This is not "the first piece of inter-species entertainment." I have a DVD, sold commercially, designed to entertain my cat. It shows birds. She loves it, and chirps at them just like she does at live birds outside the window.

Heh! My cat likes to lie on my lap for cuddles when I watch films and telly, and she pays no attention at all to what is happening in the videos except for a) when there is a loud and sudden noise, like an explosion, or b) when there are clear-sounding bird calls. Then she pricks up her ears and starts looking around the room to see where that damn magpie is.
