Paul Dunham · Orinda, California
I love this app. The fact that it is viral tells you how cool it is.

Just because it went viral it doesn't mean the attention is positive.

Influenza is viral, so is meningitis, how cool are they?

Have been using Voxer for over a year now and it has a richer set of features than any other messaging application. The combination of text, instant message, voice (synch/asynch), and oTher social features make Voxer a real communication utility. I'll be shocked if Apple, Google, and Microsoft don't copY certain features soon...

Voxer has been one of the best communication apps out there for a long time. It is awesome to see that it finally is getting the traction it deserves. Congrats to Tom and the Voxer team, they have been at this a while and obviously all that work has been worth it.

"'It’s a really good time now versus any other time in history' to be building a mobile app."

Yes, if you have a *lot* of professional connections. Otherwise, good luck being a needle in a haystack!

Regardless of anyone's particular circumstances, don't you think that now is a better time? Proliferation of smartphones, app stores, etc....

Yeah I guess building one during the French Revolution was always going to be a non-starter.

Have been using Voxer for over a year now. They have come a long way in improving the user experience and becoming a multi-platform app. In many occasions, voice is still so much more efficient than text.

"Push to talk" is the label that identifies the microphone button on a radio. It's an instruction, not a mode of operation. The term is "walkie-talkie".

You literally push a button in Voxer to talk. What universal standards body has defined "push to talk" as meaning a button on a radio, in a way that everyone understands and accepts?

Common sense. Using "push to talk" as if it were the name of a feature is as dumb as using "click here" as the name of a feature. "Does this have click here?"

Me and my friends have been using it as a group chat for over a month now. Definitely my fav communication app.

App stores, with their current leaderboard design are the worst distribution system there is on the web. I wish they would just copy YouTube's model: a simple combination of search, recommendations, subscriptions and related items that generates an insanely addictive experience.

OMG! This app is the BEST ever! I'm in love :-)
Now we need a Desktop app to go with it! Then I can ditch GTALK :-)
VOXER my team will help you build a desktop version if you would like to collaborate..... sincerely.
Will sign NDA for this particular solution.

This would be very helpful in large teams. We work in teams of 12 people -10 developers and 1 PM and 1 QC and we can communicate much better with Voxer. But we really need a DESKTOP version that uses the VOXER user-table.

"It’s a really good time now versus any other time in history to be building a mobile app". Yes, the Early Roman Empire period, for example, was a difficult time for building mobile apps.

Still no love for Rattle Me, the other walkie talkie type of app. You mention HeyTell all the time but no Rattle Me. Heck, we're even a verb. Can we get at least one mention from you guys? We're at Rattle.me. ;-)

This can't be compared to Nextel, Not even close. Nice try though. Untill it's instant push to talk, refrain from the nextel comparison or you look like you have NO idea wtf your talking about.

It is as instant as VoIP is. We stream audio live, it is not voice messaging. Try it and see.

I liked Voxer until I found Talkbox. Both are great apps but Talkbox has less bugs.

How is the delay compared with TiKL?
Because TiKL is almost as fast as real radio...
· Thursday at 5:06am

Gustaf Alströmer · San Francisco, California
If you're listening live on Voxer there is no delay. I don't know about Tikl but we're streaming our audio live from the moment you hit the talk button

Stefan Rosenhall · Malmö, Sweden
Gustaf Alströmer Ok, sounds good, (just as TiKL) HeyTell records first and sends afterwards, = long delays. But this sounds promising. Thanks for the answer.

Tested it now and I regret today I'm dissapointed. No sound to BT headset...? Running on DHD/android 2.3.5 with MW600 Headset.
