Intro to Google Plus with David Stagg

Google should have named it BBM. Anyone who has copyright on that trademark is too broke to sue.

GGM for the same effect, plus the guarantee of not being sued.

Genius. Eliminate silly lawsuits and focus on the product.

David Wang And I'm sure it stole its Search technology from someone else as well. You reek of debilitating ignorance. I would give you credit if at least you came up with an original criticism--even while inane--instead of parroting a tired and factually bankrupt statement you heard some other idiot make.

Always thought it should be Messenger -- it's an old and well understood term and people understand it immediately. "What is Google Huddle?" exists, "What is Google Messanger" will exist less.

Having "Messenger" isn't an infringement on Facebook's territory - the G+ Messenger is built-in to the app! ohhhhhhh, eat it.... haha

They should have named it Quikster.

Messenger is the best name. Huddle would not have taken off anyway. Now if they could just rename Google Checkout "Google Payments" that product may stand a chance.

Bull crap. It's only available to 18+ why does Google lock out the demographic that could potentially end up using it the most? I don't get it...

Facebook restricts access to age groups as well. So you just re-apply and lie.

But given Google is pretty sure i was born on the 1st of January 1900 ish, does it matter?

I think the policy is silly, but i dont think its a problem.

Search, Marketing, Social. They should call it SMS. That's a safe bet.

I did a quick thesaurus of "Huddle" - I get group, cluster, crowd etc.
I like "Cluster". You see messenger implies 1 to 1 communication. Hence Google wanting to use Huddle, it conveys the many to many ability of the G+ messenger...

Now you can move 10 of the 24mb of the application to the SD card, which still leaves 14 bloated MB on your internal storage. What the hell makes this thing so big? Even Facebook doesn't take up that much space!

Didn't Apple just go ahead with iPad despite Cisco's (or someone's) same named product? Just saying. Having said that, I would still have preferred a good name.

McLoughlin should be thanking his lucky stars, I'll imagine Huddle received record traffic.

I recall MSFT forcing Windows Commander to change its name to Total Commander. I wonder if they will give Google a free pass here.

AIM predates Yahoo Messenger and MSN/Windows/Live Messenger which predate Facebook
Messenger. If someone were going to sue over "Messenger" it needed to happen a long, long time ago.

Ping Me is a better name but that name was already taken by PingMe Messenger. http://pingme.net/ a pretty slick real-time messaging app for iPhone and Android devices.
