DS outsold 3DS, Assassin's Creed 3DS cancelled, and Angry Birds on 3DS

3d = silly gimmick that doesn't add anything except money to the price tag of a game.
might as well paint the carts green and say if you plant them they will sprout into magic beanstalks.

The 3D games are the same prices, and you could say that everything from SNES and Sega Megadrive onwards was a gimmick because 'the graphics were better and they charged more'. Nintendo's been going since the 1800s, it's not going anywhere. And there's a lot more to the 3DS than just the 3D aspect. Internet browsing, movie streaming, downloadable games, in-built pedometer, in-built games, street pass etc.

I personally prefer the 3DS screen, but you get so use to things being 3D it gets hard to go back.

Everything is a sales pitch or a gimmick at some point. LED TVs, OLED display, HD (which just means more resolution), Hybrid Cars, motion controls, touch screen, even color TV at one time was a gimmick or sales pitch. Also the next buzz word you will here is 4K TV. They all bring something new to table and improve the quality a bit.

Nintendo has billions of dollars in reserve with almost no debt, they would have to screw up for 30 years to go out of business.

Nintendo has managed to lock the 3DS up pretty tight from hackers and homebrew developers for the moment, but the Japanese company’s previous generation handheld the DS was a hive of homebrew development activity. In fact “was” is the wrong word as this latest project shows it still is a platform being targeted by indie developers.

Homebrew is great, too bad all the pirating of software came with it. It really killed the regular DS.

easy to believe.

easy to believe that infamous 2, especially in a summer month not too crowded with big releases.

that being said, simply adding 3d, while a good idea in my opinion, is not enough to warrent the price. the 3ds only costs nintendo $100 to make. there should have also been some real changes in graphical ablity, control, (one analog? really? didnt you learn from the psp?) and in exterior design so when people look at it they don't think, "hey, a ds with 3d added on for $150 more" they think, "hey, this is the next gen in portable gaming and look, it has 3d on it too."

'didnt you learn from the psp?'

Lol, yeah, because that was such a hit :P

The graphics fall somewhere between an Xbox 360 and a Wii.

What's funny, looking at the NPD numbers, it looks like the DS outsold all of the other Hardware this month and if I read it right from the scan 2 to 1 cause the 3DS was the second best with PSP in a close 3rd. Bad month for everyone.
