A timeline for pages.... B) (After trying out timeline myself, I feel it would be nice if facebook let users keep the existing layout in addition to timeline and users could restrict the audience for their timeline).

I don't think social networking is going to advance much further in the near future in terms of functionality.
A robot re-arranging your noise in a different and unique way isn't motivating for most people. Most people truly don't care about the visualization of their own data, no matter what that may be, other than photo albums.
I think the good innovations are going to come in search rather than social networking. Google's been sitting on the 15 year old page rank algorithm for way the f too long. Every time somebody comes along and does something different the blogosphere instantly slams them into bankruptcy because they aren't as good as Google RIGHT AWAY, as if it didn't take Google at least 5 years to produce good results.
So there you have it, more blogosphere masturbation about timelines, just as there was about Google Wave, another visualization bummer.

Monique Ellingsen Ramsey Be careful, you might hurt the robot's feelings! And then it becomes Skynet! That would be bad.

Somewhat offtopic, but I implemented the WP-Timeline theme (which mimics the Timeline) mentioned here: http://techcrunch.com/2011/09/26/getcher-facebook-timeline-wordpress-theme-here/.
On my own blog at: http://minimaxir.com/.
With a few CSS modifications to make it a little more professional, it actually looks pretty good at conveying information. Still doing some testing though.

what do you think of the two-column layout? don't you feel is confusing to undertstand why one news in on the left and some others on the right with no particular hierarcy reason, but the fact there was not enough space? My point is that the central column, the path is not enough visually strong that you can understand properly what news come first. whereas the timeline could be good for factoids (ala Feltron idea) I'm not sure it works for a reverse-chrono news

Francesco Bertelli I think the motivation behind the two-column layout is that a) more efficient use of space b) quicker reading of posts. idk how well those two would affect running a blog. But as long as I use jumps efficiently it will work well. :)
