Blackberry GOODER THAN iPhone
Facebook For Android Finally Has More Daily Active Users Than Facebook For iPhone | TechCrunch
@Edmund Rojas
who cares, its facebook, and this coming from an android fan! lol
@Edmund Rojas
however I must admit the fact there are only 100 million or so facebook users on either platform shows that the google+ android integration is going to help g+ surpass facebook quickly.
@John Fernandez
Edmund Rojas uh no.... there arent that many smartphone users to begin with. facebook is THE most popular app on all platforms, including windows phone 7 which has it integrated at the OS level. google+ is not even top 1000 apps downloaded on any platform.
@Oliur Rahman
Android FTW.
@John Fernandez
people who own android HATE android. you realize that right? go search #droidrage on twitter... every second there are 5 new posts explaining how they hate their android phone. ANDROID IS A PEICE OF SHIT..... The fact that it took until now for it to overtake the iphone even though it has triple the userbase is amazingly bad..... that means android users only put up with their android phone instead of fiddling with it and downloading apps like facebook, they download virus scanners instead.
@Jazzy Jazz Keith
John Fernandez - you are TRUELY DELUSIONAL, ..... but everyone knows that about AppleTards. With a last name like Fernandez, you probably use a Taco to make calls.
@Dan Savage
I love how the author actually things that an early feature released on a Facebook app will get people to seriously consider what phone they'll buy.
@Edmund Rojas
I also noticed this, if anything the early timeline release will make people NOT want the android version, alot of people are already upset about this new feature
@Shanmuga Subramanian
Edmund Rojas Yes The problem with timeline is I am not able to see my friend's wall and activity log
@Edmund Rojas
Shanmuga Subramanian its also very creepy and makes the work for stalkers alot easier, people will inevitably say "just delete what you dont want people to see" but who really has the time to go through years and years of posts?
@Ariel Castillo
Edmund Rojas Delete? You can't delete from timeline, lol.
@Edmund Rojas
Ariel Castillo dunno havent gotten around to setting it up yet, I need to find a free weekend to do it lol
@John Fernandez
i love how android users think an open source code is remotely on a consumers wish list.... mobile facebook timeline is high on about 850 millions people's wishlist... much more than an open souce OS source code.
@Edmund Rojas
John Fernandez hahahahaha you think regular joe on the street knows the difference between open source and non open source? you think regular joes even knows what code is? lol
@John Fernandez
Edmund Rojas thats what im getting at dude, most android dont care about that stuff... android users like dan savage think they do.
@John Ellenich
I wonder how much of the iPhone decline is a result of their new app being absolutely terrible? Most people I know have switched to using the web app.
@Justin Chan
ture. I use the web app and Flipboard.
@Sujal Shah
What's AppData's methodology?
@Michael Gonzalez
AppData uses a DAU / MAU ratio to determine how actively the users use the application. This ratio is a standard method of analysis for applications.
@Michael Gonzalez
Here's a link to their data http://www.appdata.com/compare/apps?compare_type=applications&compare1_name=Facebook+for+iPhone&compare1_id=&compare2_name=Facebook+for+Android&compare2_id=&compare3_name=&compare3_id=&compare4_name=&compare4_id=&compare5_name=&compare5_id=&commit=Compare+!
@Michael Gonzalez
All this data really means is that there have been significantly less daily active users than monthly active users for the past month. We can conclude what we want to the reasons why. But without further research at this point its inaccurate to make any justifiable conclusions.
@Sujal Shah
Never mind, found the link the second time I looked: http://www.appdata.com/about.
@Dany Pelletier
Cool. Liked the "finally" you put in the title, as if it was a necessity that FINALLY Android surpasses iOS in that aspect -_-
@Justin Chan
Can I say that there are 115.7 million Daily Mobile Active Users for Facebook?
@Bill Garrett
Isn't the real story that if you have an app less useful than the mobile site, people will use the mobile site or someone else's app? FB for Android is finally a good app, so now it's worth opening.
@Hervé Eulacia
I really don't understand the thinking of the author. We knew long ago that Android would eventually dominate and more or less destroy whatever stands in its way. Resistance is futile. Search, phones, books, music, online video, mapping and local recommendations, newsgroups, online advertising and photo albums, mobile payment, delivery services, VoIP, cloud services and applications, Google is everywhere. But how can anyone in his right mind enjoy such a nightmare is beyond me...
@Miad Hoque
I have a Galaxy Nexus, and the new Facebook app update really bogged the damn thing down, wish I could go back to a faster version without sideloading an.apk from some shady source.
@David Nguyen
It's stupid articles like these that help contribute to the pointless fanboy bashing you see on just about every technology news site these days.
@Aaron Elharar
gotta love TechCrunch's impromptu "photoshoping" of featured images.
@Matthew Geyster
That's because iPhone users have had the app and know it sucks and android just got it and thinks their cool.
@Lee Owen
I agree, who cares... except that iPhoners in general have been queefing smugness for so long it's satisfying to see that pseudo superiority deflate. Not all iPhone users of course... just the ones commenting on Android articles.
@Marius Hilarious
Ok the latest release was alright, but why did it take FB 3 years to make an acceptable Android app? The one before the latest release was such a pain in the neck and inconvenient to navigate. Seriously, it would take a team of 5 skilled programmers and designers 2 weeks at the most to get a decent app done and FB HAS those resources. I really don't get why it took FB as a soon to be $100 billion company 3 years to get an acceptable mobile app out?
@Josh Constine
I've clarified that I think Facebook putting Android development first could set an example for other developers, which could in turn sway people deciding which device to buy. I agree with commenter Dan Savage that each platform's Facebook app's feature set alone wouldn't have a major influence on buying decisions.
@Serge Bronstein
apple's dictatorship is not winning aww... I eve interviewed for apple, made it to 2nd round of phone interviews.... maybe if they HIRED me maybe I could've helped turn them around...
@Josh Barkin
Are there any surveys published on why people buy an android phone vs iPhone? A hunch that it's based on price and not because of the apps. I doubt that the feature set of a Facebook app would influence a device purchasing decision, or a developer. I would think that if "apps" was driving a purchasing decision, then the iPhone would win hands down. While it's not the rule, apps generally work better on iPhone because developers only have to build for a limited number of devices to support and monetize millions of people. You generally see higher quality apps on the iPhone because developers can focus on building a great app, not make concessions because of device fragmentation and only include features designed for a lower common denominator.
