Facebook Partners With Websense To Protect Users From Malicious Sites And Malware

If it can block farmville and all it's wanna-be's... that would truly make websense.

Bruce Williamson
You can block farmville on an per friend basis. Hover the mouse over the friend's name then the subscribe button. You'll see a list of things to "subscribe" to. Uncheck games.

I know ... guess I'm still all Andy Rooney over having to dismiss each and every flavor for so long.

Susie Burkett
Steven Jones You can actually block the entire app. :)

Anita Labrucherie
Who is going to protect us from you FB invading our space and broadcasting any movement that you make? spyware seems to be something you are into. So and so is playing this or that senseless and somewhat malicious:) I used to love FB but you are getting more and more intrusive. Telling me and others who is in my photos recently and you were wrong. I was with my friend Peggy and you posted that it was with another friend Billy Jean and said it was her when it was Peggy:) I had to edit the photos:) and correct your mistake:)What are you going to do this about that?

You can remedy that yourself you know...Just delete your profile and you will be sooo safe!

Andrew Wright · BAA
Facebook doesn't "invade" anything at all. All you're now seeing is more detail of what others have set as visible to everyone else. It doesn't mean YOUR posts are published the same, that's determined by your own account security settings in YOUR profile already. If you lock things down to just your friends, then just your friends will see your posts, comments, photos etc. But you've probably never looked at that and expect others to set your privacy for you. Yes, probably account deletion is best for you after all.

Connie Davis Francis ~ why are you making sarcastic remarks on other people's posts? There is no need for it. Anita's comment is perfectly valid. Do you have nothing better to do than to harass strangers? This is 2nd post, so far, that I've seen you be rude to the person posting! If you have nothing positive to offer, please refrain from saying anything. Sheesh!!!

Cristina Kidd
This wouldn't be necessary if people just used common sense but that seems to be in short supply on FB. Which leads me to believe there will still be plenty of idiots who choose to ignore the warning.

Oh how great it would be to be as smart and perfect as you!

Cristina Kidd
Connie Davis Francis let me guess, you clicked to see Bin Ladin's bloody body, didn't you?

Connie Davis Francis · Stephen F. Austin High School, Bryan, Texas
Cristina Kidd OMG Did I do that? I am so sorry. I won't do it again..promise!

Adding Websense is a good idea... keeping Web Of Trust is not. WOT is a site which relies on user 'opinions' to rate websites. The people who rate websites on WOT are not professionals!

Websense is an amazing product. We use it in the office and to block Facebook from staff. LOL

Jason Cheung
I wonder if this hook up will mean Websense removes faCebook from its list of crap-sites and rejig their spAmware alogarithm. Un-LOL

Sure, good to block Facebook. Then your staff will just goto Google+ and wasting their times.

I would like to review the terms and know what happen if websense fails in identifing a malicious URL. A website maybe classified as clean but not all the URL under this site.

Chamisa Computer Repair Software
I guess all will have to wait for Chamisa to launch later this year to get real time malware intrusion detection and prevention on their pcs. This will eliminate the need for the maybe it works factor.

It's about time! I cannot count how many friends have succumbed to malicious sites and malware on Facebook.

Craig Flindall
just another engine of censorship. Fuck this, who governs websense and what if my site is marked abusive and what are terms of abuse according to websense? seem real greay area here and I think this is going to suppress alot of links to sites that are valid. seems like websense to me is like a nanny state telling you what you can or cannot post.

frankly, this is the 1st sensible implement I've seen on FB! it's about time! FBers have undoubtedly spent $ on expensive crashes due to the negligence of the past around here....OK, let's see if you can STAY on track now.

I do not use iphone. Cannot stand them. I'm getting fed up with the cell phone now. Think I'll go back to CB Radio and HAMS.
