And then there were 3: Christopher Hitchens Has Die
Christopher Hitchens has died: Fighter, doubter, provocateur - latimes.com
@Kudus Akinde
Thank you, Mr. Hitchens, for being brave enough to say what you said and continue to say. Rest In Peace.
@Gamba Joel Sb
What a lost!!
@I Hate Cox Communications
He was a prick.
@Timothy Ferris
Did you ever meet him, Mr. Hate?
@Pedro Arturo Veras
You bet he was a prick. A prick in the mind of the religious. That sharp needle you can't get out. To me he was the torch that lit our darkness.
@Dawson Darling
Yes but an enjoyable one, and if you don't know what those may be I suggest you ask your mother :)
@James Cormier
Mr. Hitchens. Your eternity shall be the printed works which include your graceful prose and your contagious ideas and thoughts. Thank you for allowing us to witness your courage as you slipped away from us. A true inspiration.
@Bill Sundling
He hated and slandered God. He will spend eternity getting what he deserved. Even so, (Ezek 18:23 NIV) Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
@Timothy Ferris
One cannot hate what does not exist, which is the position you attribute to Hitchens. Did you ever read the guy?
@Andreas Dahl
dear sir. kindly go feck yerself
@Timothy Ferris
Does the Oslo Cathedral School not teach its pupils how to spell, Mr. Dahl?
@Pedro Arturo Veras
Hitchens couldn't hate God anymore than any one of us could hate Cruella de Vil.
@Andreas Dahl
mr ferris sir. they do, in several languages. they can not however keep me from indulging in slang. that fact, im sure, would seem but a digression when i point out that it was not you i suggested to feck off. its old bill on which i want to change diapers, not you mate. you seem sir, to be able to care for 'yerself' :-)
@Marieclaire Demery
Timothy Ferris Exactly. How can you fear or hate or feel anything for something you don't believe in ? I really enjoyed reading Mr Hitchens book "God is not Great" and it is really sad that he won't write anymore. We need more writers like him . Great loss.
@Andreas Dahl
mr ferris, ive read some of your stuff. didnt know youre already in my bookshelf :-)
@Dawson Darling
Yeah, eternal hell for speaking your mind, that seems proportionate...and you wonder why you're losing followers.
@Jessep Bangham
He and the majority of atheists like myself do not "hate" your imaginary figure. Do you "hate" the tooth fairy? What many of us DO "hate" is the willful ignorance followers like seem to relish in. It's detrimental to our societies and the advancement of our very species itself. As for slandering, your own fairy tale slanders the character plenty, no help is needed.
@Pedro Arturo Veras
Annother candle goes out
@Connie Corbett
We have lost a most courageous man.
@Mike Ofstedal
Thank you, Christopher Hitchens, for showing me: 1. That coming to beliefs through constant critical evaluation, evidence, and thorough, thorough, thought is one of the most worthy and respected endeavors in life. 2. That if one does #1, then: It is not a crime, nor should one be ashamed, to be intelligent and outspoken. 3. That changing one's mind after new ideas or evidence come to light does not make one weak...it makes one strong. 4. That no matter what...my life is MY LIFE. And I should take responsibility for what I personally believe. To not do so is irresponsible, lazy, and completely lacking in courage. You and your ability to convey a message and ask the tough questions of yourself and others will be sorely missed...
@Dan Orth
I had heard from a very good,very intelligent friend of my late father that many,many so-called atheists start praying to the Lord when they are dying and on their deathbeds.God forgives. Nonetheless Christopher Hitchens was a brilliant writer and a very intelligent and knowledge- able man.I saw him on TV a number of times.
@Dawson Darling
Fortunately he made it clear that he would do so such thing, and if he did it would be the result of an addled mind woefully different than his own. And it goes without saying that it definitely would not be from the result of reasoned argument. Quite a nice precedent in light of that old rumor... :)
@Chuck Cecil
Why is it that religious people think they are the only ones true to their convictions? I take it from your tone you are Christian. I wonder if Muslims feel that you would start praying to Allah when you are on your deathbed? Sounds silly, doesn't it? Your father's friend was not that intelligent.
@Ruben Gomez
Great loss, u will be missed sir.
@Robertarvid Johnson
Why do the yes men seem to live forever?
@Chris Barrett
there are no worries when you tell yourself everything is ok..
@Rob Lipton
oh come on, really? At best, he presents a strange brew. I"m glad for much of his writing,if only for the interesting atmospherics, but something happened to him over the last 10 years, "Islamo-fascism"? My god, what a disaster, he did his best to confuse himself, seemingly. His stance on Iraq and all things middle east and Muslim was mostly embarrassing and ill-informed, but that doesn't negate his earlier writing.
