GLOWING APPLE LOGO iPhone MOD Available Soon From iPatch

Snag This Glowing Apple iPhone 4 Mod Before Apple’s Lawyers Do! | TechCrunch

@Julian Hugh
I don't see what is the big deal. If you paid for the phone, you should be able to add or change it anyway you want it. All the consumers need to know is that the warranty is no longer valid if you make a change to their products.
@Matt Burns
An owner can do whatever the hell they want. But a retailer cannot sell an item like the one above that clearly infringes on several Apple copyrights and patents.
@Killian Bell
The problem with this is it uses Apple's logo. If it was a rear cover with a glowing elephant, there's not a lot Apple can do about it. But because it features the Apple logo there's a copyright infringement.
@Julian Hugh
Killian Bell Thanks for clarifying this. Then this should give Apple an idea to sell something like this. I am sure people will buy something like this as an add on. It looks really cool.
@Rick Muñoz
Awesome video that doesn't actually show ANY of the work being done, just dude's giant paws. What a joke.
@John Anderson
Nice. Would be a better video, perhaps, if his file showing what he is doing wasn;t obscured by his hand :)
@Skip Fredricks
How effed up is it that Corporate whore Apple can decide what I can or can not do with my $300 iPhone I bought from them. If I want to install a light in my iPhone Logo I should be able to. If U follow that BS logic, Motor Cycle companies wouldn't allow U to modify Your Bikes. WTF
@Matt Burns
You can install a derringer in your iPhone if you want and Apple can't/won't do anything. But a retailer cannot sell a mod that includes parts that infringes on Apple's copyrights and patents.
@Casey Govero
Matt Burns not to mention, we've all seen the videos of the "iphones that have burst into flames." Who's to say this mod won't cause more heat...more chance of overusing the battery to power this...thus causing more phone malfunctions...which apple could then be sued for. There's a reason these mods are illegal..they could be dangerous.
@Skip Fredricks
Casey Govero Yes the burst into flames coming from the Apple Factory, No one has ever said because it was modified, If I want to take a chance and eff with the phone that I 'own' .. "it not a lease or a rental" I should be ale to! The reason they are illegal is that Apple wants to control them, so they at some point can sell them.
@Skip Fredricks
Matt Burns Selling a product that modifies another product for personal use only affects copyright and patents if U sell the modified product.
@Casey Govero
Skip Fredricks and I'm not saying I agree with apples stance. just telling you why they dont allow it. and I'm not saying the mod causes that. I'm saying its a possibility and that apple hasnt tested that mod..therefore there is no quality control with the mod to make sure it doesnt cause that. for all I know it could make the phone run better.
@Ellery Familia
Casey Govero nope. this voids your warranty. I can't sue BMW because I upgraded my 325 with a massive turbo and it blew up.
@Dan Webster
Video not available in mobile version. What the?
@Philippe Sireau
Great, I'm sure it also solves the iPhone battery life draining problem. Oh wait.
@Dan Andersson
I was just gonna say that; I wonder how much extra power it uses up by lighting that thing every time?
@Raheem Parpia
Dan Andersson anyone know?
@Michael S. Rivette
Id like to see this on the next phone. Its a nice touch.
@Elin Blesener
Me too. I know so many people that would love this.
@Jason D. O'Grady
Looks like they're offline. Neither the store page, nor the main site will resolve. Will everyone just get off it already so that I can order one?
@JimBob JoeBob
oh, great...and, why not wear one of those light-up bolos that they give out at b'nai mitzvah parties, in the shape of the apple logo, to let everyone know you're a mindless apple cultist...
@Singa Jantan
I would agree & buy this if Apple Store produce & sell it. That way it'll cost less (maybe?). Beside the s & h would be cheaper.
@Karen Livingston
This company Goba is giving away an iPhone 4S to someone that tries their app this december: http://goba.co/win-a-phone.
@Melvin Ng
looks like another China rip off, here is the orginal product: http://www.ipatchonline.co.uk/iPhone_4_apple_illumination_mod.html.
@Aurelien Guillou
If you go to the kogadget.com website and read the support section\. Support for iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S / iPhone 4 CDMA (using different rear panels). ***Note***: - iPhone 4 (GSM) users should order the rear panel for the iPhone 4. - iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 (CDMA) users should order the rear panel for iPhone 4S / CDMA. Are they saying we should purchase a back up rear panel?
@Dylan Smith
Great, Just what everyone should have, a glowing apple on their iPhone so I can pick out the trending apple zombies that seem to be growing... ewww
