Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple, Tim Cook promoted to CEO.

Now can we get flash? And 3rd party appstores? Or at least less draconian rules for the appstore?

Zain Zafar · University of the Punjab
lol well said!

NO FLASH

Tyler Trussell · Top Commenter · Saint Louis, Missouri
I say that on principle, but in practice it is pretty annoying to not be able to do anything having to do with flash on an iPad...

I would absolutely hate to follow in Steve Jobs shoes. That would like being in a garage band that was brought in at the last moment to replace Lady Gaga in a Detroit sold out show. I wish him well but it's obvious every decision he makes and every product that comes out in the next year will be scrutinized to death by both Apple fans/customers and the press alike. Worse, when things go well Jobs will most likely still get the credit, and when they go wrong Cook will get the blame. However, I am comforted in the knowledge that his financial will have him crying all the way to the bank. :) Good Luck Tim!

I'd rather listen to the garage band over Lady Gaga, imo.

While I'll admit I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes at Apple, my understanding thus far is that Tim Cook has already been playing a huge part in the company, and a closer analogy would be something like Armin Van Buuren replacing Lady Gaga in Detroit.

Jobs had to step down now. he's too much of an icon to disappear just like that. he needs to stand behind Cook and his decisions so that Apple users gain confidence in Cook. Do you remember what happened when Jobs left/was fired/ was gone from the company for w/e reason?

"I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change". Serious? The core spirit of Apple is change and lead.

Everything you'd expect Tim Cook to say.

Profoundly simple, important and true: "Jobs’s greatest creation isn’t any Apple product. It is Apple itself." http://ping.fm/LCSQt.

Tim, here's what I'd like to see you do:

Run a series of TV spots, prime time, and on major cable nets like CNBC, Fox News, etc., just you having a conversation with the consumer (and by extension Wall Street). Ad copy: that memo you sent out.

If you're going to be the public face of "Steve's company", really do so, big time.

Tim looks alot older in the article's picture than in the crunchbase picture!

Tim's already delivered the best quarters in the company's history as interim-CEO. I'm sure he's up to the task.

If we succeed we will do so together.

hmmmm... ".....as CEO of the most innovative company in the world."......."I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change." Perhaps, "will continue to be the innovative leader the world has looked to for remarkable products and service........"

Good riddance

I think Apple will do just fine, since cook has been there all this years and I don't think history will necessarily repeat itself here by Apple doing bad because Jobs is not around.
