O come on everyone we all know mr google is not giving more than 2.3 to most tablet players....they used to be open source not sure what happened since they are acting like apple.

Now this is a great deal...$199.99 on ad for this model

I have another version of this product and it is very solid and will run the amazon app store...

don't worry, 4.0+ versions should be avail again.
honeycomb is a half-baked product; it do not support phones.
With ICS, I anticipate a lot of cheap, capable Android tablets...

There are hundreds of such cheap tablest released everyday. We don't need Engadget to tell us that. This nothing but taking cheap shots at Android.

$300?? Look, I have nothing against low-end tablets - someone has to fill that market segment - but for $300 you can get infinitely better options. I mean, Rockchip RK2918? That just stinks of low-end KIRF and yet the price is top-tier name-brand.

For the same price you can get an Archos G9 8" tablet with the same size screen (and screen ratio) at a higher resolution, with honeycomb, a dual core cpu and much better specs overall. Not that I'm interested in either, but why would anyone buy this?

$300 for an RK2918-based tablet? I mean, sure, it's basically as fast as the original Galaxy Tab which is very good. But I was in Hong Kong last week and there were load of RK2918 tablets with 5-point capacitive touchscreens going for less than $120 USD. Build quality was pretty good too.

I'm pretty sure this "premium" tablet is just another rebranded Chinese tablet being sold to uninformed people.

I agree with Anal Vanovic on this. The pricing is really outrageous considering their costs. This will not sell well at all.

The Kindle Fire is the best thing to happen to the Android tablet market. I wish all the cell phone companies like HTC, Motorola, Blackberry and Samsung (the galaxy tab is a great tablet just expensive) just focus on making better looking, faster phones and make them as thin as possible with great battery like. Apple, Amazon and Microsoft will handle the Tablet market. Save all that money and RnD for different devices

If some of these companies actually tried they could release a decent tablet, just put Cyanogen mod on your tablet if it's a Chinese one, get a ui like android on the touchpad so at least it's not just a giant phone..
