolerance over the past few years. Thanks for giving me a shot to come work with you and the team.
@Mike Butcher
It was an honour and a pleasure to work with Heather, and she was always a great supporter of what we've done with TechCrunch Europe. All the best for the future Heather! You rock!
@Elin Blesener
Thank you so much for everything you have done for TechCrunch and for us, Heather. We love you and you will be so incredibly missed.
@Andrew Hillman
AOL sucked the life right out of TC. What a disaster.
@Daniel Levine
Heather was the first boss I ever had when I worked at TechCrunch and she was great. While I was only there for a year it was amazing to watch her grow editorial, double down on events by launching Disrupt, begin the process of building a sales team with Vaughn who was excellent. All the while she did a great job working with Mike and the rest of the team. I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the job Heather did and the kind of person she is. I wish her the best in whatever she does next.
@Greg Kumparak
I keep starting to comment and finding myself at a loss for words. Thank you, Heather. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You're an endless inspiration, and were the best CEO any of us could have asked for. You've been the boundless soul of this machine for as long as I've been here, and I'm proud to have worked with you.
@Anderson Mccutcheon
GL :(
@David Diaz
I think Jason Kincaid's comment pretty much sums it up. Heather was an amazing boss and a real inspiration. Happy to have been able to spend a year at TC under her guide.
@Vineet Thanedar
You've been a terrific and inspirational leader to work with, Heather. You will be sorely missed at TechCrunch...like Jon Orlin said, more than non TCers can ever imagine.
@John Biggs
TC is/was full of great people and Heather Harde was one of the best. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
@Joshua Fruhlinger
Good luck, Heather! You can still call me with random questions on the weekends, I promise!
@Kimball Bighorse
Heather, you're a class act.
@Michael Schneider
I've never seen such an awesome brand implode so quickly. It would certainly make me think twice about ever selling to AOL. Heather, you did an amazing job. Best of luck.
@Ted Rheingold
Can't wait to see what you do next Heather!
@Tanya Denise Halepota
Am sure many good opportunities will come her way, and she will choose the one right for her. Great talent.
@Tanya Denise Halepota
Btw, Ted, drove by your new digs in Palo Alto yesterday. Welcome to town. :)
@Jeannie Logozzo
I've had the privilege of working beside Heather on the business side for the last 5 years and it's an amazing ride I'll never forget. In the most unselfish manner possible, Heather always put TechCrunch first and ahead of her own needs. We all owe her a huge amount of gratitude. Heather, I am so proud to call you a colleague, but more than that, I'm honored to call you my friend. I know there are only great things awaiting you in the future! xo
@Steve Sarner
and I have had the privilege of working with you Jeannie, as well as Heather, over the course of the last year. Looking forward to many more opportunities to work together as well and pleased to be able to join this long list of admirers wishing Heather all the best in the future.
@Iam John Lai
An inspiration you are Heather. Thanks and good luck from New Zealand.
@Jason Feffer
Good job with TC... now on to your next success.
@Nicholas Granado
yup onward!
@Paul Carr
What Mike said: none of this had to happen. It's easy to blame the sale to AOL but Heather fought harder and longer than anyone to keep TC independent post acquisition, and her efforts could have paid off. Really. Only Heather can tell her precise reasons for leaving, but she was the last (and best) line of defense preventing TC from becoming a wholly controlled subsidiary of AOL/HuffPost. With her gone, so has that vital Chinese wall. Sadder still, TC has lost a pitch-perfect leader; a 25-hour-a-day champion who inspired all of us lucky enough to work with her. So sad.
@Kavan Seggie
I had a very brief encounter with Heather during the TC50 days. She was super nice and professional when setting up an interview with Calacanis. Best of luck Heather!
@Ben Tseitlin
the few times I met heather she seemed like one of the nicest people around. wish her all the best in whatever she does next. sad day for tech crunch.
@Peach Collar
First Mike, paul carr, MG, Sarah, and now Heather? Mike, whatever you're brewing over there, I want in.
@Leena Rao
Heather-you were an amazing CEO and leader. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for everything and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. You will be missed.
