Why Salesforce Wants In On The $6 Billion Talent Management Software Market | TechCrunch
@Scott Allison
Smart move by Salesforce, "human capital management" (yuck, hate that phrase) is an essential part of every business. It's ironic that people are the most important asset and most expensive resource of every business, yet software is rarely used effectively to help manage and develop people. The SuccessFactors and Rypple acquisition shows that this market is finally coming to life. Look out for my startup, Teamly http://teamly.com This is only the beginning of next generation people management.
@Yves Greenwood
I would agree there's a lot here SuccessFactors Rypple and FreeCRM.com as well being next-gen management systems.
@William Ross Ruffin
no its going to be called ruthven tech so you better start kissing my ass there's going to be a gang of laywer nailing someone ass.
@Herman Chandi
Salesforce apparently paid $65 million via http://www.markevanstech.com/2011/12/16/rypple-revenue-and-canadian-startups/.
@Keyne ON
Last time that I gave a try to their software I was surprised by how they got clients with that crap user interface. This is one of these that do not have a "1998" interface and off course was not built by their team.
@Serge Bronstein
why don't they worry about making salesforce PROFITABLE first, before jumping into another segment.
@Daniel Enthoven
I think this makes a lot of sense for Salesforce if they can sell it to sales management. Sales managers, more than any others, are focused on the performance of their employees, as their paycheck depends on it. Any tool that helps them get their people to perform better is worth a fortune to them.
@David Garcia
Love this. How can you get buy ins from unions?
@Valeria Kastrama
There is another cloud based Effective Employee Management system WorkforceGrowth.com. They seem better than Rypple and I bet that some big player can snap them up very soon.
@Noah Eisner
“Zynga for the enterprise"? Sweet! One of my employees was just asking for a virtual tractor. He'll be so excited.
@JJ Livingston
Bersin did an article on this space and the players for HR tech folks out there. They mentioned: WorkSimple, Achievers, Culture App, Small Achievers, and Saba. It's pretty clear from searching about the space that WorkSimple is the most common and knowledgeable to Rypple. We use achievers internally for staff to give away gifts not really to share work and employees would never use it for that. And no one buys Saba if they want an HR career to last. This is amazing for the future of HR. Makes employees love HR again.
@Morgan Norman
Big move for Salesforce as they try to grab more users out of Sales and Service groups. Truly the end of bad performance reviews. Tough news for Taleo, Cornerstone, SAP who need to get employees to truly adopt their software. WorkSimple has been on the edge of this space for 3 years now. We tackle things a little different from Rypple: A focus on Social Goals, Feedback, Recognition, and Professional Reputation. More bottom up than employee management. We have an always free platform to check out: http://getworksimple.com. Take us for a spin and I'm sure you will be hearing more about us others mentioned below.
