That is cracking, I asked my best friend to buy me a £135 Millennium Falcon Lego for xmas and he laughed in my face, rude.

So is the Imperial Shuttle here from a Lego set or custom made?
Doctor-Sinister @Iron Man Underoos
The shuttle itself is an official set.

I hope poor Professor Kane doesn't see this.

Something happened out here when I was inside. Harry Potter Legos. Star Wars Legos. Complicated kits; tiny little blocks. I'm not saying it's bad, I just wanna know what happened

Just finished watching that episode - that was a funny scene and this season is starting off strong.

Between this and the endangered-species article with LEGO pictures, I must say: As an avid Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL), I support more LEGO blogging from io9.
Two thumbs up!

His feet will be better off, though.

This just confirms I need to, at the minimum, get a Vader minifig for my Ultimate Collector Series TIE Interceptor (Lego 7181)

I think the Ewok village (and Gundan town) would be the only Lego sets that would be more fun for me to break apart than build.

Hoff created his homemade Death Star hanger for Science Discovery Day at his school, an event where students are encouraged to bring their own LEGO models

"I only got to display the model for one day and I still haven't had the heart to take it apart yet," Hoff told Rex Features.

Of course, while the students were making more pint-sized diaramas, Hoff was busy creating an armed and fully operational battle station that cost just over $2,300 to make

Way to show up children, Jay.

Most of that cost is in the mini-figs, those things are expensive.
01SNKOWNR @se7a7n7
Yeah, most standard pieces you can buy online from various 'clubs' for pennies. It is the unique parts / colors that tend to get you. Stormtroopers are rather scarce, but you can build a droid army for cheap!

Strange use of Clone Troopers rather than Storm Troopers, but my god, that is still bloody impressive!
01SNKOWNR @Ursus-Veritas
Likely because Stormtrooper minifigs retail for around $8 ea. A Clone Trooper will run you about $2 ea.
storymark @01SNKOWNR
Damn, for that price, he would have been better off just molding and casting them himself.

The problem is that Original Trilogy sets are not as common now, most sets are Prequel/Clone Wars sets. Most O.T. set come with only one standard Stormtrooper if you are lucky. Clone sets often have two/three troopers, sou the supply of standard Stormtroopers if low.

How do they justify charging so much for one over the other when they are worthless plastic to begin with?

Same reason a bit of pulp with some sticky shit on one side and a picture of dead people on the other can fecth millions. Value has very little to with the actual resources that go into things.
01SNKOWNR @∞Gîmmî∞Sagaŋ∞ðm∞Drakeŋ∞
As Captain Tripps explained, demand. Star Wars fans who want to build Lego sets need figures. And there are lots of fans and not as many minifigs, so demand out reaches supply.

That is FANTASTIC. I LOVE Legos.
Now take it apart and put it away.