@Frank Derpton
Gone before any of us had a chance to know her, really. Mochi Krall
@Frank Derpton
@[100000312137015:2048:Rudy Stewtopia] hey did you really know her? So many goodbyes
@Florian Seroussi
Erick you make it sound as she died or something. She will do just fine. Not sure I can say the same about TC.
@Carlos Alberto Viciano
is not dead! :)
@Arleen Boyd
Good note Florian! She'll be back with cooler stuff!
@Ross Levinsohn
A true star. Good luck HH
@Grzegorz Bober
Fuck Arianna Huffington.
@Rudy Stewtopia
Sad to see the continued fall of Techcrunch, don't you think Randy & Frank?
@Frank Derpton
For every season, turn turn etc. ask @[100003292150823:2048:Herpina Anderson] about that
@Wes DeBoer
Nicely said. Huge loss to Tech Crunch, but a gigantic gain fir anyone else!
@Leslie Hitchcock
Heather, thank you for giving me a chance at TechCrunch. I came to work here because of you and have learned more than I ever thought possible. You will be missed but your spirit will carry on in the people you've cultivated and believed in. Thank you, thank you.
@Christopher Michel
Heather is simply incredible. She's an enormous talent, a selfless/dedicated leader, and a wonderful person. I'm sure she's been inundated with calls for her next CEO gig.
@Tom Patterson
@[502085998:2048:Heather Harde] is simply the highest quality of human being. Thank You heather for being a model of leadership and helping make the valley a better place.
@Jordan Elpern-Waxman
I've always felt like Heather was the unsung hero of TechCrunch.
@Loy Okezie
Why all the fuss? Heather was hired because she's an M&A expert and has helped TechCrunch through its acquisition by Aol. Now that TechCrunch has a new owner, isn't it better for her to move on?
@Kaleb Askew
:/
@Freddy Mini
Wishing her all the best. She deserves it.
@Ricardo Solon
danmm... Mike Arrington Sarah Lacy Heater Harde MG Siegler Paul Carr and we don't hear Jason no more... the whole super star team is gone.... no disrespect to the new writers but it was a superstar team... danmm techrunch lost is soul.... techcrunh was more then just a tech news blog... it was the spirit of a culture...
@Glen B. Stewart
I always liked TechCrunch and to see Heather step down would be a loss of persona for them. - Glen B. Stewart http://ExecutiveFitnessMastery.com http://GetMorePatients101.com
@Andrew James Villarose
bye!
@Priya Mishra
I always admired you Heather, I am a big fan of your managing style. One word #RESPECT.
@Aaron Mathew Crayford
Good luck on your next venture Heather!
@Ernie Mariette
Heather is simply the best. Full stop.
@John Exley
Mannnn reading these comments is crazy... so many great peeps singing Heather's praises. It is a sad day in tech.. I was blessed to volunteer for TechCrunch twice in NYC, working for Jeannie Logozzo and Gene and Tanya. These people are the best in biz. Shout out to Heather and to Mike on assembling TC's team. Heather Harde - good luck on your next move, come back to NYC and start something!
@Desdemona Bandini
Heather is an inspiration for females in tech. She will top this, just wait!
@Jill Kennedy
That is so sad - the wheels have come off the bus - sorry to see you go, Heather. If it's any solace (probably not for AOL shareholders), I think it's a foregone conclusion that the Huffington Post is dying and will most likely be dead by the end of 2012... we can only pray... http://mankabros.com/blogs/onmedea/2011/05/04/the-huffington-post-is-dead-r-i-p/
@Ashley Hawkins
Fuck it, I'm sad, and I never even knew her. TechCrunch's changed so much. We'll miss you, Heather Harde.
@Rahul Nihalani
I'm sitting here with my jaw on the floor. Heather, you're not only an intelligent, hard working, and incredibly discerning leader, but an amazing person to boot. You have conducted this orchestra beautifully allowing every individual to flourish naturally. When I think about the times you've lead us to victory with such grace and humility, it makes me smile. You've always been the heart of TC, and I know that we will all truly miss you.
